Deity of the Week- Artemis

~Artemis is my choice for Deity of the Week because sheās the goddess responsible for bringing me to Hellenic Polytheism and my Gods. Sheās also one Goddess in particular that I do special devotional things for. There may be some UPG in this, but it will be indicated as such!~
Artemis is the daughter of Zeus, and sister to her twin Apollon. She is the first born of the two, and immediately after her birth she assisted her mother in delivering her brother. She is also a virgin goddess, having given birth to no one. It is also thought be the other gods that her arrows are so sure and merciless that she sometimes called upon by them to act as a sort of divine assassin.
Artemis is a goddess of many things. Most of the first things people think when they hear her name is goddess of the Hunt. While this is true, it is not her only association. More of her associations are:
And thatās just to name a few! Sheās a very multifaceted Goddess. She also has some association with the moon.
Any wood that is suitable to make a bow from, as well as arrows
Some Gods are the patrons or Patronesses of specific jobs and job fields, a few for Artemis could be
ASPCA/Animal shelter worker
Foresty colors in general
Frankincense(general, good for all the Theoi just about)
Obsidian(upg/itās often used to make arrow heads)
The most obvious choice here is the take up hunting to honor the goddess of the hunt. Dedicate your kills to her, and use as much of the animal as you can. I.E. offer the pelt to her, the bones, eat the meat, offer the insides, etc. Other devotional acts-
Volunteering at an animal shelter
Caring for your local wild life
Volunteering at a community center for children
Support the creation of woman-only spaces
Help/assist pregnant women or new mothers
Support athletic teams for girls and young women
Volunteer at a nature preserve
An alternative to real life hunting would be to play some virtual hunting/fishing games. While weāre at it, wilderness/survival games would be a great modern devotional act as well! Minecraft anyone? You can also set up devotional e-shrines through blog websites such as here on tumblr.
