Final Showcase Animal Story
Our resident writing student and Content Lead, Jake, has been working on creating an example story for the project. The story Jake has written focuses on the real-life experience of Pumpkin the Koala, who was rescued by RSPCA. The story follows Pumpkins journey from rescue to recovery, with accompanying pictures. This story will be featured in our final showcase and will be linked to the QR code used in our showcase. The story is currently on the website wire-frame which Jake, as the Technology Lead, has put together. The next step will be for Natalie, our Design Lead, to finalise the design of the website and the story layout.
Week 12 recap - This week we’ve been working towards finalising our prototypes for the showcase. Natalie has been finishing up the final QR code plaque to be displayed with the sculptures, as well as updating the app screen designs in preparation to move them onto a working app wireframe. Jake has also finalised the prototype animal story which will be linked to the QR code. In the next two weeks we will be finalising all of our prototypes, preparing our showcase, and compiling all of our research for our pitch deck. We are aiming to have a larger prototype of the sculpture ready for the final showcase, as well as a functional app and website prototype. Busy but exciting weeks ahead!
Initial Sculpture Prototype
As we have been working through prototyping over the past few weeks, our Marketing and Advertising Lead, Danni, has taken up the job of creating prototypes for the sculptures. Our initial sculpture, dubbed Kevin the Koala, is a 3D printed geometric Koala. Kevin is roughly 10cm tall and is a small scale prototype that demonstrates the design we envision for the larger sculptures that would be used for the project.
In the weeks to come, Danni will be working on creating other small scale sculpture prototypes in the same geometric design.
App Design Evolution
Our Design Lead, Natalie, has been reworking some of the original designs from the mid fidelity app screen prototypes to make them better reflect the project and elevate the quality of the app prototype. The following examples are the app loading screens.

Back again with the week 11 recap! This week we’re kicking things into high gear as we start working on our mid-high fidelity prototypes. Natalie has begun tweaking and reworking the design and visuals for the app, while Danni has found some geometric 3D print designs for sculptures (see Kevin the Koala in the video - pictures to be uploaded soon!) and Jake is busy finishing off the wireframes for the app and websites. As the project manager, I have taken this week to start creating a project to-do list, splitting up the tasks with the group and making an action plan for the next few weeks. In the coming weeks we will be having more group meetings, starting to look into hammering out the finer details of the project, including the budget, risks, and final sculpture materials and design. Looking forward to providing more updates in the week to come! - Angie
It’s time for the week 10 recap! This week we presented our project to our workshop and received feedback from our tutor and peers. We were lucky enough to gain many new resources and potential avenues to explore from this feedback. We also updated our project timeline and we’re now moving into creating physical prototypes and preparing for the final showcase. We will have more group meetings later this week to set tasks for everyone in the group and finalise our milestone 4 document for submission.
Back again with the week 9 recap! This week there was no workshop so we used the time to have a group meeting and smash out some prototypes for the provocateur meeting and the milestone 4 document. We will be using the mid-sem break to each complete some research tasks and having another meeting at the end of break to collate all of our information.
Checking in with the week 8 recap! This week we’re starting to hone in on our idea a bit more, fleshing out some of the finer details and considering any possible problems there may be with the project. We’ve also completed our first round of paper prototyping for our app and engaged in some feedback sessions with peers in our workshop.
It’s the week 7 recap! This week we started the prototyping phase, kicking things off with some sketches of different screen ideas for our app.
