Ive been doing some self-reflecting (?) because something recently came up but im back now! ill try to post more often i promise :) also gn!pronouns also i got lazy at the end of Albedo's part lol also should i make a masterlist?? my page is getting to the point where it needs one lol

Kazuha

You both decided that it was the safest to stay in Liyue for now, considering that it was a risk having Kazuha stay in Liyue, also considering the fact that you could potentially get hurt if you were found working with him. Besides, it was Kazuha's idea in the first place. He originally wanted you to stay in Liyue by yourself, but you were able to convince him to do the same.

So here you both were, staying at the Wangshu Inn while waiting until you were able to get an actual home. Surprisingly, you had become rather close with the adeptus that stayed up on the balcony- his cold demeanor had become softer around you. And that angered Kazuha the most.

See, Kazuha wasnt a jealous man. In fact, he had his fair share of times that he hung out with women who he was close to. But he also considered Xiao as a threat of some sort. He was a smart and observant boy who was able to read anyone like a book. He knew Xiao had good intentions, as he was known as the protector of Liyue, yet he always saw Xiao giving him a look that seems like he wants to murder the poor samurai in his sleep. Besides, youve been talking to Xiao a lot more than Kazuha- and it seems like youre slowly replacing Kazuha with Xiao.

So here you stood- you and Xiao having a friendly conversation while Kazuha jealously watched from a distance. You both were talking about normal things- you were interested in how Xiao's duties worked and he was explaining it to you. But Kazuha could easily notice the light blush that tinted the yaksha's face- clearly indicating that he felt some way about you.

"-And thats why I stay up here." Xiao finally finshed. You grabbed Xiao's hands- making his eyes widen and body tense- and you stared at them.

"Xiao, I really admire what you do for the region i call home. It means a lot to hear that you care about the things you do, unlike what everyone else says." You looked up at the boy and smiled, causing Xiao's face to become even redder than before.

However, before he had the chance to respond, Kazuha walked around the corner of the balcony, making direct eye-contact with the other anemo user.

"Hello, love. Who do we have here?" Kazuha smiled at you, giving you a quick kiss on the forehead before looking at Xiao.

"Oh, im surprised you dont know him! This is Xiao, someone who watches over Liyue."

"Its a pleasure to meet you, Xiao." Kazuha gave the adeptus a fake smile, causing Xiao to scoff in return. "Are you the geo archon?"

"No, if i was then i wouldnt have an anemo vision," Xiao said, looking at your boyfriend with a mixture of disgust and annoyance. Kazuha only stared at him in response before his gaze went to his hands that you were still holding.

"Hm, my apologies. Anyways, love, if I can speak to you for a moment that would be apreciated. Its rather urgent." You nodded before letting go of Xiao's hands, waving at him before following Kazuha into your hotel room.

"So whats the matter-" You began, yet Kazuha only closed the door and trapped you up against it, his hands on either side of your head. You could feel the intense heat radiating off of his face.

"Are you more interested in that adeptus than you are in me?" Kazuha quietly asked. This was unusual for him- he usually confronted you with confidence.

"Wh- of course now! Where did you get that idea, Kazuha?" You laughed, before slipping under his cage and hugging him. "He's only a friend of mine whose backstory interests me. Thats all, Kazuha. I could never love anyone more than I love you."

Kazuha smiled at those words- all of his jealousy quickly melting away and turning into admiration before giving you a hug in return.

Albedo

You only worked with him as an alchemist, nothing else. You only thought of him as a friend and working partner, thinking that that's also how he thought of you. You told yourself that after getting the idea that he liked Sucrose before you were going to confess your love to him. You'll admit- he was smart, caring, and handsome. But for some reason, you just couldnt really imagine him liking you back. So, you put the thought into your head that he only thinks of you as a friend.

But you were so wrong.

Albedo watched in silence as you quietly and gracefully attempted to create a safer form of polychlorinated biphenyls, a focused expression printed onto your face. Albedo couldnt help himself though- you always clouded his mind. He always wanted to express his love for you- wanted to tell you how much you mean to him, but he couldnt. After all, you liked Venti. Allegedly.

"Hm... 'Bedo, what do you think? Ive managed to recreate PCBs, but i just dont know how to make a safer form of it." You sighed, looking up at the boy with tired eyes. You also worked in Dragonspine- in a different camp than him, but for some reason, he enjoys being in your camp more than his own.

"Im not sure. What's your motivation for attempting to recreate this chemical anyways?" He asked, taking a look at the substance you created. You shrugged.

"Im not even sure anymore. I started a while ago, but ive completely forgotten the reasoning behind it."

"...Well, polychlorinated biphenyls is highly toxic to humans and the environment, so maybe you shouldnt toy around with this. On top of that, you should take a break. Your eyes are red." Albedo advised, facing you fully and leaning closer to your face, examining your features. You were able to feel his breath on your lips as he held your face in his hands.

"I want you to take care of yourself, alright?" He continued. His voice was soft as he spoke, his breath ghosting over your own lips. He stared at your eyes for a few seconds before you finally decided to respond.

"...Sure."

He let go of you, slightly smiling at your words. "Im gonna take a trip to Mondstadt, ill be back."

"Mm, its rather late, no? I think you should stay here with me." He said. He'll admit- he sort of wanted to sound desperate in a way. This is his way of subtly hinting to you that he has feelings for you, i guess.

"I-It's fine, ill only be taking a short walk." You nervously said, waving your hand in the air in dismissal. "Besides, ill most likely be with Venti at the tavern if youre worried about my safety."

"..." Albedo knew he couldnt convince you to stay- he's tried before and he wasnt able to. So he just shrugged and agreed.

...

The next day, he woke up in your own house, laying on your bed, You were nowhere to be found though, which was odd. It wasnt like Albedo hasnt woken up in your bed before- he has many times. Its just that youre either in bed with him, or on the floor.

