People last chapter saying “Oh Gojo’s gonna GET IT” HOW DARE YOU! My son is a GENTLEMAN! His hands are firmly planted on his knees the ENTIRE time. He’s a good boy and I will not hear this slander lol
Blizzard doesn't know how to make anything right anymore.
They restricted replies to this because they know it’s obvious /vg/ bait and if you’re on OWTwit AT ALL you’d know not a single esports player complained and devs didn’t say ANYTHING about nerfs or adjustments. They never do until AFTER the trial weekend. Like why spread misinformation over here?
Hi, random person here. Just saw your post criticizing the male lead of A Condition called Love and just wanted to say THANK YOU. BC SAME. I dont know the manga but I also got icky vibes from him! Same with A Sign of Affection.
I hate it bc I really would love a new good romance anime but I keep getting disappointed 😭 Anyway, Im really glad Im not alone bc I thought sth is wrong with me 🙈 (aroace insecurities hurraaay)
I felt so ALONE honestly. And anytime I'd voice it I'd get a sea of "You aren't up to date with the manga so your opinion doesn't count." or "At least he's better than [Insert Male Lead who's openly hostile and mean to his Heroine]"
And it's like... I read 3 volumes of A Condition Called Love. In those volumes he: Love bombs the heroine. Stalks her. Admits to having a shrine for her in his house. (They've been dating a month) Is dismissive and hostile to her friends. And it's all played for laughs or Romance.
That was where I emotionally checked out by the way, Hananoi corners one Hotaru's friends (Her Best Friend's Boyfriend) and tells him to stop talking to Hotaru about romance (Giving her advice) and to stop trying to be his friend. The BF's boyfriend is sorta stunned but laughs it off. All of Hotaru's other friend's talk about how Hananoi ignored all of them and only paid attention to Hotaru. (It's painted as like squeeee he only cares about HER how dreamy!) and Hotaru thinks he just might be shy. And like, that would be fine if the framing was different. I think that's my issue: THE FRAMING. To me these aren't painting a picture of a troubled boy who was healed by a single kindness from a girl. He's possessive of her. And manipulative. And again I'd be FINE with that. I love me some dark fantasy novels lol But it's about framing.
We as Shojo fans deserve better from our shows. A friendly commenter noted that I might not like Dessert Magazine manga and upon further inspection I think they're right. I prefer Hana to Yume. I think the difference might be that Hana to Yume heroine's seem to have more going on? Like they have jobs or lives outside of the romance? That might just be my Ace-ness talking though lol
I gotta put this somewhere because A Condition Called Love is now out and the episode game me the same bad vibes as the manga: I really don’t like the Male Leads of the current Shojo manga era. I couldn’t stand the Male Lead for A Sign of Affection last season either.
Hananoi love bombs Hotaru and I kept waiting for the manga to talk about how it’s bad and it just never happened. He corners a boy who has done nothing but be friendly to him and says “I only care about Hotaru stop talking to me.” That’s bad. And that was like 3 volumes in. How many chapters does it take before someone calls him out on it? I’ll never know because I checked out there.
I don’t mind flawed characters. But there’s gotta be some evidence that it’s wrong or it’s gonna be addressed and it never is. And it’s not that I don’t like Shojo any more because I’m still fully on board for Skip Beat and Yona of the Dawn and they’ve been stringing me along for a decade lol
I don't think it's a shoujo thing, you might just not vibe with the new manga coming from Dessert magazine? A Sign of Affection and A Condition Called Love both run is Dessert, and a lot of manga from there have a very specific tempo. Say I Love You, My Little Monster, House of the Sun, Lovesick Ellie, You Got Me Sempai, and Wake Up Sleeping Beauty are some other Dessert manga.
Skip Beat and Yona of the Dawn are both from Hana to Yume, the same magazine that made Fruits Basket, Kamisama Kiss, Gakuen Alice, Oresama Teacher, Takane and Hana, The World is Still Beautiful, Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts, and more. They have Tamon's B Side running in it right now, so maybe that might be more up your alley?
Ooooooh you might have hit it lolol because I HAVE read Tamon and I did like it lol I apparently just don’t like Dessert, the only one from that list that I liked was My Little Monster and that’s because the heroine was levels of petty I’d never seen before and it was refreshing lol
Ah glad to know! Hana to Yume is my personal favorite shoujo magazine, I like how their manga blend interesting characters and dynamics with compelling plots.
Yeah, Dessert is very hit-or-miss for me. They're very romance focused and some of their manga feel a bit too same-y to me since they share a lot of similar tropes; fast romantic progression, fluff, contemporary school settings, second male leads, etc. Though I do like how a lot of their newer manga emphasize communication and openness between a couple, they feel very modern in that sense.
Have you read House of the Sun (age gap) or Wake Up Sleeping Beauty? Those two are my favorite Dessert manga, probably because their main plots are about family drama (instead of only being about romance).
