Homebrew / Soundhax update:
In case you havenât heard. The newest firmware, 11.4, has patched Soundhax, which was previously the entrypoint of choice for Homebrew and the one I used. If you havenât updated your firmware yet and use Homebrew/JKSM, it is NOT SAFE to update yet. The best way to access Homebrew seems to be through the $20 game Cubic Ninja, which I doubt many people will want to peruse... so hang on to your 11.3 for now, or you can look into NINJHAX if your system meets the criteria. Doodlebomb does NOT work, either. @mischacrossing has a video with much more elaborate info HERE.
HOMEBREW HACKING [Fixed]
I just want to throw out there that Homebrewâs JK save editor (through the 3DS sounds app) wonât work after the update. This is my first time using Homebrew and I didnât even think to check for possible issues before updating, which is my fault, but please be careful. Right now I canât open homebrew and access my edited saves. If anyone has already found a solution to this and I just am not aware, please let me know! I am currently on System version 11.3.0, and today is February 21st, 2017. EDIT: @mayor-hashley saved my life just now. If youâre still a homebrew newbie like me, remember to update your otherapp file to the new version number of your 3DS! You can do that here, about halfway down the page. If youâve forgotten how to replace the files, the guide video is here.
Happy hacking, y'all đ
Thanks to @pigeoncoffee for her soundhax guide! Links to her guides and other links mentioned in the video are in the description box! đ

Shelter is a gorgeous town that was so bright and peaceful! I absolutely adore how the colour yellow is used, and seeing little lemons on the ground in places was so aesthetically pleasing. Scarlett, you did such a fantastic job on this town ahhhh <3

Bit the bullet and ordered a full set of Japanese Sanrio cards for $33. The Japanese set is harder to collect due to the cards being 2 per pack so Iâm okay with that, plus the shipping is faster with tracking as opposed to waiting for GAME to restock and allegedly waiting over a month ;-;
Scored Stella for $1.50 too so Iâm not too bent out of shape about it either. SIGH those cards were a pain in the butt, but theyâre so so cute!!
I regularly get asked for the QR codes of the stepping stone path I use in my ACNL town, so here are all the seasonal versions I had handy for those that would like them.
A few caveats for people interested in using these QR codes:
These do not correspond to a full year of grass color changes. If I remember correctly: âspringâ matches April 1st-July 5th (with a special cherry blossom version for April 1st-10th), âfallâ matches November 2nd-17th, and âwinterâ matches December 11th-February 24th.
Because the color of the grass can change dramatically during different times of the day/weather conditions, these paths will only fully match some of the time. I edit the pallet of my patterns to get better matches when I take screenshots or update my dream town, but for someone using a QR code made by a different person this is not an option. Be aware!
EDIT: I made some more seasonal variations of this path covering summer, mid-September, and early fall, check them out in this post!

Animal Crossing is starting to hit the hallmarks...
I think once HHD released, they showcased that they were listening. The entire game was devoted to design and put a lot of emphasis on a HUGE amount of new items. They finally got it right with the skin tone choice (which will undoubtedly carry over into the next main installment, so weâre set there). Customization was revolutionized and this slipped into an update that I never expected for New Leaf. 3+ years after its release, Nintendo made the absolutely genius (and perhaps risky) move of creating a HUGE update for a title that was, in the handheld world, quite old. Itâs practically a new game now. They created a huge incentive to boost sales of Amiibo and Amiibo cards by allowing players to use these IRL items to get brand new in-game items and, best of all, INVITE THEIR FAVORITE VILLAGERS BACK INTO TOWN. Pretty much immediately. Not only that, but the villager of CHOICE will be replaced. They realized that while the game is meant to be ultra-casual, there simply was absolutely NOTHING to do. There was indeed a ceiling of enjoyment. Players created their own goals of landscaping, but even those can be met and exceeded. Then what? Why not a few mini games? The novelty of minigames was something I never expected and I think it really paid off. The games are thoughtful, cute, and incorporate interesting mechanics with Amiibo cards to boot.
Perhaps the most important move was something they never really mentioned as much as the other features. Players now have close to complete control over where a villager moves in. AC realized that as much as it is a laid back game, the fear of everything being âruinedâ upon a playerâs return was keeping them away from the title. If they drop off, theyâre too afraid to return. Now, villagers wonât move onto paths, allowing mayors to create makeshift âplotsâ to preserve the carefully created layouts of their towns. Even if a favorite moves, they can be reeled right back in the very next day. Absolutely genius. This makes me very optimistic about the future of Animal Crossing. I feel like the next game will be really special.
