How do you choose your colour scheme/palette? I can't seem to be able to pick a realistic colour for the skin, I have to use colour picker on a reference picture :/ but then it feels like I'm not actually painting. I want to be able to not have to rely on my reference picture so much :/
I don’t have a system for that it’s already a habit so I’m not sure how to explain it.. I guess you could find yourself some pictures and try to sort out their skin palletes with the colour picker so you see where the colours lie on the colour wheel/ colour square thing, it helps to learn natural combinations. Here’s my most used combination (apparently) :
Im always so curious how artists make the skin look so alive (i guess) on the drawings and how to achieve that look?? I truly fancy that look and ughhh i just love great art in general.. :(( but yeah i just? Kind of want to know the secret to it lmao
i don’t think there’s like.. a secret to it hhah but uhm well.. for me the most important thing to make the skin look “alive” is 1. a diverse colour palette (yellows, reds, blues etc) and 2. thats just a personal preference.. but i never perfectly blend the brush streaks on the skin parts.. you get what i mean? i make it look a little rougher because if it’s perfectly blended it looks too “doll like”here’s some example close ups vv
Here’s my “tutorial” on how I draw skin for the anon