He got up and stretched before making his way into your living room, hearing the hearty laugher of you and Venti. Albedo mentally scowled at his voice- Venti, who somehow managed to get you to like him, was able to make you laugh- something that Albedo wasnt usually able to do.

-Mhm! Venti, youre always able to make me cheer up." You smiled and put your hand on his shoulder, causing him to give you a large smile.

"Of course I am! I know you better than anyone else does."

Albedo shivered at his words, jealousy rushing through his veins. He wanted to be the one to know you better than anyone else does, he wanted to be the one who makes you laugh, he wanted to be the one who you were dating! That's when he got an idea.

"Y/n, please come here, will you? I require your assistance," Albedo called, not actually needing anything from you.

"Hm? Oh, sure! Ill be back." You said to the bard and made your way over to the alchemist. He led you back into your bedroom and shut the door, making his way to your bed.

"Y/n, ive been hiding something for too long." He began, taking a deep breath in before looking up at you. "Please, come closer to me."

You obliged and sat next to him. He then, out of nowhere, laid on your lap and looked up at you. "Is this alright?"

"Y-Yeah, but whats this about?" You asked, heat rising to your face. You did like Albedo, youve come to realize. Thats what you were talking to Venti about this morning- you were confused and angry about your feelings towards the boy.

"Im only expressing my feelings, thats all." He said with a straight face. You frowned in confusion.

"I dont think i understand what you mean..."

"...I see. Then let me make it more clear for you," He sat up from your lap, took your face into his hands, and gave you a quick kiss on your lips.

"Do you understand what I mean now?"

“Ahh… i finally made it…” You sighed, flopping down in the freezing snow once you finally reached the top of a high mountain in Dragonspine.

“Congrats, however i don’t quite see this as an accomplishment, as you do this many times a day…” Albedo chuckled. “Nevertheless, we should have you rest in my camp. There are working heat sources there.”

Albedo helped you up, your face red and slightly swollen from the cold, and led you back to his camp. You could feel the wide-ranged heat throughout the camp, your body relaxing as Albedo led you to a seat in the corner of the room.

“Sit down, love. I’ll cook something for the both of us.” Albedo smiled and turned away. “Oh, but i’m forgetting one thing.”

“What is it?” You asked, Albedo turning back around and taking off his coat. He had a blue, short-sleeved collared shirt underneath his jacket, one that fit him well.

“Here, this could serve as a blanket of sorts,” He said as he handed you his coat. You put it around your shoulders and leaned back against the back of the chair.

“Thank you, Albedo.”

He stayed silent as he went back to the stove in the middle of the room, preparing a meal for the both of you.

After a while, Albedo turned around with two plates in his hands— only to see that you had fallen asleep. He set your plate down on his table as he began to quickly eat his food, then made his way over to you.

“Love, your food is ready,” He softly spoke while gently shaking you awake.

You slowly opened your eyes to see Albedo smiling at you.

“Mmm… thanks,” You groaned as you sat up, rubbing your eyes. It was already dark outside, the breeze being colder than earlier.

“Of course,” He said, reaching over and handing you your food. You began eating while he started talking.

“So, you must leave to Liyue tomorrow, is that right?” He asked as you silently ate. You nodded.

“Yeah, how did you know? I don’t think i’ve told anyone yet.”

“Hm,” He hummed, looking away from you. “I’m not sure. I guess… I just had a feeling. A conscious connection, if you will.”

“How does that work? I never knew you were studying psychology.” You asked. He laughed in response.

“Oh, i’m not studying psychology. It’s just something ive picked up from a friend, is all.” He explained. “However, it’s quite complicated, so i’d rather not get into it at the moment.”

“Hm, okay.” You shrugged. “Anyways, i finished. I think i’m gonna head to bed now though— i have to wake up early tomorrow.” Yawning, you stood up from the chair and made your way over to a small mattress somewhere in the cave, still hanging onto the coat.

“Well, alright. If you must, please rest. I suppose i’ll stay awake a while longer.” He said, walking over to you. He bent down to your level and kisses your forehead, helping you get underneath the blankets.

“Don’t forget to sleep as well, Albedo.” You said, but he only shook his head.

“I don’t need to at the moment—” He began, only to see your disappointed face. “…But, i guess it won’t hurt for a while.”

You smiled as he laid down next to you, covering himself up with blankets. “I’m sorry, I forgot to carry a change of clothing for you here.”

“It’s alright, don’t worry about it.” You shrugged, and began to nod of to bed. “I love you, Albedo.”

“…I love you too, y/n.”

a/n: holy shit sorry for being so inactive lately, i’ve been extraordinarily busy with personal issues and ive just been having super writers block lol also gn pronouns used but yeah, anyways here’s some burnt food for yall 🙁 oh yeah and i also got really lazy on Albedo’s part because it’s like 3am right now so if there’s any plot holes or rushed parts, just know that it’s my mind that’s supposed to be waking up in 3 hours working :)

warnings: slight mention of Albedo x Sucrose (reader thinks they’re together but they’re not)

Xiao:

Seeing you always made his heart flutter in more ways than one. Conversing with you made this feeling stronger— as his adoration for you only grew more and more each passing day.

How long has it been since he first felt like this? About 6 months or so. It only happened when Verr Goldet had asked you to check on the adeptus, noticing a larger difference in his recent behavior towards her.

“Um… Adeptus Xiao… I think?” You would call, being unfamiliar with the yaksha— only ever knowing him from tales from old family. “I’ve been called to check up on you. If everything’s alright, then i’ll get going—”

“Who sent you?” Was all he asked in return— no “thank you’s” or “i’m okay’s” at all. You stayed silent for a moment— a bit intimidated by his rather scratchy and deep voice.

“Mrs. Goldet did. Uh, as i said before, if you’re doing alright, then i’ll be on my way.” You said, and rushed out of his presence as fast as possible. It’s not that you were scared of him or anything, it’s just that his aura was brooding and it sort of freaked you out.

