Yesterday, I graduated from college after 6 grueling years. But the day represented more than a degree, a diploma, or ability to finally start my career. Yesterday was a symbol of perseverance, of somehow staying alive through some truly trying times. I don't talk about my mental health much anymore, but depression is something that I still face every single day. Many of my memories from the past couple of years exist under the shadow of my disorder. I spent too long hiding behind "I'm fine" while looking death in the eyes with countless suicide plans and near attempts. I was resigned to the fact that I would not live to see this day. "A semicolon is used when an author could have ended a sentence but chose not to." A semicolon means that my story is not over, that there is more to come, that I have something left to say. Thank you to every one of you that has stuck with me, supported me, held me, loved me, looked me in the eyes and told me I am worth something. You are the reason I am still here. Our little monster turned 2 years old today. Though it's been less than 6 months since we brought Anderson Cooper (formerly Zephyr) home from @phillypaws we can't imagine life without him--greeting us at the door every day when we get home purring and begging for scritches, sneaking food off our our plates and stuffing his face in our cups, stalking our feet and jumping out at us from doorways and corners, doing ninja rolls off the walls, sleeping curled up in our legs every night, and giving us endless kisses and nibbles.
