I feel like a lot of people get "All Art is Political" confused with "All Art is made with Political Intentions" which is not the same.

#not all art is made with political intent but all art is inherently a product of the context/society of the time #making “apolitical” art is political because the artist is in a position of the hierarchy where he can ignore political problems #socioeconomic status/systemic inequalities restrict access to art materials #many leaders have prohibited people of making certain types of art and/or even have made guides on what could be considered “actual” art #law of frontality in ancient egyptian art for example – artists knew how to work with perspective they just had to hide it in ostracons #pigments were extracted through colonial exploitation and still rely on mining practices/environmental injustice with the toxic material #in order for me to write poetry that isn't political i must listen to the birds / in order to hear the birds the warplanes must be silent #politics is never going to ask you if it can exist. you can give it a voice yes but that's another thing. it will just always be there