This is what made Xiao quite interested in you— you weren’t like the others that would call out to him in their sleep, or say a few words to the adeptus with only “yes” or “okay” in response. You were different— a word that Xiao hadn’t used to describe anyone in a long while.

Later on, it appeared to be that you would constantly check up on Xiao on your own accord, not entirely realizing that this man you would have frequent conversations with wasn’t like the others. He was… a killing machine, in other words. He wasn’t summoned to have idle chit-chat with a mere human, his only job was to slay the demons that roamed freely upon this world. So why was he enjoying your presence more and more?

Yet, as fast as time passed, you had stopped visiting the boy, becoming engrossed in your own dilemmas. This worried Xiao— of course, after all the time spent together, he knew you were a very capable person— one who didn’t need his protection no matter how many times he would offer it. But now was starting to become an issue. Why?

Because now, he was in love. Which was a predicament for him.

…

He roamed the streets of Liyue, subtly searching every nook and cranny of each and every shop and corner there was, on somewhat of a mission to at least know your whereabouts. He wanted to confront you, scold you about your sudden disappearance, and oppose you about how worried you’ve made him.

As he searched, he heard the faint sound of your voice in the distance, presumably by a nearby shop. His expression slightly lit up, as he was finally able to see you after such a long distance away from each other. He cautiously made his way towards you, attempting to not cause a scene because of his presence. However, as he approached you, he saw the figure of another man next to you.

The face of the infamous fatui harbinger; Childe.

“Childe, i think that was the best story i’ve ever been told before!” You giggled at the harbinger, who stood next to you, leaning on the side of that one restaurant in Liyue.

“Haha, and there’s more to that story that i could tell you about later, dear. But for now, i should probably head out. I’ll tell you more about it tonight, okay love?” Childe smiled and pat your head, before leaving the area.

Xiao was… angry. Sad. anything but happy. His mood changed as soon as he heard the harbinger call you “dear” and “love”. We’re you dating your own enemy? The enemy of Liyue, and basically everything Xiao fought for? How could you betray him like that!

Unless… you were a harbinger as well??

Xiao instantly returned back to his area at the inn, silently thinking about the events he had witnessed for the rest of the night. Yet, during his depressed state, he heard the sound of footsteps approaching.

“I can’t help you right now, please leave.” Xiao muttered, refusing to look up at whoever was there. However, he saw the familiar shoes and clothes of that one person he’s been searching for.

“Hi, Xiao.” You smiled. His eyes lit up before he looked at you with disappointment. “How are you? Im sorry i’ve been distant with you. A few things came up and I had to help Liyue itself with some causes. Is everything alright?”

He looked back down, his heart hurting due to the emotions he was feeling at the moment. He was happy to see you, to see the face he’s longed to see for what seemed like centuries, and most importantly— his hearted ached for him to just confess his feelings to you and get it over with. But he couldn’t— no way! He can’t compete with a strong harbinger like that!

“I’m fine. Adepti such as myself have no need to be checked up upon by you lousy people.” He said. “Not you in specific.”

You laughed at his last words before taking a seat next to him. “I don’t think that’s true. Every person needs to feel the comfort of another, right? I want to be the one to provide you that warmth, as i see that nobody else does.”

Xiao felt that ping in his chest again. Your words strikes him in such a spot that he could write poems about and for you, endlessly everyday. But his mind wouldn’t let him— he wouldn’t let these feelings of him get the best of him.

“I see. Well in that case, if you would like to be.. my protector, in a sense… indulge in those feelings of yours.” He said, looking at you who was still smiling at him.

Gosh, he could look at you all day and not get bored. He could listen to you all day, and even if his ears were tired of the noise, he would carry on listening to whatever it was that you were spitting out of your mouth.

“Hm… Sure! Id love to be your personal protector, Xiao! Just like you are for me.”

There it was again. That stabbing feeling pulsing around in his chest, starting from the lowest parts of his stomach to the highest peak of his brain. He felt all fuzzy inside— like he was being trapped with the care and affection you brought to him. He almost had to hold his chest— these feelings alone were becoming to much to handle.

“Y/n…” He would say. It was time, he thought. Time to reveal the feelings he’s been hiding for you all this time— in the 6 months he’s known you for, that is.

“What is it? I’m fully listening.”

“I… Love… You.” He finally confessed in broken up phrases. “For a long time… since we first became closer than i would usually be with someone.”

“…Xiao, I…” You would begin. “I’m so glad that you feel that way about me. It makes me really happy knowing that someone I care for loves me a lot. But…”

“I already love someone with all my heart, Xiao. You’re my first priority— don’t get me wrong! I love you so much, but I’ve already devoted my love to someone else.”

“…I understand.”

And with that last sentence, he vanished.

Albedo:

“Y/n, hand me that beaker on your left,” Albedo said, apparently paying no mind to whatever it was that you were telling him.

“Sure— Albedo, were you even listening to what I was saying?” You said, aggressively giving him the beaker. It took a while for him to respond, but he only did with a “mhm.”

“Sorry, love— ‘been catching up with a few tests i’ve been… uh— assigned. I promise to make it up to you,” He said, still not even turning to look at you.

“I see.” You said. So, you got up and left. Simple as that.

You and Albedo weren’t anything special— just two people who happened to have a few things in common. You both were only friends, well, in Albedo’s eyes. To him, you were nothing short of just some background noise to drown out the sound of empty quietness that caused his ears to ring. Well, you were interesting in other fields as well. You were strong and rather humerous, but other than that, you didn’t…have any other use for him.

…Or so you thought.

