inadequacy - the state or quality of being inadequate, meaning not enough or not sufficient.

“we’re both ladies”
guilty
her gaze crosses the table to mine
i can’t help but enter a silent, deadly competition
except there’s no winning,
the podium (vain victories) rewards me with pyrite medals while she has you
and unmistakably, i’m no madonna
the cosmos ensured i belonged to no one
permanently pushed into the paper of the other woman,
like Lana said
punishing kind of love, the ever-rewinding cassette
my eardrums and sternum are pierced
and you’re foxgloves on the cracks, my tongue
(the world is so unfair, i have to die)
we’re both ladies
we’re both girls who see
serotonin wrapped around the foreign voice of a man
my nose burns with remorse at the scent of cologne
firecrackers
cocaine through a hundred-dollar bill
to waste on smoke before dawn
out inside the car,
grey leaves soft kisses on my skin, wool over russell’s sign
my sight to keep
American schools are awful to be in, the schoolgirls judge, gossip, compare
and i tie my loafers, purse my lips (they match my tie)
we’re both ladies
i try to swallow the feeling
another prozac dose to take
the sour makes my eyebrows furrow
watery eyes slip free
the sight of her (girl) crime and punishment, novel reads
butterflies
tobacco dip, you’re dizzying.

I wouldn't relive 2025 for no amount of money
when the only person standing between you and getting better is yourself </3
“the sky is infinite”
the cold air makes me miss you
or that feeling of self loathing running through my veins the same way shivers come in
my favorite place to be— a sanctuary turned confectionery confinement but whose venom felt warmer than that of fire or anyone else’s embrace
the sky seems infinite, the way it continues and reaches my past. once not merely mine. then comes back and engulfs the atmosphere with all oxygen inside it
the cold air makes me cease the philosophy of it all, absorbed by every sulci of mine and creating a neverending vortex; wishing i were infinite.
Girls always start dating the most awful man and start saying things like "he's my rock." Yesss girl, and you are Sisyphus. Have fun with that one.
“the seats are empty.
the theatre is dark.
why do you keep acting?”
- charles bukowski
“this winter”
it’s dusk and you saunter over to the kitchen,
clothes are embedding your body.
shirt, sweater, sweatpants, socks,
and the gelid sensation of this winter particularly lingers on your skin.
and it advances until remaining in a circular motion on your chest.
mounts of snow piled upon your ribcage and thorax.
the perfect formula to create an overwhelming heftiness.
sickening— similar to the familiar feeling creeping up your throat.
disallowing you from consuming anything properly.
bringing your trembling hands towards the pearly white wooden cabinets.
they tug at the small container of instant coffee,
you discarded the lid who-knows-where, and it has dried up.
making it remain inside the glass steadily.
as you bring the cerulean plasticky straw in-between your lips, the taste of the almond milk on your tongue makes you nauseous once more.
everything manages to make you nauseous nowadays.
but that is normal, correct? correct.
simply part of your everyday routine. the routine of this winter.
just like the shivering, and the burning in the bottom of the whites of your eyes.
staring at the window above the cabinets and the dark night sky,
reminding yourself to contain your burdensome self & everlasting melancholy.
“well im sure that i could be a movie star, if i could get out of this place.” - billy joel, piano man
“my dreams are nothing more than dreams”
i want freedom. absolute. i don’t want to remain constricted by those around me, pushing and grabbing at my limbs, trying to pry me away from my aspirations. claiming “for the greater good.”
i want to write, i want to dance. i want to be in films or plays. allow me to write those plays! direct them! i beg. allow me to express myself without repudiation. i hate the manner in which i’m prohibited from what i want. to follow my passion. all i’m seen as is delusional. lunatic, because i do not crave mundane. because i do not crave conformity. monotonous occupation with a monotonous spouse.
spare me, spare me! from mediocrity. a nine-to-five at an office, where all my days are filled with apathy and lack of soul. a repetition of now, when i’m given only restrictions as to what i cannot do; forced to write boring things and bury myself in empty numbers & words, be told my dreams are unrealistic
and they’re nothing more than that of just dreams.
“i need a father, i need a mother, i need some older, wiser being to cry to. i talk to god but the sky is empty” - sylvia plath
i didn’t understand sylvia when she wrote “tulips” but now that i’ve been given three bright fuschia & four purple flowers,
i have.
the flowers clash against the surrounding muted colors in my room.
they were given to me on my birthday and that’s all i can think of when i see them—
one more year added onto my name. my being.
and the perturbing reminder that im getting inevitably older and how much they stand out,
disturbing the peaceful atmosphere my bedroom is supposed to entail.
