Hello everyone! This isn’t so much an announcement as it is your admin team addressing something we’ve noticed.
In conversations with quite a few people, we’ve noticed that members have mentioned they’d like to bring in a second or third muse but are worried they won’t be able to keep up that muse for more than a few months because of time/inspiration.
That’s perfectly fine.
Muses come and go, and not all of them have to be long term. Picking up a muse that you think is cool in the moment is totally fine! Roleplaying is a hobby, we pick up muses because we think its fun. If you want to make a new muse every two months, go for it! We expect a fleshed out character in every application anyway, so if you can do that and revive your desire to roleplaying by having a muse that you’re not 100% serious about, it’s okay. Not all muses have to be developed for years and years to be cool and fun. Even a muse that lasts for a couple weeks that you can throw up fun and cool threads for is totally fine.
There’s no pressure to keep muses, so there’s no pressure to stop you from making an infinite number of them!
There’s a lot of reasons that a muse can leave the roleplay that you can justify IC but you also… don’t need to do that. There’s not really any obligation to, and it’s simple enough to tie up loose ends by hashing things out OOC or with a quick concluding post.
So go ahead!! Make that muse!! Flake on your muse after a couple of months!!!!!! It’s okay, so long as you’re having fun.
(Since we feel like this is an important reminder, we’ll repost/reblog this after a month.)

Hi there! I just wanted to pop in and say the admin is so sweet for being considerate of exams and keeping this amazing rp going in general, and that it really is a community where everyone’s health and well-being are prioritized. Fighting!!
Hello everyone! Finals season is upon us and since a lot of members are students, many of us are focusing on studying. We understand that roleplaying is just a hobby, and we encourage everyone give their 100% to doing well on their exams.
Until May 11th, we will not conduct activity checks. What we do ask is that ALL MEMBERS, even those that remain active, message the admin on both Friday and Sunday of every week to indicate that they are still interested in remaining in the roleplay, otherwise their muse dropped and face-claim will be up for grabs. We’ve fostered a community here and many have been good friends for months, and so we want to support our members in this time. We do hope that you all can manage to post at least a few times, but we will understand if you really can’t.
Starting from this Friday, please message us to let us know you are still keeping your muse.
If you can’t message us on the given day, feel free to message us earlier (not too early lets be reasonable fellas) and say “I might not available on that day so I’m messaging now”. We hope that everyone has a chance to see this message before Friday, but since we don’t have the personal contact information of every person, we do encourage you to share this with other members if you think they might not see it soon! Especially if that member is on hiatus and might not check their account before Friday.
So please!! Your real life is important, don’t forget to take care of yourself, especially if you’re stressing really hard about work or school. Study hard! Work hard! We love you!!!!!!!

We’ve heard from quite a few people that they’d be interested in a discord groupchat/server. We’d like to hear from the rest of you, so if you’re for or against a directory group chat, please message us and let us know. If we do make a group server, please understand that no one would be required to join, but it would simply be a space for members to interact outside of the dashboard.
The following muses have no posted within a week and have received a warning. Please contact the admins to ask for a hiatus or post within the next two days.

