Is Ty really that pretty? Hehe
People definitely comment that he's attractive in TLKOF!
Hi Cassie!
I was curious about why the stakes for necromancy seem so much higher for Ty and Livvy as compared to all the other examples we’ve seen in the series so far? Aside from Jace’s resurrection, there don’t seem to be any world-altering consequences for, say, Jesse’s resurrection or even Annabel’s. Lucie also faced pretty much no consequences for resurrecting Jesse, meanwhile Ty is met with shock and anger and other varying negative emotions from anyone who learns about his necromancy, particularly Ragnor and Magnus. Is there a particular reason, like the mode of necromancy in this case?
I’m looking forward to the release of tlkof!! 🥰🥰🥰
Jace, being literally resurrected by God, is definitely not a situation where anyone would call it "necromancy." :)
Jesse wasn't really dead, and Lucie used her own power, not demonic/evil magic, so I wouldn't call that necromancy either; therefore it doesn't carry the negative repercussions necromancy does. It's a unique unrepeatable situation.
Malcolm was despised by everyone for the necromancy he performed, and also Annabel murdered him for doing it so I'd say those are bad consequences! We also don't ever see how it would have gone for him had Annabel and Malcolm remained alive for many more years but it would only have grown more destructive.
The kind of necromancy Ty did is going to have very bad results, not just for the world but for him. Ragnor and Magnus are correct to be angry/upset because Ty has put himself directly at terrible risk, it's not just a moral question — it's something that could kill people, including him. We are years along in the results of the necromancy in TLKOF so we'll see that firsthand.
I would say the only examples of the kind of necromancy Ty did, that we have seen at all, are just him and Livvy and Malcolm and Annabelle. And only in Ty and Livvy's case will we ever see what it looks like years down the line.
i'm sorry i never did your tag game. i love you

She was the first person he told he and Valentine were going to be parabatai. They were living parallel lives. He couldn't remember meeting her cuz they've been each other's everything since birth. He was falling further and further but also slipping farther and farther away from her. So she just smiled and congratulated him, telling him most of her secret thoughts. I'm gonna be sick.
I IMAGINE TELLING YOU STORIES. MY STORY, AND THE STORY OF OUR LIFE TOGETHER. I'D LIKE TO THINK OUR FRIENDSHIP IS MORE THAN A HALF-TRUTH, BUT IT'S NEVER BEEN A WHOLE ONE.
I'VE PROMISED MYSELF: WHEN YOU WAKE UP, I'LL TELL YOU EVERYTHING. WHEN YOU RETURN TO ME, I'LL FINALLY SHOW MYSELF TO YOU, AND RISK CONSEQUENCES. WHEN, WHEN, WHEN—I STILL BELIEVE IN WHEN, NOT IF.
Every paragraph is like a punch to the gut dear lord
Obsessed with Luke drawing parallels between Valentine's abuse and Jocelyn's overprotective parenthood right out the gate ohhh Jocelyn Fairchild they could never make me hate you.
VALENTINE LIED FOR POWER. YOU LIED FOR CLARY. I LIED FOR YOU. NOW I CAN'T HELP PEELING INTO MY OWN NEGATIVE SPACES. AND HIDING THERE: THE TRUTH. I WANTED SILENCE TOO.
and Why pray tell, does Julian have a lighter at all much less an empty one? because he smokes cigarettes because he is grunge.
So far I'm really enjoying the Mark and Ty connection. It's clear in COHF that even before Mark was taken he was closer to Ty than any of his other siblings, but I like how LM is creating parallels between Ty's autistic traits and Mark's faerie traits to show why they understand each other so well. It highlights that Ty doesn't socialize "wrong," and that there are in fact places and people who play by a lot of the same social rules that he does (for instance, extreme literalism and complexity in casual speech). While Ty and Mark obviously are not the same, I think it's significant that since they're both used to being misunderstood they make more of an effort to understand each other. Ty is always loved by his siblings, but he still constantly has to explain himself to everyone other than Livvy. Mark seems to be one of the only people with whom he communicates easily, so of course he values that connection.
I also find it interesting that Julian is telling Mark to act "normal" in this scene, because he's consistently very clear that he doesn't want anybody implying that Ty isn't normal. I think that's probably because Julian sees Ty's autistic behavior as normal for Ty, while he still thinks that Mark's faerie behavior is weird and wrong for Mark. This is another example of how the Cold Peace has completely isolated an entire culture, since we see in COB that Jace is comfortable conversing with faeries. Shadowhunters used to recognize faerie speak as almost a sort of dialect that they would learn in order to clearly communicate, but now young Shadowhunters like Julian just hear it as weird. There's no interest in understanding this form of speech because it's seen as inherently violent and unnatural, which just adds to Mark's lack of belonging.
Also also, I really like that Ty is stepping in to defend Mark in this scene. So far we've seen a lot of Mark looking out for Ty (before, during, and after his time with the Hunt), but in this case it's clear that the protectiveness goes both ways. Ty is the younger brother, but he's still got autonomy and he still knows how to advocate for the people he cares about. It's probably extra hurtful for him to hear Julian talking like this, since he expects Julian to be the one protecting him from people who think he's weird, so I like that he's willing to stand up to his older brother/parental figure to defend Mark and also (in a way) to defend himself.
Anyways, what I'm saying is that I hope we get Mark and Ty brotherly moments in TWP. I think Mark's mixture of chaotic decision making and absolute love for Ty will give him an interesting perspective on whatever Ty ends up doing.
Right before and right after this there are paragraphs upon paragraphs of Julian marveling at Ty's unique perspective on the world, but as soon as Mark acts slightly unusual he's fighting the instinct to correct him. It really feels like Mark's faerie habits are personally offensive to Julian, because they're proof that he isn't the perfect older brother that has existed in Julian's mind for five years as both a victim who needs to be saved and a hero who will bring the family back to normal. Mark is literally just playing video games and being friendly, but it's offensive to Julian because it's proof that "normal" has become something fundamentally different from what he remembers of his childhood.
Cassandra Clare on Clary's POV in TLKoF: And then there's also just more dramatic storyline for some of the specific characters like Clary who, you know, returns in this book and she actually has her own viewpoint and she has her own story going on and kind of in the background. And so we really, I really wanted to take us out in the way that we came in.
audience who is hyperfixated on the series vs. creator who cant remember shit
Jsjsjsjs once in a while I remember the astronomical collapse of non-spanish speakers when I said smth along the lines of "bet y'all think Jaime is pronounced like Jaime Lannister" and burst out laughing.
i love how the whole concept of simon lewis’ character is put him in a situation
