JYESTHA
☂️ Jyestha means “the eldest”, “the chief/the most senior”
☂️ This can manifest as being…
Being the eldest child,
Being the first to start a family amongst your siblings,
Ending up in a position of authority at work,
Being the oldest soul in your family (if you believe in past lives, you may have a life path number of 9, 11, 22),
Or simply these people can DESIRE to be special and have authority - thinking their experiences are unique, their worldview is rare, etc.
☂️ This nakshtra symbol is an earring, umbrella - symbols of authority, protection and status.
☂️ People under this naksahtra face these themes in their lives:
Protecting others,
Leadership and authority,
Navigating power imbalances + status + responsibility,
Managing crises.

THE NEGATIVE: Often people describe JYESTHA as happily picking protective leadership roles. But this is a karmic placement (ESP PADA 3) due to Scorpio connection.
Thus, they usually hold grudges and resentment for what they must lead, protect and/or do alone.
They may resent their karmic role of protector and elder especially if their chart indicates they will get no reward/recognition for this role.
Because JYESTHA whilst their nakshatra is associated with responsibility, it is ANURADHA that is associated with cooperation + devotion. Thus, JYESTHA can begrudgingly take on responsibility.
FOR EXAMPLE: Let’s say someone has…

This shows this person has karma related to their siblings/cousins/community.
They may frequently be forced into a role where they are giving time and effort to others.
Their life role may force them to intentionally or even unintentionally protect others.
By unintentionally, I mean this person could karmically fail at something like University (if the chart indicates it) or maybe they “fail” in that they get caught doing something wrong. Then, when a sibling or cousin fails or does something wrong
everyone points at the Jyestha person as having failed first or potentially worse.
Thus, the sibling or cousin is protected from a harsher wrath as Jyestha is forced to take the worst of it.
Depending on the Jyestha person’s karma - they may either be given special treatment in a good way or a worse way like being the least liked/most bullied family member.
EXAMPLE 2: Another example is…
Sun JYESTHA (esp if conjunct Ketu or Rahu or in PADA 3) can indicate this person has to take on the father role.
This can create resentment and anger at the father for his incompetence or absence.
THE 4 PADAS:
Pada 1 - Sag connection
This is the luckier pada even if the individual does not feel lucky. You may be secretly saved by the universe from a worse fate.
The karmic lesson is more likely connection to something abstract and emotional. Like not becoming connected to one singular viewpoint, embracing different ways of thinking.
IRL ex: This person when young lacked understanding and compassion for many esp addicts. He viewed it as a result of lazy choices and poor parenting.
When his own son developed a meth addiction in his 20s, this person was forced to undergo a traumatic few years to understand his son and get him help.
While you may feel this example is completely unlucky, his son lived and has been sober for 2 decades. That is lucky when you compare it to those who lose their children to addiction.

Pada 2 - Cap connection.
This is connected to duty. This person may neutrally take on their karmas without even knowing they are doing it.
More likely to be given the karmic duty to provide and succeed materialistically and/or have a career position requiring you to protect.
You are most likely to eventually desire to live outside the grid - although this depends on other placements.
I have seen a person with MOON JYESTHA PADA 2 in their elder age purchase properties away from city and suburbs. Opting to live in mountains or very isolated rural areas.
Pada 3 - Aqua connection.
Scorpio + Aqua are the most karmic signs. Thus, experiencing Scorpio and Aqua is a doubling down on the intensity of your karma.
Your karma is likely to lead you to isolation too. People are unlikely to be understanding to your life experiences and low points.
Pada 4 - Pisces connection.
Generally a luckier pada even if the individual does not feel lucky. You may be secretly saved by the universe from a worse fate.
You are more likely to accept your karma out of your own compassion without even realizing it.
Your soul is least likely to have come here begrudgingly. Your soul is prepared intuitively to face this karma.
Your karma is more likely to involve letting go, forgiving, intuition, accepting and moving on.
However, not everyone believes in reincarnation.
Thus, this karma may not be from past life behaviours but simply the lessons you came here to learn.

Graha Maitri / Planetary Alliance Notesheets
These are the notesheets I built for myself on the Graha Maitri (as per the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra which I'm currently still on, there are other forms that arrange the alliances a bit differently)
I'm sure there are plenty of people who already know how it works, but I'm going to reiterate it for the sake of my online notes and for those who haven't gotten to it yet.
The Graha Maitri is a method of measuring how harmonious a planetary combination is and understanding how two planets will interact in a chart.
The planets have relationships that are inherent/permanent/natural to them (Naisargika Maitri). And there are stories that shed additional light on the nature and manifestations of these inherent relationships in the puranas and other texts.
Planets who are friends produce harmonious results when in combination
Planets who are neutral produce neutral or mild or mixed results
Planets who are enemies produce strenuous results, create friction, and result in obstacles/trouble
Then they have "temporary" relationships (Tatkalika Maitri) that are determinant on house placement. This is dependent on the individual chart.
Friends 🤗 Planets become temporary friends if they are placed in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 10th, 11th, and 12th house from eachother
Enemies 😡 Planets become temporary enemies if they are placed in the 1st, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, or 9th house from eachother.
Now, in order to get the final relationship (Panchadha Maitri), we add the temporary and permanent relationship together, like a math problem.
Permanent relationship + Temporary relationship = Final relationship
And this final relationship shows how the two planets will harmonize together in a chart. Yay
And remember that we have to do this for both planets in an aspect, since some have friendship/enemy status in their Permanent Relationships that isn't reciprocated.
This is one of many systems used to gain insight on how planetary themes will interact with eachother in a chart.

