Quiet morning and flowering feelings

Mikage opens his eyes slowly, adjusts to the barely lit room with soft blinks and quiet mumbling to himself. He turns, grabs his phone and flinches at the light it gives off, then checks the time with squinted eyes and yawns. It’s 5:30 am, the sun isn’t up yet, and he’s sleepy. Even so, he stretches with a quiet noise and sits up. He pushes off covers, briefly considers jumping down to the floor, then decides not to and drags his body down the wooden ladder.

Literally fucked. He can’t even count his own wounds. And he doesn’t know how much more cuts can his band-aids afford to patch up. It’s embarrassing, but he’s too poor, he cannot afford to go to the hospital. And you bet he probably has loose screws in his head already. He doesn’t believe in anything, anyone. But at least he used to long for kindness.

Freen is the protagonist in my original story the Odd one. Living in a world where everyone is destined to find their true love and happiness, it is almost perfect. Almost. Because unfortunately, the population of the world is an odd number. And the the odd one out is destined to nothing but endless misery.
