I had a dream that someone wanted to eat my jar of black clay slip because they thought it was ice cream. which I guess is reasonable? I keep it in an ex-gelato jar and slip does kind of look delicious
I told him it was basically a jar of wet clay and he said “that doesn’t bother me!” and then he got upset when I told him he couldn’t eat it anyway
Well now I have to live with the new and uncomfortable thought that yes, slip does look like it'd be good, especially if presented in one of those talenti containers.
Kyle Gordon's back
Was lucky today being able to watch a dipper dip for quite a while. Such a cute bird.
Hm, I think you should read my gothic horror comic about a knight with an ulterior motive to pursue his obsession while the world succumbs to a moon that slowly decays its prey . it's full of action, kind of horny, and there's 4 chapters out now! lunarblight.com/comic/chapter-1-convocation
up to 19k words woah! Was not able to keep up the crazy pace of the fist week, but still making good progress. I do think the 30k is feeling achievable now, but don't actually know if it will wrap up by then! But re-reading the first two chapters and they are so rough. I still like the idea behind them but reading them is a bit painful. Later chapters thankfully left the choppy-as-hell phase behind.

Good taste! Only a couple Limited Edition Prints are still available of ‘em, each one hand-signed and numbered, while supplies last - only in my shop. 🤘
I'm sorry, is this... Is this implying there's no DYE in that rug? All raw wool in its natural colours? She fucking bred the sheep to get the colours she wanted over the course of ten years!? Holy shit.
Edit: this has gotten a huge amount of traction (fibrearts tumblr is a, uh, tight-knit community it seems!) so I am adding this note to state that I checked Lola Cody's website and can confirm: There is no dye in her work. She uses exclusively hand-spun Churro wool sheared from her home-raised sheep flock. It's all natural colours!
The worlds hungriest animal
its ok theyre Gods lil helpers
And boy are they clumsy
Hi, these bees are babies! They’re not clumsy at all, this is what is called orientation flights. After birth and before beginning their careers as foragers (as all Honey bees cycle through all the jobs in the Hive throughout their lifespan), Honey bees take short flights back and forth, to and from the Hive, to orient themselves with their wings and their home so they can learn its location and how to get back home after foraging! Everyone has to learn, these are just smol little baby turkeys. Bees use the angle of the sun for location so adults have a better and more direct sense of location than any human
IM SO PLEASED TO LEARN THIS!!!
They are just!!! Student drivers!!! 😭

This is the most beautiful scientific diagram I've ever seen.
Also a great example of why pink is a tint of red, but also a completely different color. Erbium? Neodymium? So beautiful.
FYI Neodymium glass (aka Alexandrite glass to collectors) appears different colors under different lights:
This image is from a great writeup of why that happens on the Jennii Neutron blog.
Oh and of course Uranium, Selenium, Manganese, and Cadmium all fluoresce under black light.
sorry i need everyone to look at my new aquarium soap fandragon right now thanks