In actuality, Albedo loved you. A lot. He always secretly wanted to be by your side at all hours of the day— even when you were sleeping, he wanted to be right next to you, holding you tight. Of course, the stoic Albedo wouldn’t and didn’t admit this to everyone, hell— he even denied his own feelings. The pangs in his heart every time you smiled at him— yeah, he would brush those off as heartburn. But that’s besides the point. Albedo usually thought of you both as more than friends— friends with benifits, perhaps. As in, holding hands, and cute pet names, and forehead kisses— only things couples would do. But no, you always thought that he only followed through with your actions because you initiated them, and he didn’t want to be rude.

…Not knowing about your recent abscence, Albedo called for you again. “Do you think you can hand me that greenish substance near the cabinets?”

“…”

He looked behind him, only just then noticing your disappearance.

“Y/n?”

He finally got up from his seat and looked around for you, thinking that you were just playing that same old hiding truck you always did. However, when he came up empty-handed, that’s when the slight worry kicked in.

He left his workspace, searching for you around. Surely you haven’t gone far— how long has it been since you left? A minute or two?

No, it’s been almost an hour.

An hour of complete silence, Albedo not even checking to see if you were still behind him, in the back of the room.

“…” He frowned as he went back into his small workspace, deciding to finish his test before looking around Dragonspine for you.

A few days past since the “incident”, and you finally returned once again. As usual, Albedo was conducting some sort of experiment with Sucrose this time.

“Oh, am I inturrupting something? I’ll swing by later, then.” You muttered and left, before Albedo or Sucrose could even say anything.

You’ll admit— you’ve always been jealous of Sucrose. She’s so pretty and smart, and exactly up Albedo’s ally. They could relate to stuff together and… everything about the two just work out. Besides, it wasn’t unusual for Albedo to dismiss you when Sucrose was there. Sucrose would be welcoming— while Albedo would always try to get you out of there as soon as possible, like you were bothering him.

So with that, you left the two alone to their confusion.

…

It’s been a few weeks since that event, and you went up to Dragonspine one last time to see if you could get any different reaction out of Albedo. But, as usual, he didn’t even recognize your presence.

“Huh? Oh, Y/n. I’m rather busy today, i don’t have time for those nonsensical stories of yours.” He said and stared at you, and that’s when you just…

…never came back.

It’s not like what he said was supposed to come off as rude, though. The stories you told were always wacky and bizarre, nothing that could’ve actually happened in real life. Like, you fighting Osial in Liyue? Nonsense! There’s no way you could’ve fought such a huge beast!

Besides, he really was busy today. He had a few things planned for the two of you, something he wanted to do as an apology for being so distant. So it was only natural for him to not take your feelings as seriously for now.

…

Turns out, you really did never show back up. Albedo was just about to go and purchase the things he needed for your time together, until he realized—

—you weren’t even anywhere in Mondstadt.

Albedo searched for you everywhere— from the tavern to Stormterror’s lair. Yet he just couldn’t seem to find your whereabouts.

He started to get worried— what if something happened to you? What if you needed his help but he didn’t know? His heart began to ache from the anxiety washing over him. You, one of his (unbeknownst to you) precious jewels had gone missing, and he didn’t even know somewhere you could’ve gone.

He went around Mondstadt, asking anyone if they knew where you might’ve gone. Then, he ran into Venti, who just so happened to be his lifesaver.

“Oh, that traveler? Hm… they came to me in tears about how poorly you treated them… In that case, i don’t want to tell you where they went if you hurt their feelings.” Venti frowned at Albedo, who’s eyes widened for a milisecond before he cleared his throat.

“I would just like to apologize to them for my recent behaviour, that is all. Please tell me their whereabouts so i would be able to properly give them my apologies.” Albedo pleaded. Venti thought for a moment before sighing.

“Fine. They told me that they’d be off to Liyue and coming back near sundown. I think you’d be able to catch them then,” Venti shrugged. Albedo thanked him before going back to his lab, awaiting your arrival.

…

So uh, you never really came back when you were expected to.

Albedo waited for days, weeks, months, even— and every time he asked Venti if he saw you, even Venti didn’t have a clue where you went. Eventually, Albedo was just about to give up, until he heard a familiar pattern of footsteps approach his lab.

“Come in, be wary of the broken glass to your right.” He said, focused on writing something down before looking up at the entrance, only to find…

you!

“Y/n…?” He said in somewhat of shock. You waved at him and walked closer, examining what he was working on.

“Oh, i thought on Wednesdays you worked with Sucrose.” You said, a slight scoff afterwards. Albedo shook his head and got up, grabbing ahold of your warm hands.

“No, that’s every other Wednesday. But that’s besides the point. I missed you, Y/n.” He said with a small smile.

“Oh, that’s sweet! I didn’t know you missed my “nonsensical stories”.” You laughed, prying your hands out of his grip. “Anyways, I just came to, uh, check up on you. You know, we’re still friends and stuff, so i wanted to make sure you were okay.”

Albedo’s chest tightened at that phrase. “friends”. Right! You both were only friends, who acted like couples that really weren’t. But do friends really feel sharp pains in their heart, and butterflies in their stomach when they speak to you?

Yeah, i don’t think so.

“Listen, the way i treated you was wrong. So wrong of me. I should’ve taken your feelings into account more, instead of being so indulged in my own things that i don’t even think about you anymore. I love you, Y/n— and i don’t think any amount of alchemy i do could replace those feelings i have for you.” He said, a slight redness tinting his face. You only smiled and back away from him.

“That’s really sweet, Albedo! But i can’t be in a relationship with someone who puts smaller things over me.” You smiled. “Anyways, it was nice to see you again! I hope to see you around Mondstadt more.”

And to that end, you left the room.

He said he would be back in “a few days”.

Yet, a “few days” turned into two whole months— two entire months to spend away from your lover. You were worried, of course. What if something happened to him? You don’t doubt his abilities at all; he’s a very strong man who can handle things by himself. But he was only supposed to be in Inazuma to help with the Vision Hunt Decree for a few days, so why is he still there?

