We visited Hohenschwangau Castle before heading to Neuschwanstein. Many visitors don’t visit Hohenschwangau (300K vs 2.2Million for Neuschwanstein) so the tour is less crowded and the information much more in-depth. ‘

A short walk thru the Nymphenburg Palace grounds Saturday evening - also ‘in the neighborhood’ - the former hunting lodge and summer residence of the Wittelsbach line of Bavarian kings. The grounds are laid out in a formal manner and are very serene. Lots of geese on the abundant waterways/canals flowing thru the gardens.