Melanie could have rohini moon (unknown birth time) and Kenzie has jyestha sun.
I believe that Kenzie sees Melanie as a threat, which I think mirrors the story of Chandra and his wives.
Chandra had 27 wives (aka the 27 nakshatras). He neglected all of them except for Rohini, who was his favorite. It is said that Jyestha was his least favorite. Some versions of the story also mention Jyestha’s jealousy of Rohini, which caused them to become enemies.

Kenzie could be a libra or scorpio vishakha moon, depending on what her birth time is. There's also a small window of time she could be anuradha moon.
What's the consensus on Zach's sun + moon combo? He could be chitra sun + revati moon OR swati sun + ashwini moon OR swati sun + revati moon.
Zach's sun is in nakshatra sandhi (cusp position) so it's super sensitive to time...

There is a bigger window (in terms of time) for swati sun + ashwini moon but I just wanted to know what everyone thinks.
Someone said being (real) will save you from manipulation and i couldn’t agree more. Sun nakashtras are the ones who are known for being ‘real’ mostly, therefore the least manipulated. Specially Uttara Ashadha which is the enemy nakshtra of most snake nakashtras (like rohini, ashlesha). the mongoose (uttara ashdha animal) is the only animal that is immune to snake venom and can destroy them even.

Melanie has SIDEREAL taurus moon and Sincere has SIDEREAL sagittarius moon. their moons are in 6/8 relationship. also, venus is an enemy to jupiter.

their venus rashi signs are in 5/9 relation which could be why they were initially super drawn to each other.
when Melanie first met Sincere, she mentioned that he seems familiar (Sincere's venus is 5 houses away from Melanie's). 5th house = purva punya (past life merits).
EDIT: i forgot to mention Melanie's ketu conjuncts Sincere's natal sag moon/mars (which also plays into the 'familiar' aspect). i also made a correction to Melanie's birthplace.

MITHUNA: THE REAL NATURE OF GEMINI
Popularly, the Gemini sign is seen as bipolar; its natives are characterized as dual. Modern (Western) astrology believes that this sign is represented by two identical figures, twin brothers. When I was a follower of tropical astrology, I heard an explanation for why Geminis carried this dual characteristic: it has to do with two twin brothers where one dies and the other goes to the underworld and asks to switch places with his brother (some versions say that the brother asks for his brother to return to life). The lord of the underworld accepts on the following condition: while your brother is back, you stay, and vice versa. This is how the energy of Gemini is explained.
In Jyotish, the duality of Gemini is something much deeper, involving energies and tantra. Gemini in hinduism is Mithuna, which comes from Maithuna. Maithuna/Mithuna is a sanskrit term representing a sexual union ritual. I won't post images here due to Tumblr's policy, but when searching for images of Mithuna on Google, you'll come across pictures of statues of a man and a woman in erotic poses.
Mithuna is a representation of a man and a woman, side by side, each touching the other's genitals. They are not engaging in sexual intercourse, there is no penetration, but they are in contact with regions that carry the symbolism of the primordial energy of both man and woman. Therefore, Mithuna (Gemini) is the representation of the symbiosis between masculine and feminine energy.
Gemini is dual because it carries two energies: masculine and feminine. Regardless of gender, Gemini natives are able to be expansive because they possess both energies. Living in a society where they have to choose a side is a big problem for Geminis. Gemini is not dual to the point of separation, but rather of integration, and that is why natives are indecisive and do not make quick decisions: they don't want to choose between one or the other, they want both, they want everything.
I previously spoke about the Ardra nakshatra and its rebellious nature, but I believe that Gemini in general carries this rebellious air, of being different and not fitting into a social pattern due to the integration of two opposing energies, the feminine and the masculine. Their worldview is not separated between what is feminine and what is masculine since they possess this natural integration. Gemini women, for example, usually exhibit tomboyish characteristics from childhood, or dislike girly games like playing house.
Mithuna is the perfect symbiosis between masculine and feminine energy; they possess the ability to understand the difference between the two sides and become indecisive when choosing only one. I believe it's a mistake to describe Gemini as dual because even when they choose a side, they don't remain faithful to their choice and keep fluctuating, leading others to describe them as deceitful. Gemini unites, it doesn't separate. It is symbiosis of duality, not separation.
Their dual nature, between feminine and masculine, is reflected in their appearance. It is described that those born under the sign of Gemini typically possess androgynous characteristics, which is a blend of masculine and feminine physical traits resulting in an ethereal appearance.
