Replies To The Kommissar

A couple of you lovelies asked for a second part to Letters To A Maus, so here it is.

Enjoy.

“Dear Kommissar,

So I’m not good with words. I never have been. With you especially. You make my head spin like a kaleidoscope of crazy thought. I don’t understand it. I barely know you, and even in those few moments of conversation you frustrated me, intimidated me, bedazzled me.

God, who uses the word bedazzled anymore? This is what you do to me, you ignite a fire in me that I never knew existed, and it melts me. It melts my thought process, every clever response I think of dissolves into my useless tongue.

I get tunnel vision when you cross my mind. You cross my mind more than I’ll ever admit. Everything else fades away, until the only thing I can see is gold, poured thinly into precious strands that arrange into the tightest bun I have ever seen. Flawless everything. I swear, you weren’t born, you popped out of a magazine.

Ok, my thoughts are running away from me. What I’m trying to say is, I like you.

A lot.

If you gave me even the slightest hint of interest, I would honestly drop everything and come running.

I would run to you, and I never run.

You make me want to do fantastical things.

You make me want to believe in fantastical things.

I’m pretty sure you could convince me that unicorns exist.

Beca’s fingers hover over her laptop keyboard. She’s crazy, she knows it. But she can do this, she’s got the email address, she’s got the late night confidence, loopy bravery to spurn herself on. She can do this. She really can. Maybe.

Luisa’s exercise routine is interrupted by a ding. Another email. She’s procrastinated answering fan mail long enough, it’s time to face the music. She wipes the sweat off her brow as she calls up a browser. The little icon is cheerfully lit up to notify her of the many emails she’s received. Fan mail. Fan mail. More fan mail. A singular email catches her eye. The subject header says “Hey.” Not “I love you!” or “Please read this, Kommissar” but “Hey.” Of course she’s received emails like this one before, but they always appeal to her more than adoration. She opens the email.

“Hey, I got your letter.

Fuck you.

Beca.”

Absolutely. c: Coming right up.

Who accidentally pushes a door instead of pulling/vice versa:

Beca, pretty much all the time.

Who doodles little hearts all over the desk with their initials inside them:

Beca again, but Kommissar thinks it’s cute and charming.

Who starts the tickle fights:

Kommissar, though it’s usually by accident. It’s not her fault Beca’s extremely ticklish.

Who starts the pillow fights:

There are no pillow fights. They both find them obnoxious.

Who falls asleep last, watching the other with a small affectionate smile:

Kommissar usually, but Beca has also been known to do this.

Who mistakes salt for sugar:

Beca. Like with the door thing, she just doesn’t really pay that much attention.

Who lets the microwave play the loud beeping sound at 1am in the morning:

They’re both guilty, but Kommissar is the culprit more often because her timezones are more often messed up due to travel, so she’s more likely to be eating that late.

Who comes up with cheesy pick up lines:

Beca, usually by accident. They work.

Who rearranges the bookshelf in alphabetical order:

Kommissar. And it’s not just the bookshelf, either. She’s a stickler for organization and patterns.

Who licks the spoon when they’re baking brownies:

Beca. Kommissar thinks that’s kind of gross.

Who buys candles for dinners even though there’s no special occasion:

Kommissar, and it usually means she really wants to get Beca into bed that night.

Who draws little tattoos on the other with a pen:

Beca, even though she can’t draw that well.

Who comes home with a new souvenir magnet every time they go on vacation:

It’s not for vacation, but whenever DSM travels somewhere new, Kommissar brings back a magnet. It’s become A Thing.

Who convinces the other to fill out those couple surveys in the back of magazines:

They don’t really do them. But if they did, it’d probably be Kommissar because she’s secretly a big nerd.