Over the course of his travel, he had started sending you letters at some point. Like you, he was fully aware that you were capable of protecting yourself— you had a vision, and that alone is already enough to ensure your safety. But still, even when he knew that you could harbor yourself, he still sent letters; just to make sure that you were okay.

…And he just missed you.

You stepped outside of your small home in Liyue, the grass still soaked from the earlier storm. You spotted a worn-out envenlope on your doorstep, sealed with a red wax stamp in the shape of a leaf. Classic Kazuha.

You opened the envenlope, inside was a small piece of paper that contained subdivisions of words. You mentally smiled, at the fact that Kazuha was still here, on this world, thinking about you.

“Y/n,

My love, everyday feels tedious when i’m across the ocean from you. Vast mountains of Liyue, treacherous storms of Inazuma— neither are able to compare to your natural beatuy and how much i long to see it.

I am currently working with an old friend of mine to cease this dreadful war, and to finally fulfil this vendetta of mine i have against the archon of this land. Apologies for the long absence, we are at stake if we give up now. It isn’t impossible that i could be followed if i make my way back to you, putting you in grave danger.

You smiled at the letter he sent you, awaiting his arrival more than ever now that you know he’s alright. You rushed back inside of your home, beginning to scribble down a letter to him in response.

He was finally done. Thanks to the Traveler and a few others, the Raiden Shogun had finally been defeated, and Kazuha could return home with ease.

It’s been a while since the last letter he sent, he’s been a bit too busy to write anything to you. However, now that he’s able to finally rest at home with you in Liyue, most of his worries have gone away, knowing that you’re safe.

As he said goodbye to the Crux Fleet, Kazuha waited on the dock in Liyue Harbor for your arrival. You usually waited for him at the dock every time he came back from any sort of travel, greeting him with hugs he longed to feel for so long. Yet now was different; a little bit.

Kazuha waited for almost an hour for you, yet you never showed up. Oh, right, he never told you that he was coming back home today.

So, he hurried to your home, anticipating the sight of you either sleeping or reading some novel— yet what he saw was not anything close to what he has wished for.

As he made his way to your house, his steps slowed down as his face became visibly pale. Well, there was your house.

Black and burnt.

He rushed in there, hoping you had made it out somehow, but it was too late.

There you were, sprawled out on the ground, covered in ashes. Your vision was dead in your hand, a man right next to you.

“Adeptus Xiao…” Kazuha whispered, recognizing the boy by his choice of attire and his glowing vision. You must’ve called Xiao’s name, it seemed like there was an attack— no, an invasion in your home.

Xiao noticed Kazuha from the corner of his eye, and examined him. He could see the shine of Kazuha’s eyes slowly fade, and how pale his face was compared to the rest of his body.

He stood up and made his way over to Kazuha, his usual stern look becoming more of a guilty look instead.

“I couldn’t save them. It was a large attack it seems, so when they called me, it was too late. It looks like they used their pyro vision, too. That’s probably how the house lit on fire.” Xiao explained, his hand on his chin as he was thinking of the best way to explain this whole situation to Kazuha. Yet he stopped him right there; Kazuha didn’t need any other explanation.

“It’s alright.” Was all he said before he made your way over to your body.

“I’m sorry I wasn’t able to protect you,” Kazuha said in a whisper.

A few days past— Kazuha’s life had quickly become more private, and he wasn’t as sociable and charming as he used to be. It just wasn’t the same— he swore to always be there for you, to protect you, and he can’t even do that. So what’s the point of trying to protect Liyue if he can’t even protect you?

The general scent of fresh, dead demons caused Xiao to scrunch up his nose in disgust. He was traumatized enough from his overall duties of being the “renowned” protector of Liyue, but it hurts him to kill anything, mentally.

His knees fell weak as he dropped to the floor, his spear clanking atop the rocky mountains as he held his head. A small headache was forming, and he wasn’t necessarily qualified to treat himself when it comes to anything health-related— the only person he really lets help him is you after all. He usually goes to you first for everything really, it’s like you’re the protector of the protector in a way. He doesn’t like to admit it, but sometimes it feels good to rely on someone else when you’re one of the most reliable people in Liyue.

He quickly grabbed his polearm and teleported to you, who was asleep in your cozy home somewhere near Liyue Harbor, where you usually took brief walks around. Xiao almost hesitated to wake you up; your sleeping figure looked so fragile that he was afraid he might break you in your sleep if he dared to touch you.

So that’s how low i’ve gotten for you, Xiao would think as his hand slowly reached out for your forearm. He gently rested his palm on your shoulder, waiting for a second before actually waking you up. You had moved in your sleep which caused Xiao to jolt back, worried that he had woken you up. It’s not like Xiao cares if you wake up, though! He just doesn’t want you to be cranky when you wake up, is all…

“Xiao…? Is there something wrong?” You sleepily said as you lifted yourself up, your eyes adjusting to the small lamp light that Xiao had previously turned on. He visibly winced, he truly didn’t mean to wake you from your sleep.

“It’s nothing. Go back to bed.” He would say and prepare to leave once again, yet you reached for his hand and pulled him towards you, accidentally pulling him into bed with you.

“No, if there’s something wrong, you should tell me.” You rubbed your eyes as your grip was still on Xiaos hand without you noticing. He was as frozen as some sort of figurine— he couldn’t move as much as he tried to.

“It’s nothing, I said.” He was staring straight up at the ceiling, his body sinking into the soft mattress you slept on. You shook your head at him and slightly rubbed his calloused hand, putting him at ease.

“Please tell me what’s wrong, Xiao. You didn’t wake me up for nothing.”

Xiao was able to turn his head to face you, before quickly getting out of your bed and pulling his hand away from yours.

“I said it was nothing…!” He yelled, grabbing the spear that he had dropped. “But, i mean… I just have a headache that I don’t know how to tend to, that’s all. But an adeptus like me shouldn’t and doesn’t need your help.”

