a2: their development as a teenager who didn’t get to go to magic school!

Noir Hollis is significantly more isolated. Her mark or growth is when she gets introduced to other supernatural things, and in noir it happens at college ages while academy-verse is the very beginning of high school. 

Things academy helps her with: generally being okay(er) with her curse and the idea of living with it. Making friends. Opening up emotionally. None of these things have happened yet in noir, and she’s significantly older. She doesn’t have any friends, just some acquaintances and colleagues.

Another important thing was that wsc gave her stability for her teenage years. In noir she’s constantly changing between various public schools, and that’s not very conducive to making lasting relationships. 

a3: their relationship with their powers 

Hollis never was, and probably never will be ‘okay’ with her powers. That said, she’s much more settled in academy-verse (at least by now). I think the biggest thing that helped was the val plotline, where she revealed it to a bunch of people at the end. Afterwards no one was super weird about it, or tried to get her to ruin the world economy or anything like that and it really helped settler her down a little. 

Obviously the Val plotline never happened in noir, and she hasn’t shared her powers with anyone since she was a kid. So noir Hollis only has bad memories of people trying to use her as their own personal bank and is back to being like Hollis was at the very beginning of wsc academy. 

b4: were you ultimately happy with how they changed, and would you do anything different if you were to write them a second time?

NGL it’s hard for me to think of how she really changed. She’s opened up a little, a little more settled in herself, but otherwise she’s not too far off from where she started. 

If I were to do it over again I’d like to speed run her emotional growth. Not like rush through it but just push her a little more, I think I held back too much and it took so long it barely happened!

You know she still loves knitting babey!!! I could never take that from her. That’s all there really is to academy Hollis… rip. Theoretically she also liked tv shows but i don’t watch tv shows so that never actually happened. Noir Hollis still loves knitting bc there’s no way I could give that up but I’m tryna get her to branch out a little? I mean she’s a business woman and runs a small business which is her ~passion~. It feels weird to say she likes paperwork but noir her very much does. 

b1: why did you apply with your character in academy? 

TBH I didn’t have any longstanding ocs before Hollis! She was written specifically for WSC and it’s hard for me to say why I wrote her? All I can really say was that I was listening to a Hayley Kiyoko album a lot when I was writing her (which explains why she’s so gay). It has like. just come out or something and was the only thing I listened to.  

c5: (ideal plotines) shenanigans-wise 

Hollis hasn’t ever been shenanigans-inclined but she’s easy to pull into outside shenanigans. I honestly just want her to get to a point where she can start her own. I’m honestly blanking on what kinds of shenanigans she could get up to/have happen to her.
