#So Kieran and the gang are trying to stop Mephistopheles right#His original crew is missing and that includes his soulmate / chosen brother Zane#So he's wandering the continent trying to find him while stopping the archdevil trying to usurp Asmodeus by conquering the material plane#so they're all bunking at Zane's family's home in the forest to get some rest before their next checkpoint#Kieran is struggling mentally and his/Zane's mother was there to comfort him#Kieran has been convinced this whole time that Zane didn't want him in his life anymore due to a huge fallout they had before Kieran's#disappearance. So he's been a little unsure about if he REALLY wanted to find Zane and insert himself into his life again#Especially since it sounded like by all accounts no one ever bothered to look for Kieran when he vanished?#But Zane's mother shared with Kieran a whole slew of letters Zane wrote to her about him trying to find Kieran#Ruminating on his mistakes and what he would have done differently#And how much he wants Kieran back in his life — it's hollow without them both side-by-side#and Kieran had a big cry!!!!#The reveal about how much Zane missed Kieran was supposed to happen much later but this was the perfect opportunity#and i weep. it has been 3 irl years since these two were separated. AUGHHHHHHH
