hold it, did beck just insult me?

meretrixa:Â
She cocked a brow. âThatâs because you donât pay close enough attention to the ten-thousandths of things.â Arke was a firm believer in all things control, even to the point where she overdoes it, down, right down to taxes and caloric intake. She would gladly, however, do nothing to help him clean things up, and wasnât thinking of offering in the first place. âIâve quite a good ideas, you know, when people think to listen. I might suggest a charm for unbreakable glass as well. Or perhaps simply airtight steel containers. I know it doesnât fit the look youâre going for, but it is overall easier to avoid these sorts of issues in the end.â
Kingsley snorted as he idly swept some of the mess into an isolated pile and gave her an amused look. âWell arenât you full of ideas today?â He actually might look into testing out some glass bottles charmed against breakage - see whether or not it would interfere with the properties of some of the more costly to produce products that heâd really rather not see go into the wastebin.
yao-qiaoling:Â
Sleep had evaded Qiaoling for the past few nights and as a result, she had became a little moreâŚtemperamental, much to the shock of her Court. Perhaps the stress of her queenly duties had finally gotten to her, though no matter what was the cause, she wanted it to stop. Did she need to glamour herself and trek all the way out to Pandoraâs Poison for a sleep aid remedy? Not necessarily. Did she want to get out of the palace? The answer was always yes.
Of course, coming upon someone talking to themself as they cleaned up what appeared to be a broken bottle was not what she expected. Still, their string of rambling did make a slight smile appear. â Itâs too bad I donât have any children, or that discount wouldâve been lovely. â She said, amusement evident in her voice. â Pardon me for interrupting you, but do you have any sleep aid remedies? âÂ
Kingsley looked up from the mess to the reply to his ramblings he hadnât quite expected. âDamn, thatâs a shame, really - thatâs a discount I surely would have been very happy to give if the demands were met. And of course,â Kingsley said, brushing all potentially dangerous shards of broken glass and goop into a dust pan. The area would need some more thorough moping later, but it would do for now. âAre you looking for something thatâll give you a couple hours, or something a little heavier? We have a couple standard issue tinctures ready on the shelves, but the more powerful-issue potions we make to order,â he said, moving towards the counter.
poisonofadonis:Â
Allanonâs eyes narrowed at the nickname and she let out a low noise of disapproval, though her wry smile never strayed. âWell, Savvy,â Allanon began, drawing out the nickname she knew he despised so much - two could play at that game. âOnce youâre done mopping - and whining - Iâd more than grateful if I could get my hands on my order, which I hope is in a far better state than thisâŚâ She said with minor disgust, kicking her shoe tentatively towards some of the congealed mess. ââŚNot that I donât enjoy our chats, of course.â She couldnât help but laugh at his comment which followed (and frustration with the wings of her kind). Currently her wings were neatly tucked beneath the long cloak, though the damage they could cause would be tenfold that of a younginâŚhe looked far too distressed as it was, however, for her to test that theory. ââOh, will you justâŚ? You say that as if I have a reputation. I assure you, my use of pretty flowers is entirely reasonable. But Iâm all for giving nightmares, Iâm quite adept as you may recall.â
Kingsley didnât even bother trying to hide the grimace of distaste that instantly appeared at the nickname of âSavvyâ. âYeah, deserved that. And you betcha, one secâ he shook his head as if to get the sound of that name out of his ears, and finished up cleaning the mess, bending down dump the contents of the dustpan into a small wastebin. Getting to his feet, broom and bin in tow, he meandered towards the counter, and set the cleaning supplies aside before bending down to a locked cupboard. âAnd you bet I do recall, if the ingredients used in your orders are anything to go by,â he said with a smirk, pressing his hand to the cupboard and coaxing a small bit of magic into the sigil carved into the woodwork of the cabinet door. The door popped open with a small click, and he retrieved a small package wrapped in brown paper and twine. âThe flowers used in this batch proved to be a bit more potent at picking, so do be mindful of that when⌠administering, I suppose Iâll say.â
aurorapentagast:Â
On her way home from the Glass Chapel, Aurora stopped by the apothecary both for need of a few things and to say hi to Kingsley. Â Having known him since she was a child was one thing that made her life interesting. Â So, when she walked in and heard what he said she couldnât help but laugh at him. Â âBut then what?â she mused while approaching him. Â âThen you wouldnât get to meet all the little kids that become your life long friends.â Â There was a teasing tone to her voice and she smirked. Â âThink of how different things would be if my mother tied me up outside that day.â
Kingsley looked up from the mess and towards the source of the voice, his concerns forgotten for a moment as a smile broke out on his face, âFancy seeing you here Skip,â he said with a laugh, reaching up to tussle her hair despite the very fact that she was a grown woman now in human years. Nearly looked the age he looked, if he was being honest. âLittle rascals whoâve got no sense of propriety to their mischief have no business keeping my company - tell me, did I the mischief I ever encouraged you ever promise property damage?â He gave her a pointed look and without waiting for her to answer, continued, âThat better be a no, Pentaghast or we are going to have words.â
johnnie-blue-changeling:Â
The imp looked at her for a moment, remaining silent a little longer than she had expected. She guessed that he simply didnât know what to make of her presence or of her question at the moment. The imp kicked the dustpan her way and asked her to hold it down so he could sweep the glass.
