One of my favorite arcs! Reread it and then some. He was probably disassociating/terrified while carrying the palanquin with the ‘Agent’ to the ritual site.

I think the paper boat being symbolic of his moral code of ‘returning the favor’ is pretty neat.

(Added parts of the process as well and I was torn on which version to make as the main picture. I wanted the one where it covers his eyes but it seemed too romantic/soft for that part of the novel.

The banners were inspired from the sample artwork by arkaingel on the notion archive!

I thought I’d take it easy for this day since it’s black and white but this was the hardest to make😂🤕.)

I was mostly thinking about the time after he lost his eye. He was probably all alone in the hospital, and had to take care of himself along with a newly acquired visual impairment.

It made me think that he’d probably long for his older sister at that moment, who used to peel him an apple from the yard. Maybe even one poached from the neighbors. Now he has to do it himself, and he probably wouldn’t be very good at it, sister gone before she could teach him, and worse now with his eye taken too.
