Free Marches Market Stalls
I love these stalls, and I love the new transparency in patterns! I remade these Free Marches patterns and added a nice chevron edge so they look like festive market booths from the Free Marches. I’m not sure what we’re selling out here yet, but here’s hoping we get those wood display stands in New Horizons to fully deck out this square!

Yes! Or, that’s the plan, anyway! Even though you can scan in the ACNL QR codes through the Nintendo app and wear them yourself, taking them any further doesn’t quite seem possible. I can’t edit them (and I don’t think there’s a way to flag them as my own), and recreating them isn’t possible because... the long-sleeved clothing options don’t exist??
If I’m missing something here, please let me know! For my New Leaf patterns I mainly used the long-sleeve t-shirt and the long-sleeved dress, neither of which seem to exist in New Horizons. The closest I get is a collared shirt (where the color will remain in the texture whatever I do) and a long-sleeved dress that looks suitable for Princess Peach, with its puffy sleeves and huge skirt. Hmm.
I’m still trying to decide what to do here. For now I’ve made a few attempts at flags and furniture patterns that I’ll be posting, but the clothing has me stumped. None of these options quite work for the armors I had been designing, and that’s deflated my enthusiasm a little.

Kirkwall House Tours: Meggin
Here we are, the fourth and final house tour! Our first villager, Mayor Meggin, wears Hawke’s finery and lives in none other than the Hawke Estate!
A sturdy exterior and a Golden fence give a little Hightown glamour. The Sweets mailbox is jus because I love it, and it’s my house!
Inside the main room in the main room of the Hawke Estate. Just with a couch because you gotta sit somewhere! To the left of the room is Sandal & Bodhain’s wares and enchanting materials. In the back is a desk full of mail!
He’s not a Mabari, but a cute dog was a must!
The left-side room is the library area.
Leandra hangs out in here with some knitting and... oh god, a bouquet of white flowers??
The room at the far right is the kitchen, which we never see in DA2 but I assume there has to be one. Plus, I love the food items in Animal Crossing!
Bethany in her Circle robes hangs out in here. It’s always a good time for a snack.
In the rear of the house is a courtyard, sort of loosely based on Hightown. More colorful though!
I suppose I could have displayed Carver here, but...I didn’t. So instead it’s a Grey Warden, because the armor they introduce for their uniform is pretty cute! I’m a fan, anyway.
Upstairs is Hawke’s room! Our dog friend makes a reappearance.
So much paperwork, and also a portrait of a woman? I always imagined it was a younger Leandra.
Downstairs, past the cellar and through a secret passage, we have Anders’ Clinic!
It has seen better days, but the beds look clean!
And a shelf of potentially useful supplies!

Dennis, dressed in Charade’s outfit, lives in a house that is a lot of non-Hightown places.
We’ve got a more weathered exterior than Brennan’s Hightown house. Pretty rustic!
The main room is The Hanged Man! I placed the map icon sign for The Hanged Man outside of Brewster’s Cafe, but if you’re looking for a real tavern, here it is!
Isabela hangs out here at the counter, with her perfectly good money being ignored. (I also gave her her dream hat, haha)
I’m really happy with the mugs! They’re textured to look like the beer mugs in Dragon Age Inquisition.
Directly behind the main room is Varric’s room!
You can find Varric back here, probably working on one of his many businesses. Those side-hustles!
And a bed tucked away in the corner.
The room to the left side is an approximation of the Docks.
There’s a nice sea view and lots of ships!
Some dock supplies stacked up in the corner.
To the right of the main room is the Gallows courtyard.
The vendor we meet early on is set up here! Well, his booth is, anyway.
More shops to the back, selling mysterious bottles of something and some helpful armor pieces.
Upstairs is the combined offices of Knight Commander Meredith and First Enchanter Orsino.
Orsino is hanging out in the back with some books.
Meredith is very close to a sword. Oh dear...
Escape to the basement, which is also Darktown! It is definitely very dark.
Some crumbly walls and suspicious shops are in the back here.
What’s even in that bag, I wonder?
Lots of little fires to give it that, ah, homey touch.

Villager #3 is Brennan! She’s part of the city guard and lives in a house that’s full of Hightown locations.
Outside is a training field full of dummies. Nevermind that they look like scarecrows - they’re full of straw and that’s what matters!
The main room in the main hall of Viscount’s Keep. Lots of places to sit and wait until the Viscount is less busy. You may be waiting a while...

The back room is that big spooky, uh, throne room? I still don’t super understand why it exists, but it’s here too! Lots of flags and armor and fancy benches covered in suspicious magic tomes for your perusal.
The right-side room is the guard barracks. What a mess! Lots of bunks and guard paraphernalia.
Some Sloppy furniture items felt appropriate.

