stepping back from how hot i find it, looked at somewhat more objectively, ageplay is the silliest, most whimsical kink there is. just think about it:
“it’s SO hot when i’m just dressed up in a onesie, coloring a picture!” absurd
“i love playing Legos on the floor while i suck a pacifier, what a crazy turn on” ridiculous
“omg why is it so sexy to have someone buckle me into the car and order food for me” ludicrous
“nothing turns me on more than sitting in someone’s lap and being called a good girl/boy” farcical
“i love pretending to need diapers like a baby and having someone play along with this” preposterous
“i’ve always wanted someone to treat me, a grown up, intelligent, thoughtful adult, like a little kid” SO SILLY
i think that’s part of the appeal though. it’s obviously just silly, but ALSO the seriousness that you have to have to actually let yourself go and play in those roles? being silly as an adult is HARD work for many (most?) of us! learning to truly let go and be little, to let the big feelings out, to accept the care of others, to just feel things and let them out without over analyzing and bottling them up? that’s something, for many of us, that require some degree of unlearning! growing up and maturing is, in so many ways, about self-control, leaving such things behind, not letting oneself be ruled by such feelings, not living quite so much in the moment.
ageplay is great because you have to accept looking silly and absurd and ridiculous, and yet be serious enough about it to get submerged in that role, in a more childish way of thinking, feeling, acting, expressing yourself. it’s also just very freeing. children just climb into laps, hug people they love, and they haven’t internalized all the roadblocks we put up, all the social conventions and norms and rules and shame and the hate we else stops us from just loving and caring and being cared for, the vulnerability and intimacy.
social rules and norms and conventions aren’t bad things necessarily (though often they are), but sometimes we need to get in touch with the silliest, most childish impulses you have! dancing in the rain and jumping in puddles, climbing into someone’s lap to be comforted or just because it feels right, playing with toys and pretending and make believe, all of it.
i don’t know if any of this makes sense or not, but maybe it does.
