Koumori Comics is a cartooning club I started in 2009, and since then, I have gotten to know some amazing artists and writers through KC. I remember our late nights spent getting the final page counts in to go to the printers, and all of the great conversations I've had with many members over the years.

I've had people come to me and tell me how Koumori Comics has inspired them to write more, to draw more, or even better—to remind people that no, they're not crazy and alone in this world where "cartooning" is thought of as "not a real job" and "you can never do that."

Now, we're a close group of folks who helps one another; we don't publish anything anymore, but we are great friends and will help out one another in our times of need.

I've met some of my best and closest friends through Koumori Comics.

We currently are hosting a fundraising party on July 12th to cover the cost of hosting and going to a once a year convention that connects us with local Austin artists.

If you are in the area and want to participate, please come and donate! It's $5-$10 suggested donation, and food and drinks are provided.

If you're not in the area, please donate on our website and help support local Austin cartoonists. We all continue to go to Koumori Comics because we love it, not because we get paid for it, and keeping this group going is a labor of love on our part.

This came to mind as soon as I saw the prompt (the imagine of Uriel holding his heart is one of my very first conceptions of him, so it was fun to redraw after all these years). I missed Valentine’s by a day, but…close enough?
