they have a way of speaking that sounds objective, even factual. They avoid showing uncertainty, so they often make generalizations and exaggerations. They tend to pose ideas and thoughts as absolute truths. ["She's stronger than both of us, she's stronger than you; you don't stand a chance!" "Our people need a sense of continuity, in order to feel safe in these difficult times."]
that also influences their way of talking about emotions and actions. Generally, they sound very detached from feelings. They usually refer to one's nature and identity. Feelings are things that people *have,* not things they'd *experience.* ["Trust my rage." "I love Thor more dearly than any of you, but you know what he is. He's arrogant, he's reckless, he's dangerous!"]
they stick to direct conversations. They pay attention even to the parts you've left unsaid, and they'll focus on answering the gist of what you talked about. ["It burns you to have come so close. To have the Tesseract, to have power, unlimited power."]
and after all this effort to speak clearly and objectively, they choose to use a mocking or sarcastic tone in any given situation. They can say the absolute clearest truth, and they'll say it so that it can be interpreted in more than one ways. They almost never lie *directly*, they just let people assume whatever they want to. – exception when he told Thor that Odin had died. ["She is holding up alright. For now."]
they won't offend you, unless you offend them. He is polite even. ["Please... I still need that." "Beg your pardon?"]
they are used to being chronically misunderstood. They don't give a shit about what you think of them
they won't defend himself. They might say something to justify his actions, but they doesn't expect you to understand. ["I was merely giving truth to the lie I have been fed my entire life, that I was born to be a king."]
dear silvertounge *will* talk only to hear their own voice. They *will* talk to entertain themself, if you let it. if you ignore them, they'll find something they can annoy you with, and if you shut them up, that will hurt them, even if they don't show it. [The whole escape scenes in TDW]
they are a great rhetoric. They *know* their words, but they are focusing on using the simple and exactly applicable, not the fancy ones. ["This is my bargain, you mewling quim." "gird", "glad tidings", "concoct", " amenable"]
tho when they are frustrated, the style of their speech and their vocabulary becomes more eloquent, sniffy and arrogant. But even then they won't ever overexplain something. ["The humans slaughter each other in droves while you idly fret."]
they also like to use phrases and metaphors that paint a picture. this guy has read disgustingly many books. [You were knee-deep in Jotun blood, why would you take me?" "If I am for the axe then for mercy's sake, just swing it." "Your ledger is dripping. It's gushing red..." "An ant has no quarrel with a boot."]
being listened to makes them feel safe, and also very uncomfortable, because there is no way someone would geniuenly want to hear them out. it would raise suspicions within them, and it would make them test you, probably by annoying you to death. or falling into a weird silence after a certain point.
if you pay attention to their words instead of the delivery of them, and you figure out their logic behind turning their thoughts into statements, you'll know what they really think. But there aren't many who'd focus on them that much.
