“We all have a purpose, but there may be fluctuations in your momentum to getting there. Sometimes it may not seem you are not moving forward but even if you get “off track,” you will always come back. When it doesn’t seem like you are getting anywhere, have faith in an unchanging, unconditional force, like the Universe, Oshun, God, or some other divine intelligence that everything is working out for your highest good and the universe is conspiring to help you. Let everything –good, bad, right, or, wrong serve you. If you begin to look at your experiences in a more thoughtful way, even the shittiest of experiences orbit into fertiliser that grows flowers from the inside out. Clean up your brain, heart, and gut in order to unearth the brightest soil. And feel blessed.”
— India Ame’ye, Author,
Beauty and booty will only take you so far. You need need skills of confidence, grace, charm, nourishment, intuition, and mental strategy. You must take care of your body AND your brain because your intelligence and ability to critically think-- decode, discern and synthesize information-- play a huge role in your quality of life in the future. -India Ame'ye, Author
Truth be told, if the communication is bad, it is most likely because this person doesn’t really like you. They are not feeling you in the way you are feeling them or they would be responding back to your messages. It doesn’t matter how busy a person’s life is, they will always make time for someone who they are really interested in. It is these kind of one-sided relationships that can drain your life force vitality—natural beauty, money, and opportunities included. With a potential healthy lover, you will never have to wonder or guess. When someone is really feeling you, nothing on planet earth will stop them from showing it. You won’t have to wait or chase and force them to respond. Their communications will be as clear and thoughtful as the daytime sky. -India Ame’ye, Author, From “The Melody of Love” Chapter: Dating Advice From Auntie India “
The "good girl" conditioning is not the same thing as a "good woman." A good woman gives because it is in her nature to live in the overflow of giving and receiving. She is a relaxed, encouraging woman and her light/radiance/warmth can be felt from far away. A good woman is filled up with life and her joy is contagious. She is a good woman, not a "good girl" who tries to please others and desperately seeks to be liked. A good woman is so pleased with herself that her insides radiate outwards and effect change and transformation in those she encounters. -India Ame'ye, Author
Women are naturally oracular. We hear, see and feel the signs very early but don’t take them seriously. Our intuition tells us that something is not right about the person. Begin to let go of all acquaintances, potential friends or potential lovers who show early signs of lack of care and consideration for your wellbeing. Nip it in the bud early. Don’t be a pawn in their game of carelessness and heart trauma. Don’t give 2nd and 3rd chances because what happened in the past will likely happen again. In other words, don’t ignore red flags because you desperately want the connection. Trust yourself and be done with them. —India Ame’ye
Many women follow the advice of men on how to eat and be healthy. As a woman, this geometry has never added up well to me. Think about it, whether it is Dr. Sebi, Aris Latham, Yakhi, Yada, and others, it is men who women trust around the feminine wellness of female physiology, men who have no intelligence on what it feels or looks like to live in an lubricated female body that naturally gets wet without effort. Women don’t know their own bodies —don’t listen to the ancient instinctual intelligence within their own wombs, breasts, and hips. All of the above are reasons for most ailments and chronic issues in the female line. In other words, men can be lovely…but please stop listening them as the end-all-be-all expert, whether on spirituality or the health and wellness of the female body. —India Ame’ye, “What to Eat for Healthy Female Physiology” chapter
I’m back!!!!!!
It was good for a while, being empty. I didn’t hurt anymore. But as time went on, it was like I could hear myself from far away, begging for permission to come back.

I’ve experienced firsts
First Halloween
First Thanksgiving
First Christmas
And now first Mother’s Day
This one is different
Mother’s Day is the genesis of creation
It’s the essence of the existence of my womanhood
My mother
With whom I shared her womb
Heard her heart
Felt her soul from the inside
I am her twin
My heartbeat is slowed
The memory lines in the palm of my hand remembers your existence
My memory replays our moments
A motherless daughter celebrating motherhood
You’ve instilled the progression of strength within me
I carry my son with your instructions
Your manual
It’s been re-written
Scratched out
And re-worded
But the blueprint is the original
It remains the same
Everything I am as a mother
Is because of you
Strength
Attitude
Perseverance
The recipes of a strong Queen
Even though you are missed
Your spirit in inside enabling me to keep striving
Keep going
Keep living
Keep loving
You will always be my first teacher
Whose lessons get me through the hard experiences
Thank you for inspiring me
And thank you for the footprints that led to motherhood

🦋Mommy Blog Post 🦋
Everything is costly when you’re a single mother, truly single. Moving, groceries, bills etc.
🦋
Employment depends upon your child’s schedule and corporations aren’t interested in bending to adapt. It’s either take this job at a low wage and shitty hours or if you’re lucky to know someone, maybe they could pull strings and get you in...(that’s if Karen is retiring). I remember back in the day, having someone that look like me would’ve been an incentive, but now they hold you back or they’re not willing to help someone who looks like the single mother who raised them. Robbing Peter to pay Paul, rearranging bills, and having enough energy to still cook, clean, and still conquer what they call homework nowadays.
🦋
Energy on low, sometimes being a mother is exhausting and you need an off day just to remember you. Remember what it feels like to shower without interruptions or eat without hurrying. Clothes are made different, so you have to spend more because your child grows like a weed and not to mention the shoe sizes and cost!
