my last reblog inspired me to post i HATEEEE when people defang vance or mellow him out or make him a âsofterâ person, especially in an au where he survives like it just isnt happening and it also makes him So much more of a boring character
some posts i think fit his energy and this point:
âfuck being a perfect victim fuck being a decent one, something horrible was done to you and it was never recognised and you will never ever get back the person you were beforeâ i could not have said it better myselfâŚ
i would of course want him to find peace and get himself into a good mental place but considering his upbringing, personality, all heâs been through, etc, i think itâd be a very long road of self-destruction and suffering before he finally reaches a good place in his life
overall i just think mellowing him out is such a disservice to his characterđ the anger he wallows in is sooooo crucial to him and it makes him feel more real and stands him apart from the rest of the victims (to me, anyway) and it makes no sense to take that away from him !!!

I have a million issues with the Black Phone 2, but one of my criticisms that I actually think is kind of funny if I donât take it too seriously is how the movie ended.
Like, Iâve seen people complain that Gwen got the final phone call (which I agree is a major issue because it should have been a dream, this movie really just dropped the ball when it came to consistent in universe rules).
But I think the funniest thing about it is that after Hope talks to Gwen and tells her to tell Finn she loves him, we then get that Robin said to tell Finn hi.

Like, imagine being Ernesto and hearing that your brother got one opportunity to say something to someone and he didnât choose you.

Rant about SOME people in the Black Phone community.
Just so you know I talk a LOT about the implied S/A of the boys and mention some of the indicators I noticed. If that makes you uncomfortable, or is a trigger for you, scroll.
I watched The Black Phone with my friend last night and we both loved it, so, naturally decided to go online and explore the fandom.Â
Iâm not lying when I tell you I CRIED out of anger at the literal second post I saw.Â
It was a picture of The Grabber when he tried to play naughty boy the first time, and the caption had something to do with Finny being âlucky to have those pillows all to himselfâ, referencing The Grabberâs chest and stomach. One of the comments said Finny was being fucking greedy for not sharing. And, like I said, it was genuinely so insensitive and disgusting that I cried.
I donât understand how people can sit here and post shit like that online. I donât understand how you can sit here and make a post like that. If Finny couldnât hear shit from that phone he would have been sexually assaulted and killed like all of the rest of those boys, and itâs not something that anybody should be joking about, regardless if itâs fiction or not.Â
Not only have I seen disgusting shit like that, but me and my friends have discovered that people genuinely believe that those boys were not being sexually assaulted, which astounds me.Â
Some of youse need to actually pick up a book or go back to fourth grade ELA classes, because tell me why people canât see what is set out right in front of them? You shouldnât have to see a five minute scene of the grabber sexually assaulting someone. You shouldnât have to when itâs  so heavily implied.Â
If half of these people had any media literacy that would have picked it up. There were extremely obvious similarities to John Wayne Gacy. The Naughty Boy game should have been self explanatory. Just the way The Grabber was touching Finny that first time he came into the basement should immediately have turned anyone off. How many wounds did we see on Vance? Not many, right? So what did The Grabber âtake his time withâ
It is self explanatory, and people need to start using their brains.Â
It isnât funny to make jokes about rape and sexual assault, whether itâs in a fictional setting or not. Itâs not quirky to simp over a rapist pedofile. Itâs not funny to not be media literate. And you shouldnât need a rape scene in Black Phone to understand whatâs happening when the directors so heavily implied it.
