noir noah is more... confident in how he goes about his life. it’s funny, because wsc noah is far braver than noir noah, since noir noah hasn’t had to face having to be brave yet.

but yeah, wsc noah goes through life far more cautiously (aware of other people’s feelings, trying not to draw too much attention to himself). noir noah grew up getting what he wanted. when he makes choices, it’s because he expects everything to go his way. and it’s only now that he’s moved to the City that he’s beginning to realise life doesn’t actually work like that.

are there any facets of your character in their application that never got acted on in the rp?

i don’t think so! i definitely have some :/ feelings about not getting to write him as much as i wanted to (thanks to my own lack of availability and so on), but i am pretty happy with how well i’ve come to know/understand him as a character and the opportunities to throw him into different situations to get those less obvious aspects of his personality across.

ideals for noir: future partner/kids-wise

noir noah is a bit too young for kids, i think, especially given he’s going to live a long time and actually Be young for a fairly long time. noah in a family friend/uncle-type role is good though; he likes kids but isn’t ready for the responsibility of being an actual dad.

(honestly, his family has generally had kids pretty early on, considering their lifespan. i think i did go and make most of his family members a fair bit older in noir, but i’ll have to double check.)

partner-wise? i think noir noah is less ready for a relationship than wsc noah was. he probably needs to work on his emotional maturity for a little while before he’s ready for anything serious/involving commitment.

ideally, it’d be good if he found someone he could like, 100% be himself around and know that they really, actually like him.

their development as a teenager who didn’t get to go to magic school!

i think that the most important aspects of ‘not attending a magic school’ are actually just the side effects of this, because so much of wsc noah’s backstory was tied to growing up at the school.

two of the major factors in differences between wsc and noir noah are:

growing up with family - noah has a far better understanding of his powers in noir because he grew up around people who also had those powers. he doesn’t have the same questions about who/what he is that he struggled with in early/middle wsc. he also grew up wealthy, which obviously affected him pretty significantly.

not growing up with val - i think a big part of noah’s just, passive friendliness and anxiety was a result of growing up with someone who could sense distress and was over-involved in school activities. wsc noah spent a huge portion of his life trying to make sure people were getting along, that val was okay, and trying to live up to the standards val unintentionally set for him (joining web, being involved, not being an asshole). noir noah still has aspects of this, because not all of it came from growing up with val, but i do think he had a bit of a morality shift, and he’s a little meaner in noir.

aside from that, not growing up at magic school means he’s a lot less familiar with supernatural species/powers/etc. outside his own.

what surprised you most about the way your character developed?

i actually don’t think noah threw too many surprises my way character development-wise!

probably the most interesting (to me) were:

choosing to learn how to fight

the fact that he could put his foot down and get angry in a non-passive aggressive way

the development of his courage to the point where he helped aud perform emergency surgery on val in the middle of the forest on prom island.

ideals for noir: relationships-wise:

i’d like to see him get to a point in a relationship (platonic or romantic, tbh) where he feels comfortable admitting how much that person means to him. in noir, the first step is probably getting close enough to somebody that they mean something to him, actually. but not being able to do that has been a constant in noah’s relationships throughout wsc (the closest he got was probably telling arash that he ‘really’ likes him, and even that was difficult for him), so it’d be nice for him to develop emotionally enough to do that.

wheres he going……

[ nothing about noah seems to visually change.

(he’s been flower-free the past couple of days, trying to keep as human an appearance as possible since he’s one of the kids who can.)

instead, he falls asleep and sleeps for nine hours. he eats three full meals over the course of the day. he never gets the urge to go outside and photosynthesise.

if he focuses, he can still grow flowers from his skin, still hear what the trees whisper to each other when he walks past, but it’s not as effortless (or accidental) as it usually is. ]
