“To be lonely is, by design, to be aware of an element that you think you’re missing.”
Loneliness brings a subtle cruelty, a yearning that never truly ends. These are two sides of a coin that constantly spin, never slowing down or landing on a specific side.
To be lonely is to yearn, however, to yearn does not necessarily mean to be lonely.
One may be lonely and yearn for friends, comfort, love, or simply purpose.
And one might yearn for friends, comfort, love, and purpose without being lonely.
Gojo Satoru wasn’t a coin constantly spinning in a loop, but rather a six-sided dice constantly in rotation. Loneliness was a default state for him, so, as such was yearning.
However a being so complex could never be that simply described.
One may argue that loneliness is a blessing, as is Satoru. Blessed to be so strong, to hold such an inhuman power and ability to change one’s fate.
Others may argue and say Satoru is cursed, cursed to hold up the world in his hands, that such deep power comes hand in hand with a deep burden.
And to this I say that neither are true or false, blessings are themselves a curse, and power is also a downfall. Satoru Gojo finds himself at the precipice of ruin and gain.
And while evil cannot exist without goodness, vice versa, blessing cannot exist without curse, and so someone as strong and powerful as Gojo cannot exist without burden.
That burden therefore is loneliness.
It is the sad reality that comes with the creation of life.
such a life that belongs to one Satoru Gojo, and maybe that itself is a bittersweet yearning of its own.
So to end my statement, I revisit what I had previously claimed. Loneliness, by design, can only exist with yearning, however yearning does not have to exist only within loneliness.
