Update on Kiryu's tattoo.

I'm still laying in midtones, but I also started working on the background. I wanted a nice jewel-tone green to pop the red flames. The charm looks good, so it worked out like I was hoping! 😄

Background done! The next thing is finishing laying in the rest of the midtones.

I've been thinking about how to paint the dragon's scales for weeks now.

I don't think the original design will work as well in oil paints so I'll be using large fish scales as a visual reference.

I think the scales are a good place to bring in texture, so I'm considering the best methods for achieving that.

I'll also probably fiddle around with the background a touch more because it got too wet a couple of places where I want a slightly different look.

I've been sick so I haven't had a chance to work on Kiryu's tattoo until today.

Added darker darks- mostly to the face, in Payne's Grey from Vasari. Don't mind the mess on the belly, that's texture for later.
