Unlikely Allies Years have passed since King Harrow and King Avizandum killed each other at the Storm Spire, and peace and stability seem like a faraway dream both in Xadia and in the Pentarchy. With Queen Zubeia's and Queen Khessa's focus elsewhere, Rayla has taken it upon herself to protect the border and keep everyone safe from dark mages. But her parents' footsteps are hard to fill, even though she is willing to give her life to prove herself worthy of it. And when one day the Prince of Katolis brings news of a greater threat, both he and Rayla are forced to reconsider old alliances, and old feuds, if they want peace to have a chance.
WIPs (Work in Progress) and loose ideas that might become WIPs (or even finished) someday:
Spartacus (working title): Torn apart by war and enslaved in a foreign realm, Callum and Rayla have almost lost hope of ever seeing each other again. Until, one day, their paths unexpectedly cross once more. In the bloody sands of the arena.
Sarai (working title): After Thunder killed her husband at the border, Queen Sarai chose not to seek revenge. Viren, however, has other plans.
Multiverse (working title): Rayla works at the Katolis Large Hadron Collider. One day, after an almost critical incident, she comes home to find herself already there.
Emperor (working title): Guided by his wise and powerful advisors, Emperor Ezran has led Katolis to the height of its power. Now no one dares stand against him – no one but his own brother and the royal assassin who have grown weary of conquering new lands for the empire.
Orient Express (working title): The Orient Express – a train renowned for its illustrious selection of passengers who frequently include members of royalty, famous artists, eager business folk, secretive spies, and more – is departing Eboreus, capital of Neolandia, heading towards the distant lands of Xadia in the east. On board is also Prince Callum of Katolis, returning home from a diplomatic mission. Travelling incognito, however, he doesn’t plan on concerning himself with politics on this trip. Over the course of weeks of travel he rather finds his attention drawn to the mysterious woman who boarded the train with him, and they soon find themselves closer than anticipated, slowly unravelling each other’s secrets.
Hangover (working title): On the day after Ezran’s wedding party, Rayla wakes up next to Callum with no recollection of the previous night, but with a lot of questions: Where are they? Where are their clothes? And where is the key for the manacles that are inexplicably chaining them together?
Primal (working title): The world is young, and spirits freely roam the lands and the skies. Using the stones of the earth, the wood of the forests, and even the mystery of fire, humanity has slowly learned to survive in this unforgiving realm. But when the world changes and food starts running low, Callum, the chieftain’s son, is sent out to seek help – if necessary even from the spirits themselves.
Watcher (working title): Raised in secrecy in the bowels of Katolis Castle, Rayla is used to follow the orders of the man she has grown to see as her father, and Viren only has two tasks for her: protect the princes. Don’t get seen.
But a life lived in the shadows can become lonely, and slowly she starts to wonder …
Finding A Way: After a time of turmoil, Katolis is struggling to regain a peaceful balance that allows both humans and the kingdom’s new elven inhabitants to prosper. However, stability is hard to find, despite the hard labour of the common folk, and despite the government's iron fist that is trying to quell any unrest.
Meanwhile, Callum and Rayla have grown up far from money and power, and are still struggling to make ends meet. Newly married and living in an almost respectable part of town, they are nonetheless determined to make their happiness work. But when making a living gets harder each day and tensions rise, no one can remain unaffected forever.
