Golden retrievers are smart, loyal dogs that are ideal family companions. With their gentle nature, shining coats, and charming smiles, they are considered one of the most popular breeds in America.
Not everyone can say theyâve been to the Big Apple, but  [ CHRISTOPHER âKITâ XIAO ], a [ 33 ] year-old [ CIS MALE ] has lived in [ RIDGEWOOD, QUEENS ] for [ 5 YEARS ]. This is the city of dreams and [ HE ] knows it, because they came to NYC to be a [ SOCIAL MEDIA STAR ]. Well, that and as an [ YOUNGEST CHILD ] to [ CLAIRE XIAO ]. Living in the city means they meet all kinds of people, but everyone always seems to think they look like [ HENRY GOLDING ]. They even got away with free cab fare once because of it!
hello friends itâs your girl em again, this time with an idiot man instead of an idiot lady!!! lets go!
born in malaysia and raised in las vegas, kit is the child of two ruthless gang members, who brought crime and chaos to every city theyâve settled in. his father was killed by a rival gang 8 years ago, and his mother claire took over the jade dragons, turning it into the deadliest gang the cityâs ever seen
...all the while, kit is oblivious to most of this.
heâs a golden child, with the personality of a golden retriever. heâs always been sweet and polite, even when his parents and siblings tried to teach him otherwise.Â
he knows bits and pieces of the tough choices and sacrifices his parents had to make, and he respects and honors them. but mostly, he keeps out of it. he doesnât want to know too much. itâs too dark for him, and heâs like a little flower. he needs light to live.
in recent years, heâs become famous on instagram and tiktok, where he documents his travels around the world (and his abs.. letâs be real, a lot of the followers are not there to see thailand)
overall, heâs sweet and cute and dumb and silly and has only good things to say about his mother and sisters. theyâre his whole world and he thinks theyâre perfect.
some wanted connections:
besties! (unlimited amount, kit has endless love to give)
lovers and flings and exes (his sexualityâs pretty fluid)
someone who gets close to him just to get access to his family
Akio knew what he looked like. He knew that if he held his head up at a certain angle and rolled his shoulders back, he could command a room or at least look like he was above it. He was far from the shy, bullied kid from his adolescence, carving out a confidence built on faking it until he felt it, and now he felt it. Pride had helped him feel it even further.
So why was it that he still couldnât bring himself to talk to the cute guy he often saw at the coffee shop?
He felt like today would be no different, as he shot the guy a quick polite smile as they waited in line for their usuals. God, he was cute. Sometimes, Akio entertained a stray fantasy of just grabbing his cup before him and scribbling his number on it, just to see what would happen. But that was a fantasy. Because this guy turned him back into that shy kid from years ago, and Akio couldnât work with that.
With a sigh, he reached his hand out to grab his own cup, not realizing the stranger was doing the exact thing, causing a complete collision with hands, coffee, and flimsy cups that exploded over both of them. âShit!â Akio muttered. âIâm so sorry.â
.
Every single fucking day, Kitâs stomach twisted itself into knots at this goddamn coffee shop, and every single day he returned to torture himself further. It was a fun little game he was playing with himself, to see how much polite-smiling he could endure before he finally found the courage to talk to the beautiful boy he always saw here.Â
This had happened so many days in a row that at this point it felt like it was too late to say anything. Like if this man wanted to talk to Kit, he would have by now. Although, the reverse could also be said, and that definitely wasnât true. He stewed on it a little longer as he stared at his phone, pretending to text, and then finally the barista placed his coffee on the counter.
It was as though the hand of some exasperated god had pushed the two men together, tired of their bullshit, and in the blink of an eye, they were covered in coffee, in a moment of instant serendipitous chaos. âShit!â Kit said, almost exactly in unison with the man heâd knocked his coffee into. He grabbed about a trillion paper napkins from the holder on the counter and started dabbing at the manâs shirt, before he realized that was probably weird.
âFucking hell, Iâm so sorry... I can buy you a new coffee. And a new shirt... if youâd like.â
What's the last, really big lie that could get you into life changing trouble that you told?
"I don't think I've ever told a lie that big, that sounds really scary."
"Oh, one time in high school, my parents wanted me break up with my girlfriend. I told them I did, but... I didn't. She was awesome, I didnât get it. We broke up eventually, but I think that's the only time I've ever straight up defied my mom."
"Well, I know I'm not going to be on TikTok forever, so I have been looking into what I actually want to do with my life. Maybe I'm a bit old to be just figuring that out now, but what do I have, if not time? I just want to be happy, and make friends, and treat people well, and take care of my animals. Everything else will fall into place when it's supposed to."
What is one thing you've never done but always wanted to?
"This might be weird but... I never went to college. I don't even know what I would study, it's just something I feel like I missed out on. Not even the parties or anything; I've been to enough parties in my life, but... I don't know. It's dumb."
Dark hues eyed her son for a moment, wondering whether or not she should have a word to him about the flowers, but his heart was in the right place, and how could she ever be mad at a boy with such a sweet face? âOh, itâs alright, my beloved.â Waving a hand in dismissal, she took the flowers from him. They really were beautiful. Claire only had the most magnificent flowers blooming in her garden. âIf it was your sisters on the other handâŠâ She added, rolling her eyes in a subtly playful manner before placing her bouquet on a nearby table.