You blankly stared at him while he straightened out his shirt and fixed his hair. He stared straight back at you, occasionally breaking eye contact with you to glance at the side of your head.

“Uh-huh. A headache could be a serious issue, Xiao.” You informed him as you stood up from your bed, leading him to wherever you kept your medicine.

“Huh? What’s this?” Xiao asked as you handed him a pill of Ibuprofen. He glanced up at you who rubbed your eyes.

“It’s medicine. It’ll help with your headache, and any other physical pain you feel. I think you should also have some water and rest here for the night.” You told him, already beginning to grab a glass of water for him.

He set the pill down and crossed his arms, tapping his foot in some sort of annoyance.

“I’m not taking this. I don’t know if you’re trying to play any devious tricks on me.”

It’s not like he didn’t trust you— of course he did. He basically trusts you with his life. The only problem is that…

…The pill is too big for him to swallow and he doesn’t want to admit it.

“Seriously, Xiao?” You sighed in annoyance, picking up the pill and shoving it in his mouth. “You can’t take a single pill? I’m not gonna do anything to you, I would never hurt you in any way.”

He didn’t react when you shoved the pill down his throat, instead he was able to swallow it without any water, which made him embarrassed at the fact that he was overreacting over such a tiny little object.

“Y-You know, you shouldn’t do that to an adeptus. I’ll kill you next time you do that.” He said, making an obvious empty threat. You rolled your eyes as you handed him the water, walking right past him to go lay back in bed.

“Yeah, yeah, come kill me in my sleep or something— im gonna go back to bed. You can sleep here if you’d like,” You said, waving your hand around in dissmissal and walking away as Xiao followed you to your bedroom.

“No, im not gonna do that. I don’t wanna hurt you. It was just an empty threat.” He sat down on the side of your bed as you laid underneath the blankets, looking up at him with tired eyes. His eyes widened as he felt his face heated up at the sight of you.

“Goodnight, Xiao. Take care of yourself.” You muttered, turning off the lamp and swiftly drifting off to sleep.

Xiao hated to admit it, but he truly did love to need your help.

You were silently sitting at a table somewhere in Liyue, enjoying a drink that Xiangling had asked you to taste test. Of course you were skeptical about it— who knows what Xiangling puts in her drinks? But you were a good friend so you drank it anyways. Besides, it wasn’t all that bad. It tasted like milk.

“Y/n, may I have a seat here?” You heard from in front of you as you were taking a sip of the milky drink. You looked at the owner of the voice; Kazuha.

He had stopped in Liyue for a while, he never told you why. You only just found out a few days ago when he told you that he was gonna go show that traveler how to play an “ancient zither”.

“Huh? Oh, sure,” You said, setting your drink down and watching Kazuha take a seat. He looked around the area before taking a peek at what’s in your cup. Despite having good social skills, he was a very awkward guy.

“So, what brings you here to Liyue, Y/n?” Kazuha finally asked, making direct eye contact with you.

You shrugged. “Meh, I don’t know. I mostly came to visit a few friends and things, not really anything important.” Kazuha nodded in acknowledgement.

“I see. I taught the traveler how to play the zither like i told you. I’m surprised, they got the hang of it quite fast.” He said, his chin resting on the palm of his hand as he stared deep into your eyes, smiling with some sort of loving smile.

“Oh, good for them. I bet it’s nice to have a break from everything and just play an instrument.”

Kazuha silently nodded, looking away from you and instead looking at a few kids playing.

“Y/n, what do you think about when you see me?”

You raised an eyebrow at him, thinking about his question for a moment.

“No,” Kazuha lightly laughed, turning back towards you. “I mean, what are your opinions on me?”

You were sitting on the ledge of Wangshu Inn, Xiao holding you up by holding the bottom of your back while you were telling him a story.

“—Yeah, so then she literally spiked my drink. I don’t know how she snuck it, but Hu Tao is really something.” You said, looking down at Xiao who was staring off to the side. “Hey, are you okay?”

“…Yeah.” He said, glancing at you for a second before looking away again. “That was an interesting story, y/n.”

“…Are you sure you’re alright? You’re acting… more emo than usual.”

He turned to you with a frown on his face, slightly letting go of your back to make it seem like you were gonna fall off the ledge. And it did.

“…Are you being serious?” Childe said, a sinister glare burning a hole through your soul. You stood your ground though, standing up to his mean demeanor for once.

“Yes, I am. And i’m tired of pretending this… whatever we have going on is okay.” You turned to leave, yet Childe harshly grabbed your arm and pulled you towards him.

“Oh, where do you think you’re going? We aren’t done yet.” He said, your head snapping towards him and attempting to pull yourself out of his strong grasp.

“Childe, let go! I have someone waiting for me out there!” You shouted, finally able to escape from his grip. He laughed as you turned and stomped away, an exaggerated chuckle he did whenever something wasn’t going his way. Or when he was overly-confident about something.

“Really now? You think that new person is gonna be better than me? Huh?” He screamed, chasing after you. “You’ll come running back to me, telling me how much you missed me and how kind i was compared to that asshole.” Childe snarled, staring into your eyes.

Long story short, you both had a rough breakup, resulting in Childe fighting way more than he used to. He says it’s because he’s angry, but… it’s really because he doesn’t know what to do without you.

Thoma (understanding):

“Was it something i did?” He would ask Ayaka, a fellow female who he thought had probably went through the same thing as you. (News flash: of course she didn’t.)

“Hm, i doubt it. You’re a sweet man, Thoma. I don’t know why y/n would want to separate from you.” Ayaka said, resting her hand on his own. “I think you should talk to her about it.”

Thoma took Ayaka’s advice, running around Inazuma to find the home that you were staying in. You had told him that you wanted to break up yesterday, and just like that, you disappeared for the rest of the day.

