A drawing I did from my favorite scene from the book and movie The Goldfinch. Before Theo goes in the taxi, to go on his journey back to New York, Boris kisses him and runs away.
The Goldfinch was my first lgbtq book I ever read where the main character just so happens to be lgbtq. I’m not very good with “reading between the lines” and understanding symbolism, but I did read an article somewhere talking about Theo’s struggle with being closeted and toxic masculinity because of his abusive father, and if anyone is interested, I really recommend reading the book. It made me cry a lot throughout, but the writing is beautiful, and though the movie does leave a few things out, it is very visually beautifully so check it out if you want to. ❤️ Also, spoiler alert, they don’t get together unfortunately, but trust me, the book is definitely the first one you should check out as it’s in the perspective of Theo, and he goes more in detail about his complex relationship with Boris !!
