He put his head in his hands and just shook it. These arguments just got more heated everyday. He thought getting this job with Rossiu, after building the city, would make them closer. It seemed to only be tearing them further and further apart. Was Simon making all the wrong choices here? Had his brother picked a bad person to lead humanity and Team Dai Gurren? All this anxiety was building inside and his mind kept going to darker places after their exchange of words.
That is…until…he heard a familiar voice.
As soon he looked up to see Kiyal on the other side of the door frame, he tried to play it cool and compose himself. The male propped up his feet on his desk and put his arms behind his head. “What? Rossiu? He is just upset getting upset with me over some trivial stuff, ya know political stuff.” He wasn’t buying his vague explanation and attempt at feeling well. However, he didn’t wanna bother Kiyal too much with his issues. Besides, she always makes him feel better, Kiyal just brought a certain vibe and energy to the room he couldn’t quite explain. “Though, I’m sure that’s not why you’re here! Come on, while I’m on break anyways! Sit down, and relax with me. I could use a more calm conversation.” He laughed trying to lighten the mood, inviting her in to talk about anything she wanted to. Simon desperately wanted to switch topics, no matter how awkward it seemed.
The closeness she and Simon had developed over the years helped in a number of ways. She knew him better than most people- plenty well enough to tell when he was putting on a front, hiding his troubles with a lighthearted attitude and leaving his misgivings to gather dust on the wayside. He never wanted to burden anyone with his emotions, but she'd always talk some sense back into him with that feisty attitude she was so quick to brandish. Perhaps it was a bit too close to how...how Kamina did things, but something told her he appreciated the spirit she brought in that way.
Of course, that same something told her this wasn't the time for that. Meeting his feigned enthusiasm with a smile that flickered across her face before the frown returned, she walked into the office, letting the door close behind her as she took a seat. She took a deep breath, ensuring she would be calm and honest enough to get through that façade. "I need to know you'll be okay, Simon," she told him, hand sliding across the desk as though she were reaching out to him. "That you won't let Rossiu get to you! You know I won't let you leave me out in the cold without SOME assurance that you're holding together."
