Some 'Exams' :)
All follow the same pattern: aortic, pulm, tricuspid, mitral. Tried to do approx. 30sec at each area. What is your favourite area to listen to? (Apologies for the mic moving noises and quality) As always, opinions are adored <3

Hyperate back on post shower :)

Too warm and a bit jumpy as usual :O
Hyperate is on. Feeling rough. Just having a lie down.
115bpm atm but feels so flip-floppy/alternating. Just feels like up/down/up/down in little runs.

Oops. Unfortunately realised my hyperate wasn’t on today. My bad.
Stupid hyperate keeps disconnecting and giving me new codes. Active now.
I should have it active tomorrow for my shift (short shift lol) so 07:30-10:30 (it’s 21:15 for me rn for context)

Tired.
So tired. GP yesterday. Good news? ABPM and bloods. Bad news? Everything else.
She did ‘orthostatic vitals’. After walking up a flight of stairs. Sat and standing. 130/80. 130/80. So I can’t have those issues (sarcasm). It’s so picky. ‘Oh well your BP is okay today resting’. Okay well if that’s my resting BP then my resting HR is 124?? Nah. Because ‘you just walked upstairs’. Uhhuh.
Told her I’ve been having dizzy/faint spells. ‘But have you lost consciousness’.
No. I just do this really fun thing where my eyes go fixed and I jerk. But at least I don’t black out I guess.
Drink more. Eat more. Funny enough, the amount I eat and drink hasn’t changed. Funny enough, when I complained about unintentionally losing weight it wasn’t a concern but now it’s the reason for everything?
‘Your ECG from a couple months ago was normal’. Yeah cool. Nice.
I sat for an hour today on lunch. No caffeine. 150s.
I’m so fuckin tired.
What do you guys think is better/prefer?

I am beyond wrecked.
Stayed an hour over and still left with tasks due. Patient had deteriorated around 17:30 and I had a new admit just beforehand.
My arms are scratched from this morning. My white tunic has my lunch coffee all over it (my brand new cup leaked). I was with my really poorly patient so no evening break and it’s that time of the month. So it’s safe to say that I was a disaster. But I did leave my shift with that patient stable.
This shift has been crazy.
Been baptised with porridge. Been stuck with my wrist in an iron tight grip for ten minutes. Been slapped on the ass. Been grabbed/hit/kicked/scratched/etc.
Another shift. Another graph. In pther news: I have my hyperate on at the moment. Not sure how accurate it’ll be because I do feel kinda skippy 🤷♀️

Saturday shift ✅
Was an okay shift. 18 degrees compared to the 26-28C range we’ve had since Tuesday so definitely thought HR and BP might sort themselves out a bit 🤷♀️
Tomorrow seems like it’ll be a tough one based on how things were when I was leaving tonight. We’ll see 🥱
Hmmm. I feel like I’m doing something wrong with these readings. Like I’m doing everything I know to do.
Resting for a couple minutes. Sat with back supported. Feet flat on the ground. Cuff snug. Same arm (mostly, apart from that one right arm reading out of curiosity). Arm supported so the cuff is heart level. No talking. Relaxed.
But the readings just seem wrong. I dunno. Like there have been a couple completely weird readings (aside from the constant errors the other day). Had a 74/43 with 86bpm (I was dizzy tbf) but yeah, I dunno.
Does the pattern of readings make sense? I’m so used to work and the EWS system that if I got some of these on a patient, I’d be bleeping the intern lol. Maybe I just have work brain :)
Woke up with so many petechiae on my face. Like my entire face is covered. Nothing anywhere else on my body. Very strange lol
Current HR: 115bpm. Sat at desk :)
I’d love an exam/investigation. Not even necessarily from a cardiophile perspective. Tired of asking to be checked and getting brushed off. Of course from a cardiophile perspective, an exam would be so interesting and fun but just from a basic ahh medical side, is it such a crime to want something as basic as someone listening to your heart just to verify everything is chill? 😭
Kinda crazy to think I’m 23 and asking the GP for even a basic general checkup is like asking for a million quid. Like yes, Dr, maybe I would like to know if there’s even like an innocent murmur just for peace of mind. 🤷♀️
Healthcare. The game you can’t win.
But seriously, even GPs see a doctor. Just because you work in healthcare doesn’t mean you can treat yourself. Like unless I had a pretty obvious rhythm issue I don’t think I’d genuinely be able to tell if there was anything funky in my own auscultation because obviously I’m influenced by my own breathing and everything. It’s not objective. Yknow? It’s just tiring.
I don’t exactly want to say ‘can I have a repeat ECG because your staff placed the leads wrong’ because that’s kinda bitchy lol. ECGs are just my roman empire
TLDR: I just basically want an auscultation lmao.
Second shift down 2/2
I did ask if I could do the four available night shifts but management declined so just two for me. Kinda sucks but 🤷♀️
More details/run down below if interested <3
Shift 1 down 🙂
Round two tonight. At least this time I didn’t take my ADHD meds in the ‘normal person’ morning and then take a second dose at 0200 🥲 that 60mg at 0200, 2L water and 2 coffees had me on LOCK.
Work has an ice-cream van in today so very jealous of my dayshift peeps but I finished shift to a big hug from a fellow intern 🫶
Personally, I like night shifts. It’s just a different tone. Day shift is hard. Night shift is hard but day shift just has so many judgy eyes and my tolerance is not all that 🤭 I’m too confrontational for management 😅
(Yup this is a repost to add the audio. Feel like I’ve been slacking on the audios but the quality has been ass so I haven’t been happy posting any of em)