I haven’t read those but I’ll check them out! Thank you for the recommendations! I like when romance isn’t the only focus, it’s good when your couple’s got other stuff going on and the end all be all isn’t their first high school partner lol I also felt that might be part of it, I’m getting older and High School drama is played out, I’ve read too much lol

Believe me I know from what place you come (though for me Itsuomi and Yuki are the falling at first sight point of view since Yuki live him as quickly than he does) and you know what
I really REALLY didn't like Hananoi and kept reading just because a new friend encouraged me to and I wanted to know why everyone was going crazy at the 10th volume
It slowly fall in place while he act that way and while it sound like an excuse, the narrative make it more obvious that Hananoi is a teen written at a times where mangaka seem to grasp how young their mcs are rather than making 14 yo daddy dom boss of a company or bullshit like this
I do think that even like this the narrative IS too soft on him at some moment, but it's rereading and thinking about it that I finished to understand the vision of the mangaka even if I would've definitely make Hananoi be called out way earlier in the manga and much violently
I totally understand if you don't want to keep going though, it's just the two cents of someone who really didn't expect to get interested in the manga at all, especially that "but he have a backstory" don't make me budge usually
Are you saying it takes TEN VOLUMES before they even TRY to justify his… I mean for lack of a better word obsession? I kinda like Hotaru as an MC because she read very Ace/Graysexual to me and that’s really refreshing but the way Hananoi treats her is really uncomfortable to me lol If it takes 10 volumes I might just have to say it’s not for me lol

i love in bg3 when shadowheart says loudly to tav “i don’t trust them” right in front of the person in question. my girl doesn’t know how to whisper.
“DONT TELL THEM ANYTHING [about the relic]” -Shadowheart two feet away from the Githyanki patrol who are staring right at her.
Scenes I’m excited to see animated in the now confirmed Season Two of My Dress Up Darling!
No joke, I know people think the School Fair arc went on too long but the pay off for Gojo as a character is 100% worth it imo Also Gojo looking like a total snack in Marin’s eyes will never not be good lol
Scooby Doo (2002) dir. Raja Gosnell
you know what there were a lot of jokes in this movie that went over my head as a kid
that’s because this movie was filmed as an R-rated (18+) parody, but at the last moment before release, warner bros decided it would loose them too many fans of the cartoon for children and sully the good name of Scooby Doo and had the film re-edited down to PG. why do you think so much smoke was coming out of the mystery machine? why shaggy’s girlfriend is called mary jane? daphne and velma were lesbians and one of the first instances of cgi costumes on human actors was used to raise the neckline on their blouses. Freddy was played as gay with only the scene where they admit it deleted.
if you don’t know about this, seriously look it up. here’s a very toned-down wiki article but there’s much more out there. this film sounds like it was written for tumblr ten years early
lmao was nobody gonna mention this iconic scrappy-doo-hating behavior
James Gunn the writer and director has debunked this myth on Twitter like a dozen times guys. He said he was aiming for PG-13. Never R.
Every bad review for Thor: Love and Thunder I read, even on here, has been like “I didn’t like the comedy! It should take itself seriously!” Like darlin’ these movies are not for you. They tried “Serious Thor” for two movies and it was a drag and boring. Thor is a comedy series for the she, they’s, and Gays now, you can leave.
(The movie is fun and the drama is genuinely moving, I don’t cry at Marvel movies [except GotG2] but this did move me at one point. The theatre I was in laughed a lot. It also is pretty gay, not just in characters but tone. Taika knows his audience.)
Luther try not to fall in love with your sorta sisters challenge: Impossible
I saw a review for Triangle Strategy that was like “Oh it’s fine except the characters are all boring because they’re too nice to each other.” And I was so taken aback like… yeah, of course they’re nice to each other they’re mostly FRIENDS or employees. Like it’s a tense political drama where the slightest misspoken word can cost lives and this reviewer wanted them throwing punches or screaming at each other.
Been playing Triangle Strategy. The men are mostly bara or twink but every SINGLE WOMAN is stunning, flawless, no notes. Have yet to meet a woman who I didn’t love. The story is now about a pink Princess and her all women army. I don’t make the rules lol
Praying to the Cloverworks Gods that they animate this beautiful man. I love him. Please 🙏 I need Mr Fabric Guru
Easter Eggs Hidden in Marin's Bedroom
So Marin's room has been flooded with direct references to Future Cosplay's and characters. I thought I'd collect all the one's I spotted.
I'll go left to right:
In the bottom left hand corner we have the cover of the Succubus 4 Koma. Right above that is Arisha from KochiCom, she, Komari and Kureha show up multiple times in this room including figures, Nendo's and a wallscroll right above the striped pillow! The Pink Idol wallscroll is Subaru from Cosraba.
The three girls from KochiCom. And I feel real proud of this catch, right above Shizuku's big poster there are three smaller posters. The first is the Succubus 4koma and the third is a mystery but the second is 100% Sena and Haruka from the same anime as Subaru (The Pink Idol)
Finally rounding this out we have an adorable glimpse of Shizuku's School Festival uniform
Some of my favourite manga panels from the first chapters of My Dress Up Darling but I’m not a pervert so it’s the kids just being cute and dorks lol
