when i first started playing kcd2 i knew there would eventually be a hans romance so the flirts i expected to be more flirty and direct, in other games you’re used to seeing a little teasing a little testing the waters, now imagine my surprise when the flirt options here are “i care about you” and “i’m more concerned about you” etc like this is sickening genuinely. flirting to these two is just expressing and receiving care and concern. what THE FUCK

lore accurate henry of skalitz isnt some cool op terrifying master of combat favored by god. lore accurate henry is god's most neglected soldier who's had to pick up the pieces by himself. lore accurate henry is a sad and scared and sopping wet and hungry young country bumpkin who gets put in Situations against his will every day but who fears NOT doing anything about it more than he fears the horrors themselves and has been pushed so far beyond the limits of what he once thought he was capable of that he barely even registers that he can die anymore so all he does is march forward with naught but a spinning moral compass and raging bisexuality to guide him

Played this quest again and I still think it's too short. But this time, I left on this beautiful foggy morning, and I got it. It's about how we can never go back. We can walk the same forest, sit under the same sun. We can wear the same clothing and wield the same weapons. We can hear each other's voice, see the same familiar face. But we can never, ever go back to the way it was. We've seen too much death and war and isolation. We've witnessed torture and injustice and humiliation. We can't remove those lenses from our eyes. They're part of us now. We can retrace our steps, capture glimpses of our past life. We can try a thousand times to do the same things we did when we were innocent, to feel the same simple pleasures, enjoy the same pursuits. And we will. And it will never be the same. We can never! go! back!