âNo, no help needed. Iâm done, actually. But help me take these cuttings to the compost.â She replied, picking up a pile of weeds in her gloved hands, nodding towards the second pile for Kit to take care of. âAfter this, come inside, Iâll get you some iced tea. Your sister dropped by some cookies earlier that I have yet to try. Iâd say itâs about time we have some afternoon tea together. I always love seeing my boy.â
As she walked towards the back of the garden, she lifted the lid of the compost garbage bin, tossing the discarded weeds in without a second thought. Then she turned to her son again, brushing off her gloves before peeling them off her hands. âHow are you though, darling? Up to anything exciting recently?â
.
âYes, mama,â Kit smiled, picking up the weeds - either unaware or unconcerned that he was getting dirt on his designer clothes. He would do anything for his mother - anything she asked, anyway. She admittedly didnât ask much of him, and he was vaguely aware that he was alone in that amongst his siblings, but he didnât question it too much. He knew enough about her work to know he wouldnât like it, so he was happy to help with yard work if thatâs what she needed from him.
âWait, which sister? I donât know if I trust cookies from Lily,â he joked, with a cheeky grin, as he tossed his share of the weeds into the bin. He beamed at his mother; marveling at how she could make gardening gloves look like opera gloves. She was impossibly elegant, and commanded a room, and he understood how so many people were threatened by her - even as she beamed and called him darling and beloved. âIâm great, mama. Iâve got a trip to South Korea in a few weeks, and some places in South America in the fall. What about you? Everything good? Youâre feeling okay?â
Although today was her day off, CJ was essentially always on-call when it came to Elliott. Sometimes there were cases that required immediate attention and therefore her time and presence came along with the territory. âMaking me do? Donât get it twisted babe, I help with an open heart. Although youâre not wrong. Elliott canât tie his shoes. Which means by default he canât make me do anything.â
It had been a tried and true relationship she built with the man over the last two years and as annoying as he was, there was no denying his brilliance in the court room. It was probably one of few reasons she still stuck around. âItâs just about a case, so nothing major. I do tell him if itâs a true emergency to dial 911 and leave me alone,â she chuckled as she quickly shot him a text back. The world wasnât going to burn down today. âWhatâs up with you two anyways?âÂ
.
âYouâre too good for him,â Kit smirked, although he strongly believed she was too good for anybody. He believed people like CJ should do what he did, which was work for themselves, and answer to nobody (except companies wanting brand deals and legions of followers always demanding something from him). But that was easier said than done; not everyone had an exorbitantly wealthy family to catch them if they failed.
His eyes widened slightly at her question, but he tried to hide that with an exaggerated scoff. âWhat? ...Nothing. Heâs just annoying... heâs always been annoying. He talks to me like Iâm stupid, even though heâs the one using words with six syllables in every other sentence. I donât know how you deal with him every day.â
âWhat is he making you do now?â Kit whined, somehow managing to slump down even though he was already lying in the grass. Theyâd been having such a good time, finding shapes in the clouds and ignoring being adults, until the man CJ babysat worked for started texting and calling again. âDoes he need you to tie his shoes for him?â
It was an ironic thing for Kit to say, because he also would probably struggle like a lonely toddler without CJ - but he didnât know that.
âITâS PRIDE, BABY!â he bellowed in response, barely hanging onto the otherâs words because he was so drunk heâd already spilled edible glitter all over himself, lost his phone, and couldnât remember how he got on this bus. One minute he was talking to Ren about letting Max live his best life, and the next he was throwing an arm around this strangerâs shoulders, and swaying into the hype of dance, as he bellowed out lyrics. âWe came to party rock, everybody itâs on!â Then, in the natural ebb and flow of the party, as the song transitioned into its chorus and the entire bus fell in unison, yelling out the âshots!â together, he roped the stranger into a jump on the beat, bellowing out into the sea of voices. Before suddenly, mid-lyric, he felt the freedom of the party down into the very fibers of his existence, and exclaimed, grin overtaking features, âHEY!â There was a moment of quiet hesitation before he said it, but once the words passed the threshold of his lips like a sudden but important confession to this stranger, the freedom flooded in. âIâm gay! I never told anybody that! Wellâhalf gay. Kind of. I think itâs called pansexual.â And then, as if he hadnât just spilled his biggest secret to someone he met three seconds ago, he cheered out into the consuming loudness, and melded baritone voice into it.
.
The crowd of passengers trying their hardest to make their voices sound like Lil Jonâs was filling Kitâs ears with the same kind of staticky buzz he felt in his entire body. A single disembodied hand appeared out of the neon abyss, holding a plastic shot glass of something unnaturally pink, and Kit unquestioningly took it, and downed it. The song, after all, had told him to.
He took a deep breath, about to continue the shouting of SHOTS, but there was a sudden seriousness to the man heâd been dancing with. He mirrored the seriousness - which, in his drunken state, involved placing a hand on either side of the manâs cheeks to show he was listening intently. Kitâs characteristic goofy smile returned slowly, but brighter than ever before, when he heard the strangerâs words. Feeling genuinely honored to have been part of this moment, he just beamed for a second, and then spoke words in his own personal brand of philosophic reverence:Â
âBitch... same.â
He laughed, the genuine joy and pride making both men shine like disco balls as they cheered and danced and sang. The tutu slipped from Kitâs hips a little, and he got an idea; taking it off and handing it to his new pansexual friend. âHere. I think youâve earned this.â
