I tried to isolate the vocals in this song… but I ended up with something WONDERFUL instead. It has a more haunting sound than the original. I enjoy the stripped instruments as well.

Kalafina 「into the world/Märchen」 - Quick review

「into the world」: There’s really nothing new I can say about it. It’s a gorgeous song. As is the case with all their Rekishi Hiwa Historia songs, it’s full of positive energy, it’s about a journey, it’s about discovering new things, it’s about finding the courage to move onwards. A truly motivational piece of music. I can’t wait to watch the whole PV. I saw a snippet of Keiko smiling, purest and most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen <3 <3 <3 PS: It’s kinda weird that we have heard the live version before the studio version.

「メルヒェン/Märchen」: This song is so awesome. There is a lot going on so it might take some getting used to for some people but I am a big fan of songs like that. I was already pretty smitten with the short TV version but the full version is so much better! Hikaru and Keiko SLAY, Wakana adds a little extra spice to the whole thing, instant love! The instrumental part leading to the bridge seems very fresh, I love how the flute is used here (it’s a bit long though but honestly, it sounds so nice, I don’t even mind). I REALLY adore the bridge, it’s so badass!! Definitely the best part of the song (at least in my opinion)! Then another instrumental part, this time focusing on Korenaga’s guitar. We get another verse similar to the first one and then towards the end there’s a little kajiurago part with Yuriko which is quite lovely too (with a bit of Keiko sprinkled on top). The ending of the song is a little too abrupt if you ask me but I guess that’s what was intended, I feel like YK likes to do these kinds of endings these days. Lastly, I caught a few short glimpses of the PV, OMG, it’s so freaking creepy! Reminds me a bit of the movie “Ring”. Lots of crazy cuts. And there are dolls, many dolls. Please give me the whole video now!!!!

「春を待つ/Haru wo Matsu」: WOW! If you liked Yasashii Uta I think you’ll like this one too, they have a very similar vibe in my opinion. Both very simple and sweet. DAT Keiko in the beginning, such a soothing voice! There’s actually no part where the girls are harmonizing, it’s just them singing their lines one after the other accompanied by Sakurada’s piano. All of them are doing a great job, their voices sound very pure and gentle, no noticeable straining in anyone’s voice. Wakana’s parts are by far my favourite, they almost brought tears to my eyes, she sings with so much emotion, true perfection!!! Also, the lyrics are really lovely. Be sure to check them out if you can!!! In their newest B-Pass interview the girls agree that Hikaru’s “tsubomi no mama” and Wakana’s final “mou sugu” are their favourite lines. Maybe one of these days I’ll find the time to translate that interview.

Overall, this is a very well-rounded single, I am so glad I pre-ordered it!!!
