Granted the UK is set for three straight kings, what happens if/when Charles has a first born daughter? Titles currently come from the male line. So then would there be a possibility that women can hold titles in their own right ie a Princess of Wales? That would take Parliament action

Then we have current rules, I can see the Wessex children being included not because of a concern they could want to use their hrhs but to make everything equal, but I don't see Charles outright stripping people of prince/ss.. now hrhs? Yes.

Btw this would affect the future ie Charlotte's and Louis' future kids would also not be entitled to hrhs

I think it’s interesting because without all the issues re: H&M leaving this would be a perfect time to do it. To say that from now on, children of the monarch get titles but it ends there. No titles for any grandchildren of the monarch except those of the heir apparent. (If they really want to postpone the rest of the issues a female heir apparent would cause)

Of course now, because of everything else, it’ll be a Thing…

They’ve been able to avoid this for a long time as there was no Queen consort to potentially wear the crown it’s set in, but just getting in here to say GIVE THE KOH-I-NOOR BACK TO INDIA.

If they have a crown for the new Queen (which isn’t a given?) I can see Charles repurposing the Queen Mother’s since they were so close.

But the Koh-I-Noor needs to be returned. There’s no reason or argument strong enough for it to be kept. It’s a gesture that is 1000% necessary.

in regards to your last ask about the vigil of the princes how long do they stand? Bc I was thinking the kids will do it first then the grandsons but James is still young so idek about that tbh :/

I don’t think it’s that long of a vigil.  It’s not an all-night thing, from what I recall.  A quick look at Wikipedia suggests that it’s only 20 minutes, but that doesn’t seem right either, so I’m going to open the floor to anyone who knows better.

I’ve just been told that apparently the plan is to have the four children start the vigil, to be relieved by four grandchildren twice - so like three mini-vigils, first the four kids, then the eight grandkids split into two groups of four.  James is still very young, yes, and they’ll of course only ask him if he’s comfortable.  I don’t know anything about Edward, Sophie, or their parenting styles, but I honestly don’t see 7 out of 8 grandkids standing vigil while James stays out.  Assuming he’s a little bit older than he is now (13) when the time comes, I just don’t see them filling that spot with Sarah Chatto or David Linley instead.  I really do think he’ll be there - with support from his parents, Louise, and the rest of his cousins and aunts and uncles, of course.  But like I said, that’s my opinion.

I think - and I bow to the knowledge and experience of others - it’s only 15-20 minutes but it’s in shifts? And like you said, Philip wants his children and grandchildren if they’re willing - but with Harry abroad and Andrew being Andrew and James and Louis being so young, they might be able to cut a solid 4 out (assuming the vigil takes place before Harry can get back)

Yeah, I can definitely see that.  I don’t see Harry hesitating to get on a plane though and I definitely can see them waiting - for both HM and Philip, if he ends up getting the full treatment - for him to arrive to start the official stuff.  It’s not like he (and Meghan and Archie) can’t get on a private jet within 2 hours of getting a phone call, you know?  I also really don’t see them leaving Andrew out of it - it’s a funeral, not an engagement, and I just think they’ll push the “regardless of what he did, he’s still their son” narrative.  I can see Louise and James skipping together or joining together - I don’t think they’ll have one stand vigil without the other.

Oh I definitely see Harry heading over, but if Philip dies around Meghan’s due date or something, I can see him coming a bit later. For the Queen, Andrew will 100% be involved but Philip and Andrew don’t seem to actually get on so I can see him maybe not doing anything public for Philip. He’d obviously go to the actual funeral and stuff

Also a practical thing to consider now is quarantine and isolation. Not sure what the current requirement is from the US but I can’t see it playing well if that isn’t followed when Harry comes home.

This morning I felt so paralysed by fear I couldn’t get out of bed for over an hour. The longer I lay there the more panicked I was because I’d be late for work. I’ve had CBT for my anxiety. I’m on medication. I’m open about it & all of this helps - to a point. It’s still going to knock me on my back like this & the ‘if you talk about it everything will be better!’ narrative doesn’t help. And I have one of the more acceptable disorders. Fully agree with all you’ve said about Harry’s comment.

Hey my dear :) Sorry it has taken me a ridiculously long time to answer this, I found it again in my drafts! I don’t even remember which of Harry’s stupid comments on mental health this was about! I think even though it’s a bit old it still applies because the prevailing narrative from any of the BRF talking about mental health is “open up, talk about it, you should talk about it, don’t be afraid to talk about it, did I mention talking?” And yeah, that is important. And I understood framing the first year of Heads Together around it. But you can’t just say “talk about it” and then sit back and think that’s ok. The difficulty is what happens when someone does talk. You have the fact that not everyone knows how to listen and respond to hearing about someone’s mental illness. You have the fact that waiting lists for treatment are incredibly long. And then there’s the considerable number of people who reach out to the right services and either don’t get the help they need or get the wrong kind of help, or in some cases are met with retraumatising responses and discrimination from the staff who are meant to help them. This is why I do like things like Shout or the Mentally Healthy Schools website because they are practical things that can help to fill some of the gaps that they need to fill, but they have a tendency to stray into just focusing on OPEN UP OPEN UP OPEN UP and that doesn’t always translate to anything useful for the person struggling. I hope you’re doing ok now and that coronavirus hasn’t been too much of a hit for you.

People on Tumblr and Twitter are saying Meghan changed her teeth. Why do they care? It's her mouth. I actually got braces as an adult to help alleviate severe tension headaches. People called me vain for doing something to improve my health. (I got relief within a week. Long before my time with braces was even over.) Makes me so irritated when people make assumptions about why or even if people do things. It's none of anyone's business.

Additionally, a coworker of mine needed braces after she had kids because get this - YOUR TEETH CAN SOMETIMES MOVE because of pregnancy. I think it’s to do with gums? 

But anyway, file this with ‘your feet can permanently change size’ in the list of unexpectedly fucked up things pregnancy does to your body...

So I appointed myself a member of the Morale & Events Committee at work (read: the Party Planning Committee, I'm basically Phyllis), but I'm better than everyone else at it because I actually do this. So for every event I've made centerpieces for the tables in the break room, and I call it "infiltrating the system" to sound cooler than I am. For our Thanksgiving event, I attached "fun" (i.e. super depressing) facts about Native Americans to each centerpiece. For our Mardi Gras party last month, I attached Black History Month facts. (And when I'm in charge, I'm going to make the February event a Black History Month event cuz we live in New Orleans and you can get your Mardi Gras elsewhere thank you VERY much.) So for our March event, it's St. Patrick's Day themed, but I can't decide if I should infiltrate the system with women (for WE Day) or heroes of Northern Ireland. Either way, I cannot overstate how much pleasure this small and mostly unnoticed act of rebellion brings me every month.

I vote for Irish women! There were loads of them involved in the 1916 rising and the war of independence. Look up Cumann an mBan. The first female MP elected to Westminster was not facist Nancy Astor, it was socialist republican Constance Markievicz and she was AWESOME. She didn’t take her seat because they formed their own parliament in Ireland. She was also a member of Cumann na mBan, and was a sniper. Love her.

And you can go more modern too - so many amazing women were involved in the recent marriage & eighth amendment referenda.

ALSO Anne Bonney, Grace O’Malley and other awesome pirates were Irish.

On average the Republic of Ireland gets about one visit a year and Northern Ireland receives multiple visits as is the case with all of the four nations :)