🦋
There’s a stigma that we are lazy or we placed ourselves in this position. We are tired, truly tired. Everyday we wake up, it’s a survival mode. Survival of what/how we’re going to eat, a surprise bill in the mail, or all of a sudden your child’s shoes are too little and the pants are rising.
🦋
You forget about you sometimes because you’re always worried about your kids. You don’t have time to be sick or sick and tired. Don’t even think about grieving or experiencing a heartbreak because you still have to push your way through. Anything relating to emotions have to be disregarded because you are responsible for this little human. You have to pave the way so that their journey won’t resemble yours in the future.
🦋
Being a mother is more than ‘oohing and ahhing over cute clothes and playing dress up. To be a mother is the highest form of sacrificial and unconditional love. It’s not to be taken lightly.
🦋
Shoutout to all moms out there who are exhausted but still pushing through. We are the definition of, “Fuck it, I’ll do it,” but that doesn’t mean we want to do it alone and independently forever.
Where is your tribe?
Times of difficulty often expose the strong and the weak. The unsupportive and the supportive. The kindhearted and the lack thereof. It is during these times; you desperately cling on to any resemblance of normality. Everyday events, such as getting up out of bed can prove to be a disservice to the depression and anxiety that refuses to take a back seat in your life, I often wondered about the expressions such as, "God won't put no more on you than you can bear," or "have the faith of a mustard seed." It’s questionable whether someone truly experienced rock bottom when they wrote or said this; or did it just sound good to someone who has never succumbed to the struggle?
After the loss of my mother, I quickly found out just how tough life can get. The support. The encouragement. The companionship. The Love. Just having a mother, a confidant on earth to fully make you aware of your being. I've died two deaths that day my mom transitioned. The loss of me and the loss of her. I forgot how to be a woman in all my entirety.
Growing up, we've always struggled, but me and my mom were a team. We were each other’s backbone. Yes, it was very much a co-dependent relationship in which my navel was left uncut. In other words, just because the umbilical cord was cut, my attachment physically had not been severed. Here I was, a motherless child being a mother; a single mother at that. I had to be a parent who had to re-parent herself while grieving. While not recognizing the woman, I’ve become. While being depressed. While constantly crying in secrecy and fatigued in spirit. How could I explain to my 10-year-old that mommy just doesn’t feel like being a mother today? It sounds awful as I type it, but honesty is all I have that has not been taken from me. It’s the only lifeline to me and Spirit. I cannot function on waking or sleeping hours without the enabling of alcohol or sleeping pills. I didn’t want to be dependent upon that, so I opted out of taking them and just survive from no more than 1-3 hours a day of sleep.
My son sat me down one day and told me that I look tired. I am not who he is used to seeing. He asked me, “Mama are you depressed? Because you know that leads to stress, and that leads to anxiety, and pretty soon the suicidal thoughts come in.” I sat and looked at him bewildered. I asked him how he came to this conclusion and he simply said, “I researched it.” Something he saw in me made him curious; it made him study me in a profound way that promoted my behavior as abnormal. I looked at him with tears in my eyes and I said, “I am supposed to parent you. I guess intellect has been passed down by the ancestors into your embodiment.” He said, “I just listen when you talk and give me encouragement so I’m giving it back to you.”
At that moment, I was in complete and total awe. I knew things were bad, but I didn’t know I had checked out mentally and just existed on autopilot. I thought if I kept myself busy, nobody would notice how sad I was, the bags under my eyes, the weight loss and the self-loathing. I was existing. I was operating with a dead soul on the inside. I still haven’t quite revived it. Lucid dreaming is the only control I have and it’s the only way I can create a new concept to my warped reality.
How can I NOT be around and people don’t notice my withdrawals, my isolation, my departure from everyday current events? The biggest lie people tell you are the lies they tell you after the funeral: “Anything you need, I’m here,” “I’m a phone call away,” “You are going to get tired of me because I won't let you be alone.” The list goes on and on. Phone calls and texts replace touch. Sending messages like, “How are you?’ are deemed effort worthy. Nobody really has time to check on you because self comes first with them. I don’t answer the phone and I simply text back with, “I’m ok.” That’s enough to suffice their curiosity. The sudden excitement around death has passed now so people are on to the next best thing. You are supposed to be over it and moved on in a matter of days, sometimes weeks. You are not supposed to still be crying, still empty, still numb. LIFE HAPPENS! GET OVER IT!
I never knew inhumanness or insensitivity until I experienced the greatest loss of my life. Elders and family, I looked up to are now strangers. Friends aren’t friends anymore and they are blowing in the wind. Caring and compassion are limited. It has a trial basis. And my trial has expired. Depression will have you hiding. Closed off. Not answering the phone. These things are overlooked because you “look strong.” Nothing appears wrong because you logged into your Facebook page today and made an inspirational post today. All is well. You even took a selfie. You combed your hair. You looked nice. You are healing well.
When I lost my mother, I thought in some corner of my mind, that my father and I would somehow bury the hatchet and become closer, That was wishful thinking on my part. The universe has a way of manifesting your fears faster than your dreams. Let’s just say that I lost both of my parents. My father and I’s relationship have always been problematic, toxic, and dysfunctional, often resulting in intense verbal abuse and physical. I can’t depend on my brother because addiction has taken over his life so on a good day, I would have to catch him before his next high.
Change. That’s the biggest part I have a problem with. The void. The phantom, limb of physical missing her. I am a diamond before it is beautified. I’ve been pressed down, shaken together, put through the fire. I am sackcloth that has been adorned in soot, in ashes. I am broken.