The left-side rom is the Viscount’s office. Dumar doesn’t look particularly busy after all...
But there’s a lot of paperwork to do. Also, I really ran with how many plants he’s got going on in here. Not a lot of locations had nice plants!
He’s also an art guy.
Downstairs is The Blooming Rose, which I took a few liberties with. Quite a few Gorgeous pieces, since they’re so fancy, even though the real Rose rooms weren’t quite so decked out. It’s a vibe thing.
Please take off your shoes.
Lots of space for all manner of entertaining.
Last but not least, and maybe just where you need to visit next - upstairs in the Chantry! Time to get right with Andraste.
Both Sebastian and Grand Cleric Elthina hang out up here. They’re probably having a heated debate about something or other. Good luck with that!

Kirkwall House Tours: Kallis
Let’s start with the fourth villager in Kirkwall: Kallis! She’s wearing Zevran’s Armor and her home is nestled deep in the forests on Sundermount.
I opted for some natural exterior elements - log cabin walls, grass roof, etc. It may not be an aravell, but I think the elves would approve.
The main room is my approximation of the elven camp at Sundermount. I’ve used a daisy meadow and a summit wall, and the giant mountain in the corner kinda drives the theme home, huh?
In the corner we have Master Ilen’s shop, with some ore for crafting his wares. I know he’s more of an ironwood fan, but sometimes all you can find is iron.
The mannequin here is also wearing Zevran’s Armor, but they’re not meant to be Zevran. I’m realizing at exactly this moment that Merithari’s Robes would have been a better choice. Hmmm, guess I know which pattern is next!
To the right we have the Deep Roads! That small dungeon area accessed at the back end of the Sundermount map. The lava wall really gave it that glowy, ominous effect.
To the left is the Storm Coast. The mannequin here isn’t wearing anything custom, but the cow skull hat gives him a Qunari vibe. Add in lots of rocks and terrain to hide behind!
The back room, and the rest of the rooms, aren’t technically in Sundermount. This is Merrill’s house though, so it fits thematically! Her Lowtown home in the alienage is rundown but fairly full of stuff. Have you seen all her cheese??
So much cheese. And an impressive fireplace!
And of course a mirror...
Upstairs is Fenris’ estate. Or, well, the estate he took over. Shockingly ACNL doesn’t have a lot of broken bottles, corpses, and general debris to choose from, so I made some choices. I mix and matched Sloppy furniture and Gorgeous furniture for that “fancy in decay” vibe his place has.

In the basement I made a spooky graveyard, party because I ran out of identifiable areas to create, and partly because it’s not a Dragomn Age game without a spooky graveyard. This one could be the one on top of Sundermount. Just...ignore that I put it underneath my Sundermount.

The dream and dream address have finally been updated, and I consider my town basically done. It only took me seven years!

For the next four days I’ll be posting photo tours of the houses and all the Kirkwall locations they’re an attempt to imitate, but now you can visit whenever you’d like!
It has been so fun to create Kirkwall with you all, and I’m so excited to continue the adventure on the island of Thedas, starting Friday. Look forward to not only more photos and patterns, but videos! Yay!
Dragon Age 2: Knight Commander Meredith’s Armor
It only took me *checks notes* SIX AND A HALF YEARS to follow up on that promise from the Orsino’s Robes post. Yikes, what even is time?
Meredith’s Armor is the last pattern I needed to fully realize the plans for my New Leaf town, so I figured I’d knock one more pattern out in the old digs before we all head to our deserted islands! Now you and your village nemesis can truly antagonize each other is style. Pair this one with a red hood and some armor shoes for the full effect.
Next week I’ll take you on a tour of the finished houses in my Kirkwall (one each day, Mon-Thu) before we wave goodbye. Look forward to me fixing / updating my dream address in the coming days too! ^-^;

This morning’s Animal Crossing Direct shed a lot of light on the features available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and I’m happy to say that Kirkwall Crossing will be coming back!! Look forward to it, and happy building!

I made them, on top of some cheap flats. It’s a project I’d LOVE to revisit and refine, but I don’t know if I’ll have the opportunity anytime soon.
Essentially, I made a pattern of my leg in the shoe (plastic wrap & layers of painters tape), made the upper shoes (two different fabrics, paint, buckles, odds-n-ends), then stitched them to the shoes with a curved upholstery needle. I’d recommend leaving excess fabric where you stitch them to the shoe so yours can be neatened up a lot nicer than mine - I trimmed too close and they look pretty bad down there.

This finery is the perfect outfit for the Mayor who has retaken their ancestral manor and wants everyone to know they’re back on top. Be wary of mysterious flower deliveries if this is the life choice you make, however, or you won’t need the outfit for long.

so i’ve been spending a lot of time in Animal Crossing New Leaf gathering up my favorite set (alpine) and refurbishing it to my favorite style (dark wood and leaf pattern) and it’s looking really nice, it’s my second floor room like a little attic bedroom
admittedly, though, there’s one piece that doesn’t quite fit with the rest of the room… doesn’t quite match the natural colors and muted tones……

After a year of fumbling about in Amiibo Festival and Happy Home Designer, Animal Crossing Amiibo figures and cards are finally making it into the main event. Four years after its initial release, Animal Crossing: New Leaf is getting Amiibo support.
