╰ ⊰ there was a lot of time to reflect upon the last few months during sunsets like the one currently blossoming before his eyes. he sat beneath the most beautiful tree he had ever known with a long lost sister at his side. like this life didn’t feel so difficult; there were no heavy choices looming over him, no lives at stake or morality to question. a far cry from the land of difficult truths hoshido had been when he’d first come to know it. hinoka in particular had embraced him and her story had moved the deepest part of him. even now, while she slept against his shoulder, he combed his fingers through the hair she’d cut for his sake and thought of her plight. 

she’d done so much for him. all these years, even though he’d forgotten her, she’d fought. or maybe it wasn’t exactly like that? perhaps he had remembered on a deeper level. after all they’d both become pegasus knights. their paths were connected even while they were far apart. he wanted to believe that if nothing else.

with great tenderness he pressed his lips against hinoka’s forehead. her red hair slipped through his fingers, falling back into place. he smiled at her before turning his gaze skyward once again. ⊱ ╮

the emotions themselves were more of a burden than her embrace. he knew that her intentions were pure; she meant to warm his heart and share her feelings. guilt was therefore the worst of all and it stirred him up with light nausea. despite that the little prince offered her a smile that was meant to be reassuring. ⊱ ╮
