Continued from here.
Persephone was supposed to meet Hera for a girls night out and a couple of drinks. She had been fashionably early like always but she didnât mind waiting on her best friend. Hera would have a drink waiting for her when she arrived anyway. Thatâs when she noticed a familiar figure hunched over the bar. It didnât take long to piece together who it was. Wanting to surprise him she snuck quietly behind him until his outburst caused her body to jerk back. Was he talking about her? Her heart melted as he spoke even if there was an eerie silence from patrons who looked liked they were consumed by fear.
Slowly Persephone moved towards him again, gently placing her hand on his shoulder. âI know you do.â She spoke with a reassuring smile. In that moment she just wanted to calm him down before he did anything stupid. However she would be lying if she said it wouldnât have been amusing to see Hades in action. She then moved besides him so they could see each other better. âLetâs get you home before you end up behind bars tonight, yeah?â
.
He hates when people question him. When people go after him, telling him heâs not good enough. Heâs been told that his whole life, heâs fought his whole life to change that about himself. And when it comes to Persephone, when it comes to knowing that she deserves better, he doesnât need anyone reminding him of that fact. Because he fucking knows she deserves better, and he hates when people tell him that. And when heâs here, drunk, his anger has no restraints. Part of him is ready to get up and fight this person. Heâs sure that everyone in the bar is watching the scene heâs starting to cause.
Hades is less than a second away from getting up when thereâs a hand on his shoulder. Thereâs a moment where he thinks its a bouncer, but the touch is too light. Itâs familiar. He turns, freezing as he looks at her. âSeph, I...â he starts, unable to think of anything else to say. Why was she here? Did she know he was here? His anger is still too volatile for him to ask her any of those questions because theyâd come out angry and vicious and she would take them the wrong way.
She moves and he looks at her, wanting to hold her gaze but finding it hard to maintain eye contact just from the embarrassment of having her see him like this. âI wouldnât end up behind bars,â he argues a bit, but nods along, getting up. As he does, he reaches into his wallet, pulling out a few large, crisp bills and tossing them onto the counter. And though the amount may have seemed generous, he knows he drank a lot, and any tip left for the bar tenders was more out of convenience as he had no interest in waiting for change. âYeah. Letâs go,â he mutters, holding his arm out for Persephone to hold onto.Â
