Me drawing my ponysona? Crazy. Anyways this is Staple
I STAPLED SOMEONE WITH A GUN~
I've been through the opening paragraphs of Staple about a half dozen times since I decided I needed another 30,000 words, and I've managed to cut almost a thousand words from its current length.
For anyone curious, Staple is a follow up to "Graft," which I had a really fun time writing and is also a fun time reading because it's just before I went all-in with deliberately making use of language hostile to readers, which is helping me fuck with the language more as a little flavor than engulfing the text. It's been slow to revise, but worth the effort as I gradually shape the sound of the language into a reflection of my own psychological agony. The POV if Vera the witch is someone whose concern with the horrors of her life and the world around her is disinterest almost to the point of laziness. She's kind of the embodiment of my depression naps.
A person whose organs and anything else extraneous were surgically scraped out because she was a gifted kid, and it was a privilege to get to be an experimental fighter bomber pilot. And it just makes her shrug. Well that didn't pan out. On to the next thing. She can't see anything but sort of violet tinged predictive tracks, but what can ya do? The more I get into the swing of it, I hope the more it will feel like an overwhelming amount of visual noise and terrible things and it won't even be at the plot. I'm just getting everyone comfortable with this including me.
I probably need a new title. That will be the fourth new title since I started this project.
