me, standing on top of a table while slowly clapping my hands together because i cant help but do a standing ovation together with my awe for skynani for having an undeniable chemistry and phenomenal performances whenever they are asked to.

i think i will think a lot about skynani's performance as niranpete specifically on episode eight because every little interaction, micro expression, detail, and dialogue just felt incredibly natural. nothing was ever artificial to me in that episode. like. you cant really make that up.

I love that in the end, the "demon" was neither good nor evil, but part of nature. It just had to be reminded that could rest until it was needed to keep balance in the world. The real evil was a regular, degular politician who started with good intensions but was corrupted in his rise to power.

in the last scene of the final episode of wu, shown on the last day of pride, we see that it was always about niran finding pete and what they would become to each other

the demon and political stuff was just what happened to be going on when niran found his soulmate and began their bond

like i've said before, this was always a love story, and them not having sex or being traditionally romantic does nothing to diminish that. if anything, it proves how strong it really is

I've been wondering the whole time where Wu was going with its political plot, and apparently the answer was "going so much harder than you imagined."

Niran affirming that Qi Rong's violent outrage has a place in the world, although we hope it is not here and now? The not-a-ritual but still spiritually revelatory mirror questioning? The once-idealistic politician who has made compromises, which might have been necessary and even good, but in the end crossed a line one must not cross?

I love that the show has said from beginning to end that the yao are also part of the natural order. I love that Pete learned to work with the demon inside of him instead of expelling it. I love the lack of purity, the recognition of grim struggle in every aspect of life. Philosophically, it feels more sound and resonant to me than a lot of common fantasy/supernatural stories.
