I'm really bad at knitting

I crochet things (mostly pokemon) | 24 | Rhea is my griffin character | tentatively open for commissions as grad school is being exceedingly difficult

February 2026 - lots of cooking this month, so I briefly stopped living off of my freezer. In order, mussamun curry, air fried fries, and sausage potato stew. I also did the february embroidery blocks and other small emboideries while my cat held me down

January 2026 - started yet another project, this one gifted by my grandmother/great aunt (long story). This one is a block of the month quilt, but each block is done with heat fixed crayon and embroidered line work

December 2025 - I made a dog. It was for a family friend, who recently lost their dog. It was a nice project to work on before the holiday

October 2025 - finally finished all of the commissions from my coworker. She defended her thesis right before Thanksgiving, and I think she did very well. This last set of orders was for an accurate cow placenta with fetus, as her dissertation was on calf fetal development. I also made cinammon rolls

September 2025 - no art stuff. But I do have two cats now!!

August 2025 - tried out some new things. I went to a painting class and machine-quilted for the first time in years. It was fun, in all

July 2025 - I actually got a summer this year. And I spent it on quilts. And crocheted livestock for a coworker

June 2025 - forgot I had tumblr for a while again. Pretty light month, as I was recovering from nearly losing my job. I finished a long-standing cross-stitch, failed at making a lemon tart, and tried a new pizza sauce

May 2025 - I made bread, started a horse, and had a mental breakdown. Pretty typical may, I think

April 2025 - not a month of making but of receiving. I am part of a small quilting group in my town and we had a woman come in with a bunch of quilt tops from her grandmother that were unfinished after her passing. Thus, I have my first (three) "final quilts" that I have the honor of finishing. The first and third pictures have the tops in varying states of progress while the second picture has the backing I chose for the first quilt. These will take a while for me to truly finish, as grad school continues to take my patience and time, but I hope to bring them the life they deserve

March 2025 - I finally remembered that I have a tumblr i said I would update regularly. Oops. I mostly finished projects I had started ages ago and finally got around to making progress. I finished last summer's "walking project" I the form of a life-sized spinarak. I also finished my first two pairs of socks! One for me and one for my brother, who has feet literally twice the size of mine

I made another cow. This one is a line one hereford this time. Also has a baby, but I forgot to take those pictures before delivery

January 2025 - a return to form after a rough fall semester. I finally finished a project for a colleague, who studies calf fetal development. The cow has an opening that allows for the calf to be "delivered" and returned. She has since asked for another one

I also finished the quilt top from the block of the month set up by my local library. I finally had time to baste it as well l, but who knows when I'll actually have time to quilt it

I also tried out @daftpatience vintage cat modification pattern. I sewed him very quickly, so he looks a little rough, but he is the perfect little beanbag. Very throwable

December 2024 - nothing in November, as the second half of my exam revisions threatened my sanity. All of these were done during my "merciful" 10 day break for the holidays. I finally tried to make shortbread, as my dad and I have been in heated discussions over butter temperature and consistency for years (I can lt eat butter though). These ones were a bit too dense, but a good first attempt

I made cinnamon rolls for the family for Christmas, as I arrived home two days before the day and wanted to make it special. They were appreciated

I went to a ceramics studio and painted a stellar's jay. Granted, it's on a male cardinal body, but I think it makes him cuter

I also made pretzels for the family because they love football and I love them

October 2024 - an awful month, but at least I made treats. These are mini apple crisps, a pumpkin roll cake (which I made to celebrate passing the first half of my exams) and fried rice

September 2024 - a change of pace from fiber arts. I was just starting to prep for my PhD candidacy exam, so I was batch making food. I put the rotisserie chicken in the soup to act as a partial stock before I took the meat off and added it back in. The other photo is apple turnovers, which look burnt but tasted good

It's backlog catchup time, if only because grad school gave me a break for more than 15 minutes
