lord, please, stop making me cry
(through tears) this set and the camera work in this scene are so prettyyy
not to sound too Catholic on main (as always) but there's something beautiful about the way Jesus picking his mother up to hug her inverts the classic Madonna-and-Child imagery. wah.
"then he died."
jonathan is a gifted storyteller. truly.
âTalk to a trusted adultâ where tf are you finding these trusted adults???
âWhat, are you gonna call ur mom?â
my mom btw ->
10% of my prayers to Mary: "Ăve MarĂa, grĂĄtia plĂ©na, DĂłminus tĂ©cum..."
The other 90%: "Mom..."*cries*
The more i think about it, the more brilliant the Big Twistâą was, in terms of story.Â
The fact that the rebellion came from an upper class gem disguised as a common gem is even more powerful to the story.
First of all, to those who scream, âbut why didnât Pink use her power as a Diamond to make an actual impact? why didnât she go to war against the Diamonds as a Diamond?â
Letâs leave aside the fact that she wasnât exactly on the same level as the other Diamonds, in terms of how they viewed her. Pink didnât want this to become a civil war. she wanted to rebel against the system itself, not to divide it in half and make gems choose a âsideâ. in which case, the more likely scenario is that it would be a war between Pinkâs court to othersâ courts, because gems are programmed to follow and admire their Diamond before any other Diamond (though they usually show loyalty to the authority as a whole).
Second, Pink wanted gems to BREAK FREE of the Homeworld system. If they fought under Pinkâs name, they wouldnât think they fight for their own freedom. Pink wanted the rebellion to come from within gem society. Problem was, she never was truly within it: and she never would be, unless she blended in with the other simple soldiers. The fact a âsimple soldierâ like Rose Quartz managed to think out of the HW mentality is what inspired gems like Bismuth and Garnet to do the same. Was it fake? yes and no.
to those who scream âit takes away from the rebellion, they were just following another Diamond!â No they werenât. They thought they followed a common gem, but more importantly, they followed her message.
We donât know if gems who lived in HW society could even dare to think to rebel against it. it was BECAUSE of Pinkâs upbringing, the fact that she was spoiled and believed she deserved the best, that she believed she (and other gems) DESERVE freedom! and the reason she felt like she COULD make a difference. other regular gems could potentially make a difference, but non of them THINK they can, because HW system and society feeds them the idea that theyâre nothing without their job and purpose. Not until they met Rose Quartz. Pinkâs upbringing and origins were necessary for the development of mindset she had to start the rebellion.
Homeworldâs society is based on self-sacrifice for the greater good. Everyone, from Pearls to Diamonds, are expected to preform their jobs without question, all in order to expend their race through space. The fact that Pink was selfish enough to think about what she WANTS to do, not what would be ideal to Gem race as a whole (again this is part thanks to her upbringing) is what pushed her to question HWâs rules and system.
And lastly, it shows us Diamonds arenât that different. Pink didnât burst out of the ground thinking that all gems deserve freedom and that organic life rules. She wanted a colony of her own, spent years yearning for one, she WANTED to be a ruler like the other Diamonds. and she changed her mind. If she could, potentially ALL Diamonds can. We shouldnât assume that just because theyâre on top, and are DIAMONDS, they wouldnât want to change. In fact, with Pinkâs secret out in the open, thereâs a good chance theyâll be willing to listen- we know at least Blue and Yellow loved Pink.
So yeah, Pink actually made the right choice to not reveal her identity during the rebellion. I think she shouldâve maybe told Garnet about it when everything was said and done, but I think she was too ashamed, and filled with remorse and guilt over what happened. And she didnât feel like a Diamond, so she probably convinced herself it wasnât truly a lie to pretend she never was.
wow, the lyrics to âStrong in the Real Wayâ really fit this situation. FUCK THIS SHOW MAN
iâve been uhhhhhhhh wreckedÂ
smol.
âRose kept many things secret, even from us.â
(SPOILERS if you havenât watched âA Single Pale Roseâ)
Who keeps leaving these everywhere??
Seemed funnier in my head.. In light of all the confusion about the latest episode, âA Single Pale Rose,â I figured Iâd try'n crack a few jokes, this being one of them.
âno one can stop what i must do,
i swear, iâll give my life for you.â
i couldnt stop thinking about this sketch and how to make it better. so i slaved until 1:45 am to finally finish it
basically A Single Pale Rose in a nutshellÂ
Pink Diamond: Itâs so nice to finally meet the two of you.
