A post showing the tiny hints I gave before the reveal because I had a lot of fun with it :). Most of these are sooooo small and insignificant but it sparked joy anyway.
I was so happy that people were catching the title logo so early on.
The Title "Here There Be Turtles" is a reference to the myth that maps used to have "here there be dragons (or monsters)" written over unmapped sections of ocean. I wanted people to be making that connection to dragons but I also wanted to direct the attention back to "Here There Be Dragon Turtles"
Also the Pinned post states "Heads up! This comic takes place after the series/movies, there will be spoilers!" the wording is me being a bit cheeky. Rise only has 1 movie ✨

The little shell dividers sometimes change at the bottom of the posts!The most notable is found in the pinned post and on the bottom of the Chapter 3 Cover B post. Speaking of that cover, it also has some of the most blatant references to 2003 as dragons.
I can't for the life of me find the comment or tag where someone realized the 2003 turtles show up in Chapter 03 but yeah ∠( ᐛ 」∠)＿

There aren't many other than the whole "Dragon" thing, but I'll point them out (excluding the last 5 pages of chapter 3) XD
The main one is all the way back in Chapter 1. For those who haven't seen 2003, every episode starts with a short opening narrated by one of the characters before the theme song plays. I didn't really expect anyone to know it was a direct reference-- character thought narrations are pretty standard for comics and 03 is referencing comics by doing it-- but April got herself a 5 page 2003 style cold open!
And the end of Chapter 1
Yeah not commenting on or confirming anything about these guys yet, but the silhouettes are refs too. You are all so clever btw (｡•̀ᴗ-)✧
A little more on the subtle side, but yes!!!!! Originally there was going to be a faded text balloon that said "hang on kid" or something to that effect, but it didn't feel fit quite right.
Outside of the Comic
YESS!! Thats this AU's 03 Mikey design!! I've also drawn and posted other art of the 03 turtles with my Rise crossover design 👀 Basically if you see that head shape its art from the HTB zone lol. That specific head shape went through many revisions until it fit with the Rise style while still being recognizably 2003 orz.
And this last one isn't really related but if you know me then this comic turning out as a crossover probably wasn't that big of a surprise...
