nothing in any fandom will ever replicate the pure chaos of the night that the midnight memories album leaked in its entirety and all of us panic downloaded everything before it was taken down, and it all happened the night before 1D day where fans got an “exclusive listen” to the album but 1d knew they’d already listened to it, the fans knew, everyone watching at home knew, but we all pretended that tension wasn’t happening
Bruh his voice is so soothing
y’all remember being 15? That was fucked up
Sex Education → Season 2
When you’re young you think everybody out there really… really gets you. But you know, actually, only a handful of them ever do. All the people who like you, despite your faults. And if you discard them, they will never come back. So, when you meet those people, you should just hold onto them. Really, really tightly. And don’t let them go.
One thing I really liked about the 2019 Little Women is that Laurie’s love for Jo comes off more like misplaced/misinterpreted (but no less intense) platonic feelings rather than unrequited/one-sided romantic love like the 1994 movie. That kind of helps smooth out the transition from Laurie’s love for Jo, which seems childish and misguided here, to his more mature, fuller, and realistic love for Amy.
I hated Amy/Laurie in the 1994 movie because I couldn’t believe that the boy who was so in love with Jo that he’d flee to Europe to sulk would just “replace” her with her sister and everything would be fine. In the 2019 adaptation, it’s much, much clearer that Laurie loves the March family and what they represent, and Jo is part of that. It’s also obvious that his love for Amy is something else entirely, compared to his love for the family and for Jo too. I also really liked that Amy’s always loved Laurie, and that she brings up being second to Jo. They successfully addressed all the reasons the canon relationships didn’t work for me in other adaptations.
I really liked how they handled these relationships and while the 1994 version is still my forever fave, I think I prefer this adaptation’s take on those relationships.
when amy was talking abt how all her life she has been second to jo and she won’t be second pick for laurie because she has always loved him, it hit me like a train that for 150 years amy HAS been considered second to jo, in most things but especially in laurie’s love and that isn’t right because she’s loved him all along.
Not to discredit Laurie’s feelings, but I sort of get the impression that he thought he loved Jo romantically because that was the first real deep connection he had with a female. They spend every waking second together and have such a beautiful platonic relationship and I just feel like Laurie probably mistook that for romantic love. He did love Jo but it’s almost as if he felt the need to label it as romantic because he didn’t know what other kind of love it could be. And then when him and Amy reconnect and further develop their relationship arc, it’s like it suddenly clicks. I don’t know if that made sense, but...
Little women.
