With how close you two are, it isn't a surprise when at least half of Tracen thinks you're dating.
You and Stay Gold have just recently returned to Tracen after another day of traveling together.
After you said your goodbyes for the evening you planned on returning to your office to review anything that might be missed before going on that trip. However, on your way you noticed a few umamusumes talking to each other in a group. You even noticed a couple of them glancing at you and it made you a bit anxious but you paid them no mind and continued on your track. For all you know it's just girls gossip.
When you arrive at your office you immediately drop down to sit on your very comfortable office chair, exhausted but happy you got to go to another trip with Stay Gold. Right, you decided after 5 more minutes of enjoying your chair you will then review what you might have missed. But-

The day has come for their next travel plan. This time Stay Gold wants to explore an area where she said she heard about a beautiful flower field somewhere on the mountain.
You are excited. You really are, but the question you've been meaning to ask her weighs heavy on your mind. And if it shows on your face she doesn't say.
After several hours of hiking they did not seeing a single speck of that flower field all over the mountain. But once they reached the peak at around afternoon where the sky shows a beautiful glow of gold, they finally see it, and it is certainly as wonderful as she had said before.
A wide field of flowers extending as far as the eyes can see. Different flower variations coats this land, including flowers like. Theres even a small pond with its own flower residents.
Stay Gold has a wide smile looking at the view in front of her. However, you could only look at her.
That carefree and kind smile of hers. That serene yet dangerous eyes of hers that shows up at the right time. You have been through a lot together and you trust each other. But you still have to ask... So you call out to her.
"Hey Stego."
She turned her head to you almost immediately, "What is it?"

"What are we?" You look at the ground full of flowers, unable to face her for a moment. From your knowledge you could figure out theyre carnations.
"Eh?" You could tell your question caught her off guard.
You look back at her and find her humming quietly to herself while looking at where the sun is about to set, as if thinking what she should answer.
"What, indeed?" If you didnt trust her so much you would probably freak out right about now but you trust her. And she trusts you. Because she's your Stego.
After awhile she looks like she finally got her answer.
"Ah, we're companions. Haven't I said that before?" She looks back at you, and you could only fidget a bit.
"Well..."
She starts to laugh. Silly, ridiculous, but free, like her.
"It's because of the talks going on in the academy isn't it?"
That's what you like so much about her.
"Perhaps..."
She's a traveller. She's free spirited. She's not meant to settle in somewhere permanent. Perhaps it was the reason why you were so scared to confirm with her in the first place. But even so, putting a name between you two or not...
