nuzi feels like a straight ship for gay people and it's not because of the dynamic being akin to ""girlboss x malewife"" I've never been a fan of these words or how they're used because they seem so watered down and only used as a "reversal" really but the way it IS made up of a neurotic tense weird cringe that's genuinely off-her-rocker girl and a boy who despite his programming to be violent and cruel wants, tries to be, IS in touch with his emotions and gentle and empathetic and uses his heart and brain to get out of tough situations is already a good start. Especially for characters based on 2000s tropes and stereotypes on a surface level they subvert a lot of things in a way that isn't too in your face it just feels natural. And even when they are stereotypical it makes sense, too, like uzi being a "tsundere" not just being a facet for eventual romance but also makes sense with her circumstances and trauma from neglect and isolation, uzi is great because of her imperfections along with her postivie traits, uzi is relatable and realistic and insecure and fun and everything we're barely allowed to see in female characters because that goes against what's considered "acceptable," same for N! They both develop together, they are established as friends who found and understood each other before anything else despite all the odds, but also already are interesting people as individuals! and of course none of this is really "queer" I'm not trying to say nuzi is queer coded but this is why I think its appealing, this is why it makes me happy, and this is just the first half I think the second part of it that makes it so appealing is how they're both initially outcasts in their respective communities but find solace together never "fix" each other never change each other only bounce off one another and make each other's individuality and traits stronger. Better. Together!!! While never losing who they both are at their cores only growing into it side by side. I repeat none of this is really "queer" on its own but I think you can definitely get that read from it especially if it hits home for you, and I think that's why I see so many queer ppl especially queer young children really love them
And the fact uzi is NEVER overshadowed by N and is cringe as fuck and he loves this and the show loves this and supports it and thinks it's awesome also means so much to me. Uzi is suchhhh an important character to exist I'll die on this hill