An easy enough request, Johnnie thought.
Johnnie bent down and held the thing still, watching the imp push glass shards into the dustpan.
âWho made this mess, anyway?â
The man shrugged offhandedly and swept the remains into the bin, careful to not get any on the girl. âConsider a pair of twins without fine motor control of their wings, and a mother that doesnât pay them mind while she shops. In a place filled with many a breakables, of course, two troublemakers tend get a bit reckless.â
The Lunar New Year Festivities were on Kingsleyâs mind. Or, more accurately to say, they were on his stomach. He was absolutely starving and the food that could be found at the festival? To die for. Hence, Pandoraâs Poison closed up early for the day, employees and customers shooed out the doors. Kingsley, eagerly looking forward to the short train ride out to the Spring Court. Heâd probably deny it if ever asked, but the Lunar New Year was honestly one of his favorite holidays. Had been since he was little.Â
Humming a tune to himself, he reset the wards to the front of the shop, and turned on the cobbles with his hands in his pockets, only to come face to face with somebody. His humming came to an abrupt stop and he gave them a flat look with squinting eyes. âYou better not be here for the shop cause, weâre totally closed. And Iâm starving, and thereâs a feast calling my name in the Spring Court, buddy.â He started down the street with the intention of heading towards the station, and stopped for a moment before looking back. âWell, come on then, list your problems and woes as we go, chop chop. I donât like dawdlers,â he said, the last sentence in a sing-song voice.

âArenât you an imp?â she countered, arms crossed as she leaned on the doorjamb. She was wholly unimpressed by the sight. Anyone with a bit of magic could just charm everything back to its proper location. Or at least the relevant bit of magic anyway. âWave your hand, Don Savage, or get your little assistant to charm the door so that anyone under twenty cannot enter.â She was one for humor at times, of course, but she was not seeing the humour in not getting her order filled the second that she arrived for it.
Kingsley turned from his task to give the owner of that familiar voice an annoyed look. âArenât you smart?â he snorted, and jabbed a thumb towards the bottles that remained on the shelves and then towards the mess. âI donât use any more magic than necessary in the crafting of these wares for good reason. Too much and things start to get funky. Plus, thereâs a good amount of herbs all mixed together down there that do not pair well with magic now that the intent in their compisi--okay, rambling, more magic than necessary is bad news with stuff like this. Donât go trying to help along with it, yeah?â He paused to sweep more shards of glass and gloopy mess into a dust pin. â...Though an age line restriction isnât actually too bad an idea, really. Huh,â he said thoughtfully, pausing in his sweeping for a brief moment.Â
johnnie-blue-changeling:Â
Johnnie recalled someone mentioning a store full of perfumes, medicines, and other substances located somewhere in the Historical District. Pandoraâs Poison, it was called. She needed to go there to find a tincture her sick roommate needed. Johnnie thought the roommate described it as green in color. Or brown. She could get it mixed up.
At least she had the name down.
She walked into the Historical District to find Pandoraâs Poison. Normally, Johnnie would stick to pharmacies close by, but her roommate was dead set on a specific tincture only found here. She got lost a few times and had to ask around. Finally, she found it.
As soon as she entered, she saw an imp mopping up glass on the floor. Apparently someone had made a mess before she came in. Whatever it was, it made the imp quite irritable. The most Johnnie could deduce from his ramblings was that fae children had made this mess.
âI.. uhâŚâ Johnnie muttered, unsure of what to do. âDo you need help?â
Kingsley swung his case over to the new voice, and eyeballed the newcomer for a moment, before pursing his lips and raising an eyebrow. He pushed himself to his feet and stared for a couple moments longer than necessary, just to see if he could make her uncomfortable for a second or five. Then, with a sudden shrug of a shoulder, he toed the metal dustpan on the floor with a booted foot, and slid it down the aisle towards the human.Â
âHold that down, will ya? Cheers,â and without waiting a beat, beginning to sweep the glass remains towards the bin.Â
lethal-kai:Â
Stepping onto a piece of stray glass, Kai was sure she got the attention of the sweeping, mopping poisoner. âNever thought Iâd see you bent over with a broom and dustpan in hand, Kingsley,â the siren laughed as she leaned against a steady shelve, kicking the broken glass away with a boot. It wasnât always she paid the man a visit despite the fact that she was a frequent customer at his shop. âI didnât even know you knew how to use one,â she continued. It had been a running joke between her and his grandmother. Washing the dishes, taking out the trash, hanging the laundryâall fine. But sweeping? A chuckle. Iâd like to see him handle one of those things. âDonât you have a staff to do it for you, anyway?â
The man snorted and got to his feet, handling the broom so his hands rested atop the handle, chin resting on the backs of his hands. âYes, well, when herbs and magic are involved, whether it be of a poisonous or healing nature, best not to use any more magic than necessary. Can be hazardous if youâre not careful, and when it comes to my craft, I am nothing if not careful.â He shook his head and began to sweep once again. âYou need to stop spending time with my grandmother, I tell you. And the staff is otherwise occupied. Hence,â he opened his arms, gesturing to the mess within the aisle. âMe. Cleaning. Like any self-sufficient individual is capable of doing.â Though apparently some parents these days werenât capable of instilling a value of âclean up your shitty messesâ in their children. âWhether I find it completely annoying or not. Unless of course youâre volunteering?âÂ
