… … Okay I know next to nothing about costuming and metalworking, but I used to think that his armor was a paradoxically tarnished gold, that he’d taken his symmetrical Asgardian piece from the end of Thor and broke it and went through Hel with it and fashioned it anew until it was as dented and dark as he was, but it’s not.

The wear marks ARE the gold areas.

I now headcanon that Loki actually sat down and painted the Aesir gold on his armor black like the Dramatic Rebel he is and when it inevitably wore off in the “back alleys” of Yggdrasil the gold underneath became visible.

This is a little rough sketch I did yesterday evening while working, actually, inspired by the norse myth in which Thor and Loki are dressed like a bride and her maid to go and regain Thor’s hammer. At the marriage dinner Thor is hungry and he eats like everything and even something more, making the broom suspicious of the real identity of the bride (he was thinking she was Freyja, the poor naive thing, yeah…).

Loki says: Thor, try to contain yourself…

Thor: But… I’m huuuungryyy