GAO YIXIANG,
ARMED AND DANGEROUS,
PROCEED WITH CAUTION.
THE FOLLOWING IS CLASSIFIED.
cw parental neglect, abuse
FULL NAME: GAO YIXIANG
CODE NAME: HOUND
AGE: 38 YEARS OLD
OCCUPATION: KINGSMAN ADVISOR
PERSONALITY:
The first usual description tacked onto him is that Yixiang is too serious; the first thing he would do was to resign himself to this observation, and say nothing in return. And sometimes when he’s told this in a charade of congeniality (sometimes at lavish dinner parties and in stiff-collared suits), the harsh lines joins the upturned corners of his lips in a smile, but his eyes are always disjointed and it’s more of a simulacrum of an expression.
His mother would say it’s a display of contempt.
He says nothing because it meant agreeing.
Agreeing = subservience = conditioning.
But Yixiang would smile anyway.
Then if he’s told- no, merely suggested, as they say, that he should (maybe) consider smiling more often (”You’ll be more approachable-”), and (maybe) consider that perhaps he should be more tactful when he speaks. To all of this he would say nothing to, not in retaliation, but because he’s aware and doesn’t need to be told things he already knows. He’s not stupid.
Yixiang is always aware of this, and in between a trait people would call being observant and an all consuming paranoia (clinically defined by a psychiatrist at 15 as anxiety), it was more of a painful habit. He understands some approximation of whatever being too serious meant but doesn’t bother somehow moderating this (he acknowledges and ignores at the same time), he doesn’t smile when there’s nothing and no one for him to smile to besides for a semblance of a courtesy he’s instilled with. There’s a difference between should and could, and when he speaks (tactful or less so), it’s because he should.
In another time, perhaps his father would tell his mother he’s less of her, that he “takes after him more” and perhaps then Yixiang would smile less sardonically too. But now he’s not so sure if he would smile. Not a people-pleaser by any means and even less than charming, a trait rooted in his tendency to work by compulsive, mnemonic habits shaped and turned into routine (shoulders tensed almost always) by his military years. He could be gentle, but chooses not to be, and he’ll say he’s being honest.
Yixiang is capable in every sense of the word, and when it comes to interactions necessary in an operation, he preys on ingrained sensibilities (etiquette, his mother calls them) and feigns necessary facade (the way his father does).
A boy is born.
When he’s seven and somewhat comprehends his mother’s ramblings in between his father’s absences, she had told him that he didn’t cry for the first few minutes when he was first born. She would tell him this with a tired smile, lopsided but amused. Gentle.
“It was like you were waiting to be told you could.” she’d add. Behind the makeshift scaffolding of stacks of papers on her office desk were picture frames of him and his brother, and even more stood on the margins of her book shelves, photo albums disorganized and slipped in between medical books for the sake of her office being relatively tidy. Every drawing and childishly scrawled cards he and his brother have ever given pinned to the cork board- traces of a salvaged museum to a boyhood.
On one day a picture frame on her shelf had been placed far close to the edge by the office janitor and had fell, then shattered. His mother forgives her.
At nine he somewhat understood the necessary waves of absence and presence of his father, and doesn’t cry during the longer periods of his absence in the military; because his father had told him that he shouldn’t, that he had nothing to cry about, and he’s mitigated by a temporary reassurance and the certainty he returns. He learns what fleeting absences meant when he isn’t home. So he doesn’t cry because he’s expected to know better.
At one of the one too many parties his family had been invited to, his mother had worn a lilac dress. Their friends say he’s “just like his father”, and he remembers his father smiling.
At ten, he learns the way absence becomes a permanence when his mother takes him and his little brother to move to Qingdao, leaving behind his father. His mother would smile, but the gentleness had morphed and became a tender wound twinging with lilac.
ii.
He has always been told he was more of a father’s boy.
They move into a smaller home, though one not necessarily less lavish. He follows begrudgingly, and inherits his father’s quite anger- lack of a childish outburst substituted with one that imploded within him instead. Yixiang hates Qingdao with a boyish contempt that his mother assumes are because of every reason other than him assuming her betrayal towards his father, and through this, Yixiang learns to avoid.
On a Sunday night dinner when he’s sixteen, he makes this clear. As a boy, as an almost man, he learns to bruise his mother this way. His mother does not smile this time, and the twinges of lilac had turned into deep purple bruising.
His mother sees the outlines of his father when he had raised his voice at her for the first time.
Influences are felt and actions that succeed it are executed before they’re analyzed. When he’s older, growing shoulders feel the burden of his father’s name, and his stretching limbs learn to uphold it.
iii.
Inheritance by blood has never been painless.
When he leaves for military at 18 to follow his father’s footsteps, the purple had turned to black. In his mother’s eyes, she sees a resemblance to his father when he turns his back to her. At 28 he’s a fugitive from the Chinese government and the CIA, and at 29 he’s presumed deceased in Las Vegas.
Just like his father, the last thing he had said to his mother was goodbye.
iv.
Grandiosity as a mouth piece for vainglory is meaningless as it is effortless, because influences are felt and not analyzed. Inheritance passed by in blood is painless, upholding it isn’t. He sheds his father’s name, forges a new name and finds himself in South Korea.
We’re very sorry, but we’re going to push back the mission event a bit - it seems quite a few muses are on hiatus, and the admin team themselves are a bit busy right now.
