The National Museum, in Rio de Janeiro, just went up in flames. There were more than 20 million objects in the museum’s collection. The building itself housed the Portuguese Royal Family, and later the Brazilian Imperial Family back in the day. 

History and culture gone, just like that. All went up in flames.

This hurts so much to look at. :/ 

Apparently there were signs of decay all over the building, with actual wiring exposed. The museum was underfunded for the past 3 years and couldn’t afford research and maintenance.
