This is my parametric design sculpture I did for an exibition "042fest" in Stara Zagora.
The model was done using Kangaroo simulation (see my previous post), lasercut with Industrial Lasercutter out of 0,5mm aluminium sheets, bent by hand and connected with 200 bolts. The object came out very stable and rigid for its weight.
Dimensions: 2,60m x 2,20m x 0,97m

It all started with with this street furniture concept I did last year. It was done using the great Grasshopper plug-in from Daniel Piker - Kangaroo and its Equilateralize funktion with some mesh operations from Giulio Piacentino's plug-in Weaverbird
I wanted to somehow build it ,but I had problem managing the right angle between triangles corresponding to the tabs so the project got frozen.
That was so until I found this great series of tutorials from Ex-Lab(exlab.org/) and Elseware (elsewarecollective.com/), I really liked the approach on this video ( http://vimeo.com/60798305 ), so I wanted to test it instantly.
Using their method I unfolded all triangles and printed it all on cardboard.I've decided to do all the cutting manually - Yes, it took me 3 weeks cutting and gluing every day after work , but time is relative, I wanted to do my own research on the connection between virtual and physical , between computer generated and the natural beauty of handcrafted work, thats why I also coverd the whole thing with kind of gypsum using a brush, it came out as a raw texture effect wich was kind of nice.
So this is the result , I'm pretty happy with it, the form is very close to the 3d modell, despite the fact it was all cut by hand. My next step would be 1:1 model, I hope.

Reblog this, so that we can see who’s who.
After a week or two, I’ll post every single blog that has an architect/architecture student behind it, or any blog that has something to do with architecture.
It will be a nice promo for everyone.