“Who is it?” You called from the other side of your home, unbeknownst to the fact that your now ex-boyfriend was on the other side after he knocked.

“Uh, Thoma…!” He replied. There was an awkward silence before you finally opened the door, happily inviting him in.

“Hey, Thoma! Is everything alright?” You asked, taking a seat at your dining room table. He sat down next to you and held your hands, looking at you in the eyes.

“Yeah, i’m alright. I’m just a bit confused on the sudden breakup, is all.” He told, smiling back at you with that signature close-eyed smile that he always gave you.

You searched your mind for an answer that wouldn’t upset him— a way to put it as nicely as possible.

“Wh-No, of course not!” You replied, your hands coming up to your chest in defense. “I don’t care how different you are. It’s just that, you know— I don’t wanna potentially get hurt by you, if someday you snap or something… I don’t wanna be a victim.”

He stayed silent for a moment, scoffing and rolled his eyes.

“Seriously? That’s probably one of the dumbest things you’ve ever said to me.” He chuckled, staring at you with stone-cold caramel eyes. “You think i’d hurt you like that? I’m a protector. I don’t hurt humans unless it’s completely necessary.”

“Yeah but, you can’t always control yourself…” You muttered, worried that if Xiao heard you, he would probably hurt you even though he said he wouldn’t.

“Hm? Is that so?” Xiao snarled, before teleporting away. You stared into the thin air that Xiao had disappeared into.

A few weeks passed and you still haven’t seen Xiao ever since the breakup. You were worried about him, of course, but you finally learned to just move on.

Yet the same thing can’t be said about Xiao.

Ever since he left, he’s been watching you from a distance, inspecting all of your interactions and things. He’s noticed that you’ve been talking with Mr. Zhongli every day for a long time everyday. What? No, he’s not getting jealous! He’s just… worried about you hanging out with an ex-archon, is all.

Hell, he’s even been stealing some of your personal items for… you know what. He gives them abck, obviously, but the breakup really ruined him.

Was he being too harsh on you?

He stared at your tear-stained face, your eyelashes all damp from the salty liquid coming from your eyes. He was wide-eyed yet he tried to keep the cold look on his face.

“What the fuck was that for, Scaramouche?!” You screamed at him, holding your face that he had just slapped with all his might, out of anger towards one of the fatui recruits. “Just because you’re a harbinger, doesn’t mean you can just hurt me like that!”

“…” He watched as you stood up and stormed off into your bedroom. Guilt washed over him— something that he wasn’t used to feeling. Why was he feeling so guilty for hurting you? He was supposed to feel proud, proud that you succumbed to him! But why didn’t he like it this time?

He chased after you, only to see you hurriedly packing things up into a small bag.

“Where do you think you’re going?” He yelled, a bit toned-down this time. You looked at him and scowled.

“I’m leaving. If this is how you’re gonna act, then I don’t wanna live here with you anymore. Our relationship has been toxic from the start, anyways.” You frowned, letting up from your spot on the floor and walking out, only for Scara to block your way in the doorway.

He pulled you into a hug, one that was oddly comforting. You melted into his arms as usual, dropping your bags and tearing up.

“I uh, I’m sorry for… doing that to you.” He said, awkwardly patting your head to signal for you to get off of him. “I shouldn’t have taken my anger out on you.”

“…It’s fine, but i’m still gonna leave.” You muttered into his clothes. “I’ll just go tomorrow, though.”

You both stayed in that position for some time until the sun began to fall.

A/n: ur mom hahaha also fem pronouns used also albedo kinda turns into a yandere on his part haha

Venti (sadness):

He didn’t think he did anything wrong. It was only yesterday that you both were laughing your asses off at the tavern, Diluc grimacing at the sight of you two while rushing you both out after you paid. Was it because you had too much to drink, and that made you giddy? Or were you just trying to please him? He’s confused about it the whole time as you sat him down to talk about it.

“Venti— no, Barbatos,” You began. Venti was already nervous— you only use his real name when you’re being serious about something. “I, listen. You’re an amazing person— you’re kind, funny, and a great musician! I just think that… y’know, it’s not really going the way i wanted it too.” You had said with a smile.

Venti’s face dropped immediately, his hands looking for comfort in yours, but you never gave that squeeze full of conformation like you usually did.

“You’re breaking up with me is what you’re saying?” Venti said in a whisper, tears becoming visible as he struggled to silence a sob. You only nodded.

“Yes, Barbatos. I’m not happy with our relationship.” You said. Venti looked up at you with furrowed eyebrows, his face and eyes red.

“But— you were just laughing and stuff at the tavern! You were just holding me close to you like i was something precious in your teapot a few days ago!” He argued. You only pursed your lips, looking away to think of an explanation.

“Well yes, but… I only wanted to please you. I wasn’t sober at the tavern, otherwise Diluc would’ve let me stay. Besides, you’re just too… needy. I want a man who’s independent, not someone who relies on me to do everything for him. I’m sorry, Venti.” You stood up from your seated position, Venti’s hands falling out of your own as you gave him one last smile before walking away.

“…I’m sorry i couldn’t be the best boyfriend…” Venti whispered as you left, wiping his tears before standing up and leaving the other direction.

Albedo (yandere(?)):

“Mr. Albedo, this is for you! it’s from, uh, Ms. y/n.” Sucrose said, handing Albedo a letter that was supposedly from you. Albedo examined it for a second before setting it aside, going back to doing whatever he was doing.

“I’ll read it later. thanks for delivering it, Sucrose.” He said, waving his hand to her in dismissal before grabbing a container of chemicals. However, Sucrose only stood there even after she was dismissed.

“U-Um, she said it was important, sir… she couldn’t deliver it herself, so she sent me to do it for her! She said to, um… read it right away.” Sucrose informed before rushing out of Albedo’s makeshift lab. He watched her leave in confusement before opening the envenlope.

“Dear Albedo,

I wish i didn’t have to do this, i wish our relationship didn’t have to come to this, but… i’m writing this letter to inform you that i’m breaking up with you.

I love you, i really do, Albedo. You’re smart, respectful, and accepting. I just feel pushed off to the side, is all.

You see, when we’re both doing our experiments and things, and I’m taking a break with you, you treat me as if your experiment is more important. like i’m just a temporary item. I don’t even really feel like you love me anymore! I wanted a boyfriend who could treat me like i’m something special, who doesn’t put things before me that you could easily do later, you know?

I’m just not as happy as i was with you anymore. I wish you the best, Albedo. And i hope your future tests do well.

P.S- Apologies for not being able to deliver this to you in person, or talk to you in person. I’m traveling to Liyue, where I’ve met a new man who can satisfy the needs that you failed to do. You’re a great boyfriend but I think this new man might be better for me. I hope you the best love life, if you continue it.

Albedo was in shock— he truly thought that you were genuinely happy in your relationship. He never realized how poorly he was treating you, how lonely you must’ve been while he never paid any mind to you.

“Don’t worry, love— i’ll make sure that man never ever replaces me in the slightest.” Albedo muttered under his breath, immediately giving up on his experiment before leaving his place in dragonspine to catch up with you in Liyue.

Kazuha (slight gaslighting):

“Oh y/n~ I brought you some flowers from Inazuma—” Kazuha called out in your shared home in Liyue— yet he was greeted with the face of you standing in front of the doors, full bags in both hands. To be honest, you both were surprised to see each other. You never expected Kazuha to be home so early, and Kazuha never expected you to already be at the door.

“My love? Wh-What are you doing?” Kazuha chuckled, refusing to look at the bags in your hands. “I thought you would be in our room right now…?”

You looked at him with saddened eyes. “…Your bedroom.” You muttered, before dropping your bags and leading him to the couch. You took the flowers from his hands and held them in you own hands, staring at Kazuha’s ruby eyes.

“Kazuha… I’m moving out.” You stated with a blank face. Kazuha’s skin turned visibly pale as he reached out for your shoulders in a moment of shock.

“H-Huh? My love, are you alright? Have you been drinking with Captain Beidou again? I specifically asked her not to let you drink anything…” He worriedly put his hand on your cheek, yet you instantly slapped it away.

“See? There you go again. You’re always telling other people to say no to me. Never letting me do what I wanna do. So what if I drink with Beidou? It doesn’t matter to you, does it?” You snapped, snarling at Kazuha. He stared at you in shock, letting himself consume what you just said.

“I was only trying to look out for you, my dear. I truly didn’t intend to make you feel as if you’re my puppet,” Kazuha tried to explain, but you clicked your tongue.

“Mhm, is that so? Then why did you say “No sweetheart, Inazuma is a much too dangerous place for you! I think you should stay here where I can protect you when i come back!” or “Hmm, i’m not letting you go out there and fight. i want you to stay here, okay? can you do that for me, love?””

“I was only trying to protect you.” Kazuha said, staring at you straight in your eyes. “I do care about your freedom, of course i do. I just don’t wanna lose someone important to me again.”

“Kazuha.” You said, letting go of his hands to stand up. “I’m better off on my own, alright? I’m sorry but i think you’re better off with someone who you know can take care of themself, like Beidou or something.” You left the room, flowers in hand as you grabbed your bags from the floor and left, leaving Kazuha in a shocked state as he stared at the door you left out of.

“I’ll get you back sooner or later, y/n… I’ll find you and i’ll prove that i can be better.” He muttered, going to his bedroom to begin cooking up some evil plan.

Gorou (denial):

“Aha, what are you saying, dear?” Gorou chuckled when you told him that you and him weren’t working. Only, you never laughed when he did. His laughter died down as he watched you sigh.

“Gorou, it’s not some funny joke. I want to break up with you and that’s final.”

He stared at you for a while before breaking out into another fit of laughter.

“Haha, are you hearing yourself? Have you been out drinking with the rest of the resistance again? Ahaha!~” He howled with laughter once again, but noticed that you were still keeping a straight face.

Oh, he knew that you were being serious. He just didn’t want to believe it. He didn’t want to believe that he wasn’t a good enough boyfriend for you. He didn’t want to believe that you wanted someone better than him. All he’s trying to do is make you change your mind, to realize, hey, maybe you are a bit tipsy! Maybe you aren’t realizing how good Gorou has been treating you!

“Gorou, please stop. You’re making me feel like my feelings are invalid.” You muttered. Gorou stopped as you said, his ears turning down and his eyes becoming lidded.

“…You’re really breaking up with me, huh.” He said, a small whimper coming from his throat. You pulled him into a hug, gently petting his hair.

“Mm, don’t think of it as a break up. Just think of it as a… Vacation, of a sort.” You tried saying, but before you could continue, he began talking.

“But why? Haven’t i been treating you good enough?” He asked, his whimpering becoming louder. You’ll admit it— of course you felt bad. You really didn’t want to do this to him after everything he’s been through, but it has to be done.

“…I need a break from all the fighting, you know? All i want is a peaceful life, maybe somewhere in Mondstadt where I don’t have to worry about watching my back everywhere i go, you know?” You explained, kissing the top of his head to comfort him.

“…It’s alright, my dear. I completely understand.” Gorou sniffled before looking up at you and smiled. “I know how you must feel, and i don’t blame you for it one bit. I’m sorry for being so… manipulative towards you.” He let go of you and stood up, leading you out of the tent you both stayed in.

“I hope you have a nice life, Y/n! Don’t forget to visit me!” He smiled as you left, on good terms, of course.

However, in the end, he still believed that you didn’t know what you were saying. I mean, he’s the general! Who wouldn’t want to be in someone with such a high title? He could protect you and everything— he just thinks that you’re tired or something. You don’t know what you want.
